  • Join me behind the scenes for another of my single-take rehearsals for demos that I am prepping for, test-driving new concepts, or generally practicing. Usually recorded late after all my normal work is done, you might enjoy some of the tips and tricks I hope to offer.
Get ready for a much longer session, and more of a journey through one of my favorite projects. Sit back and watch the various techniques and approaches I've used to accurate model a violin, using the same steps (in digital form of course!) of the famous makers from the golden age of violin making.
This highlights lots of global variables, parametric expressions, derived features, layout sketches, surfacing, in-context editing, configurations, just to name a few of the Onshape features I employed in this project.
In this Part 1 (of 2) I focus on the body of the violin including the manufacturing steps along the way. Part 2 will focus on the neck, scroll and other ancillary components.
