As much as the car looks a masterpiece I'm loving the wallpaper 👌
Wow, Senna would've been proud!
Nice work it looks great, especially the driver. Good timing as well with it being Senna.
Yep it was a sad weekend racing back then.
Very nice...looks ready to display or race
muddfoot69 Really it’s just for the shelf but it’s fully up and running.
That turned out amazing. Looks so cool wish I had one great video
Thanks Ryan. Keep an eye out, sometimes you can get some used bargain ones that need a body. You can get a replacement and decals so don’t let that out you off. 👍🏻
a nice little tribute to the late great Ayrton Senna bet its quick too
It sure is
Great job. Its stunning
This more my sort of thing end result looks amazing smashing job on this one
Awesome Gavin. Keep up the good work
My first car was a wild Willy in 1983. Love seeing this old Tamiya stuff. Well this isn’t that old but more of a new classic. Haha
Daniel Brennan Thanks Daniel 👍🏻. This car is a 1992 release.
RCKicks Ahhh gotcha. Very cool. That chassis is really cool. There’s a bunch of styles one could build outta that
Awesome 😎
Beautiful!
I have the 1/64 AFX #1 version....such a beautiful car.
Food looking set up. I would definitely like to see it run. Keep the videos coming!
Wow what a beauty!
Great work!
What colours do you use for painting the driver!?
LOOKS GREAT
Thanks, it came out well and it's a stunning looking car.
I'm thinking about building 1 myself
Absolutely beautiful attention to detail well done almost like the real deal. Looking forward seeing your content, I’ve just subscribed 👍
Thats a sweet ride you got there. Great video I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to more videos and keep up the great work.
RC Retro Thanks RC Retro that’s most kind. 👍🏻. Loads more stuff coming each week. Currently I have a original vanquish rebuild, vintage Hotshot, a 1 of 333 Porsche 934 build and body painting vids for the Novafox, Avante, 959 road car design and Porsche 934 1/12th. Also RCKicks first crawler build. 👍🏻
RCKicks Looking forward to eventually seeing those. I’m a big fan of the Vanquish so I’m most looking forward to that one. I’m just getting into the whole on-road car thing with a Tamiya Mustang GT4 TT-02. However, I have to say I’m a bit intrigued by the 40th Anniversary Porsche RSR 934 Jagermeister. Either way, I spend way too much money lol...
@@RCRetro The Vanquish has a Technigold RX motor and Tamiya Hi Cap shocks but its a real basket case so expect a total rebuild and replacement body/paint project. :)
Looks mega! Great looking shelf piece and glad you're running at least a couple times :) you've got to right? :P
The Legend Ayrton Senna
My Favourite racing team
Amazing work again, it's beautiful! This car and the 959 looks better with the original tobacco stickers.
Great job thank you very much for all the great tips. I'm gonna check out all your videos. Just getting back into building some Tamiyas. Built many years ago. I love you tree background! Where did it come from? Lol. What is your all-time favorite build? Thank you!!!!
Cool welcome back to RC 👍🏻👍🏻 You are going to love brushless motors and Lipo battery technology. The tree background is just a wallpaper feature wall. The room was an office before it became a studio. My favourite build I guess was my Turbo Optima rere.
Stumbled across this vid as I’ve got an F103 Williams myself and was looking to get a new shell to paint in the fabled McLaren/Honda colours 😍. Re the white shell…keep it as is. If you are going to add a decal, I’d advise to just add one - ‘Lamborghini’. Aside from the Minardi that was Lambo powered, McLaren actually have a Lambo powered F1 car. It was tested by Senna who said it was excellent, but it never got off the ground (I.e raced) as McLaren had signed a deal with Peugeot….I remember seeing a vid ages ago of Mike Hakkinen taking it for a test drive as well once. Plain white. Check out Jodie Kidd’s “Kid in a Sweet shop channel” and you’ll see it and Zac Brown chat about it. So I’d def say keep it in white as a homage to the v12 Lambo powered Macca that sadly never raced. Funny thing is, if Macca went ahead with it and didn’t sign the deal with Peugeot there’s a strong likelihood that Senna might have stayed with McLaren……now doesn’t that open a whole new ‘what if’ debate lol
😁👍Came out great looking!
Shen RC Thanks Shen. It came out ok in the end but for a three colour body the masking up took ages. It’s a lovely kit and I can recommend having one F1 car in the collection is a must. It’s finding a place to run the car that puts people off I think.
That looks amazing 😍👊🏻
Hi Gavin great job, I’m looking to get a Tamiya MP 4/5b and a Renault Williams FW14 both 1/10 professionally painted, would you recommend anyone?
Hi RCkicks! I know you did this paint job a long time ago! I’m trying to redo my. The wing part how did you paint that I’m having trouble matching it up with body. Cause in the manual it says to use TS36 which I did and the X1 to paint the inner part. But issues it makes it very dark looking inside being fluorescent red.
Nice video mate,👍👍 I hate painting body shell because I'm not confident.
Great job :)
Great job! Doing my own and I'm looking at the right decals... Especially the Marlboro red logo, is it red or fluorescent red???
Hi Gavin! Really nice car! And fabulous work! Which Tamiya paint did you use to paint the driver? Really enjoy your videos! Cheers from Brazil!
I’m deciding between this one or the 1/14 scale any recommendations between the 2? I’m looking to track them a bit
Take a look at the Tamiya F201 chassis and the Schumacher ICON if you want a balls to the walls F1 racer.
Great job! Thanks for the fun videos. Im getting ready to do a Senna Tamiya. Are you happy with the Red PS20 color or would you suggest a different one? Where did you find the kit?
Got the chance to get a sauber 1993 f1 the other day...
Very Nice, tell me, how do you know the places of the red lines? the correct angle i mean.
when masking the orange, the masking is only an estimation? or are there any guidelines on the body?
It’s down to you
Has it been run and I've missed the video in the playlist?
Hi
Cool YT Chanel 👌
I do have a question.. I’m starting a collection of vintage tamiya f1 models
I’m wondering for any of these kits the front wing comes in abs I believe .. do you actually need to paint it ?
Asking because on the Manual it des the tell if you need to or not
Thanks
Depends on a few things. Is the car for racing, does the wing plastic colour fit the colour of the car body design? If it’s a shelf queen paint it, if it’s for driving and the plastic is the correct colour for the livery design, leave it unpainted. If the front wing plastic is the wrong colour and you are racing it, well that’s a personal choice.
@@RCKickschannel thank you for the reply
The car will not be used just a shelf queen .. it’s the Honda 99T
Ordered the PS camel yellow
Unfortunately I don’t have the car yet so I don’t know if it’s going to match or not ..
If I’m painting it I need to get TS paint I believe
@@culerone The hard plastic parts need TS paint yes.
Do you think team blue groove make a body for my Tamiya road wizard
Where did you get that new body?
To prevent ANY bleed under the tape, spray some clear along the tape edges. Any bleed will be clear - invisible - and the subsequent colour cannot bleed under the clear. So perfect edges every time - viola.
Nice one Alan, I will give that a go next time. :)!
I want to repair a LANG Senna model with damage in the red paint section in front of the cockpit. trouble is I've never done any paint repair to a model before. if I apply Tamiya tape and spray the clear coat, the clear coat won't affect the existing white paint and decals?
Beechaii2 Hi, I take it you are talking about a hard body and painting on the outside? If so rub down the area that’s damaged, mask off and paint with the correct colour. Once done remove the masking and blow over with the clear coat.
@@RCKickschannel Yeah its the red painted section in front of the cockpit that has a few cracks that have peeled off. It's the MP4/6 diecast body made by LANG/Minichamps. The thing is I'm not sure if Tamiya Fluorescent Red is the same shade of red used on the LANG version. If it isn't then it will be obvious with the slight contrasting two red shades which is not ideal. I guess what I could do then is just paint over the entire original red section with the Tamiya red paint.
@@RCKickschannel And the Tamiya tape is special tape that can be apply for rounded/curved surfaces right?
Hi Gavin, I fell in love of this car; I saw it's possible to find the assembly pack on Ebay (from Japan) for 600€... Wow ! Do you think it's worth for money ? Thanks for your answer
no its not worth it, F201 is the way to go
Does the paint still smell like rotten tomatoes? I remember attempting to spray our first RC about 20 years ago and we were put off by the smell, it felt that it smelled like rotten tomatoes 🍅
No but it does smell of chemicals.
Hi where can we buy those sponsor decals (Marlboro)
MCI Racing
how fast is a car like this ?
Can I have more information for the sprays?
?
