Chuck thank you so much for this! I have been going to school online for an IT degree and fortunately have time outside of that to study for my CCNA R&S, but all that time has been taken up by getting my house ready to sell. Now that it's finally about to sell in a couple weeks, I'm ready to hit the ground running with all the goodies I need like CBT Nuggest, GNS3 and a full physical lab kit. I was worried that I might be running out of time before the "cert-pocalypse" as you hilariously called it, but now that you have given me an exact date I am ecstatic to know that I will be able to finish in time. It's a huge load off my mind. Your videos always leave me feeling more excited and confident about a future in network engineering.
I saw this video 6 months ago, and you inspired me to start studying for my CCNA (I didn't even know what a CCNA was at the time.) I passed my ICND2 today! Thanks for the motivation!
Great video. I was taking a 15 min break, finishing up chapter 22 of Odom's Book (100-105) when i got the notification. I have been dragging my feet on the CCNA for at least a year. Caught this video over the summer and just got my ccna yesterday. I've been waiting for the day I could come back to this vid. I gotta say man you've been quite an inspiration for me. Looking forward to all I have to learn still. Thanks bro

Well you have convinced me. I just got my A+ in May and have started my CCNA work and started the CCENT studies today. I have watched a bunch of your videos and transitioned from taking Network+ to instead focus on CCNA. Like you said. Clocks ticking. But I got this. Good luck to everyone joining in the challenge.
Slightly off topic here Chuck, but I just passed my CCNP Switch exam today! 1 down, 2 to go. Thanks for the motivation! Also, while not the only one used, Boson is a great exam prep resource.

@Klaus Renz thank you for the study information, I really appreciate it! I also purchased a Cisco network and security training course on udemy.com hopefully that helps as well

Just passed my ICND2 today so officially CCNA certified Also today i started my CCNP R&S course in an institution for the duration of 6 weeks, and planning to pass all exams in 12 weeks, totally doable.
Hi Chuck, Just wanted to say Thank You for the motivation and encouragement. I passed the CCNA 200-125 last Friday. I appreciate all the informative videos you post. Now, on to the CCNP Enterprise!
Thanks Chuck! Studying for the CCNA Security exam now and planning to take the exam next month. Was worried about continuing after the recent news but more pumped now to go ahead and take the exam.
I'm starting from zero with cbt Jeremy, bosom, official book, 2 switch + 2 router, I'm starting on july the 3rd whish me luck don't if im gonna make it.
I'm waiting until my house sells so I can use the money to get my study setup (I don't even have a desk yet) and I'm going to be getting pretty much that EXACT same list. Even better? My house sale closes on July 3rd. Best of luck to you! I'm currently shooting for having my CCNA R&S done by my birthday in October so I can basically give myself 2 months per test.
How many practice exams does Boson offer? I saw that it was around $100. Are you paying $100 for a set amount of practice exams or is an annual subscription that allows access to exams?

Just passed my CCNA composite (already had the ICND1 though) with the exact score needed to pass. Needless to say I went and bought a lottery ticket afterwards.
Hey network chuck !! I got my A+ last month and I’m going to start July 8th as a computer technician. I got the cert through my college degree program . I’m on the road to get a cs degree with network as specialization. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
Thank you for your insight on this matter Chuck. This video motivated me to get my CCNA before Feb 2020 and passed my exam over the weekend. Will aim for CCNP after Feb 2020, keep up the good work!
You're right! Don't miss your CCNA, I passed my ccna r&s with just little experience in 8 months (on second atempt). I'm ccnp r&s now (which i passed in 9 months). It's totally duable!
If the CCNA is just a silly piece of paper then go for it now, but if the CCNA information is useful than wait. Learn the new stuff and be a more effective tech.
That makes sense, but for some people like myself, it's about money. I've already invested in the training, stopped working my last job as a transition, and I have discounts that will expire soon, so I need to get certified to get my foot in the door. I also did the ICND 1 already, which will be a complete waste if I don't go for the CCNA now.
I have to agree, but if you are not already employed it might still be best to go ahead and get your CCNA now. I'm already working in IT myself (plus it's more-or-less DevOps), so I'm going to wait for the Cisco Certified DevNet Associate cert.
What makes you change your opinion? I have the same thoughts in regards about it. Rn I am studying CCNA in a college but using an old book 100-101 Exam and 200-201. I am a bit worried coz it is basically a clicking game where you have just 7.5 months to get your cert. If I want to start rn I would have to buy first of all a new book with 100-105 and 200-205 study guide knowing that it will get obsolete the next year. Then If i failed I could have been losing money tho. I feel like this hurry of getting the ccna will make us learn less and it will be stressful when presenting the exams as the is like just one chance to get it. I think i would be losing money and i would be not getting knowledge and experience by learning old stuff. At the same time I am thinking that what if I pass it... Will it worth the risk?
I've started studying for this about 4 years ago Got almost done with ICDN1. I had to stop, address life. But After seeing this, I want to knock it out before the switch takes place. My company, after CCNA amd CySA+, want's me to get Azure certified which will make me the first (and currently only) Azure certified engineer in the company. So it's very cool to hear more is coming. I look forward to it!
Flyinghotpocket Yes. Especially when there are many 3rd party vendors (Global Knowledge, Fast Lane) that already offer great Cisco courses. I would imagine those courses don’t earn the badges from Cisco either.
It's just money game till february. New CCNA is NEW and every hiring company knows that or will know that and they will ask you which CCNA do you have. It's not important how many certs do you have or what badge. 60% of old CCNA is in the new CCNA, what about 40% of new stuff. From my point of view only that matters are knowledge and experince, so i will wait february and i'm glad that they do this restructuring of certs.

When you compare old CCNA with new CCNA you see what they change and why, technology is changed and is still changing. From talking to some of the Cisco engineers at CiscoLive, they may be wrapping it into the DevNet side or something similar. They already passed the DoD certification for CyberOps, so I don't think that they will completely remove it. It may just move, since it is more vendor neutral than their other certifications. They should be posting more by the February cut over date.
@@bernardbethel5401 You are welcome! One of the Cisco security guys said that they are still working on the CyberOps cert and how it will fit with the new tracks.

I've been putting off my CCNA for years and now it's time to go for it..hoping to have it completed by NOV/DEC - wish me luck!! (side note - did Joe do a B.O. check @ 29:05 ??)
IS it possible to do starting from today since I am also doing A-level papers Can I do them both ? How much time do I need to input and where do you take the exams or are they online based ?
Training badges going forward are going to be confusing for everyone. They will end up being non sense. I understand a training badge for completion of a Cisco training course. The name of the badge makes sense. Training badge for completing a training course. But when multitrack CCNA security, SP, CCDA, etc age out. Because Cisco has said we can’t keep them active by taking a higher exam now. All you will have active is CCNA and multiple training badges. But most would never have done a Cisco training course. But would have passed many Proctored exams. Therefore hiring managers will have CVs and Linkedin profiles that have multiple training badges. But many candidates having training badges will have completely different experience. Some will have been on training courses. Where others will have never been on a training course. But will have passed proctored exams. I imagine to begin with most training badge holders will be those who held multitrack CCNA. But as time goes on and more people only take training courses and gain training badges. Also as time goes on Multi track CCNA will expire. As Cisco no longer allows them to be renewed when passing higher level exams. This will become confusing going forward. As to an employer will assume a training badge means you only competed a training course. But many will have training badges who have never took a Cisco training course. But have took many proctored exams and gained certification status in many technologies. But then lost the certification as Cisco won’t allow them to renew by taking a higher level exam. It would be better if Cisco made training badges for completing training courses. And kept current multi track certifications active. At the least change the badge name to something that makes sense. Exam badge makes more sense. Or even more simple and less confusing would be to just keep the multi track CCNA certification badges. But retire the exams. Enabling them to be active as long as you maintain a CCNA or higher. That would make more sense going forward and prevent the confusion of what people did to get the training badge. Please network chuck can you put this to your contacts in Cisco. Training badges are going to be very confusing when no training has been done. But many proctored exams have been passed. How are Cisco going to make employers and HR lives easier. When candidates have gained training badges different ways. Even by never been on training. Clearly the obvious answer is just keep multitrack CCNA Badges. But retire the exams. Training badges for training. Certification badges for certifications. Even if the certification exam is retired. Come on Cisco make it simple.
I got my CCNA 200- 125 Certification today. My material for studying was Udemy (The Bulldog Chris Bryan and David Bombal), Todd Lammle's CCNA Book, Measureup's Practice Test, Itpro.tv, GNS3 for routing and Packet Tracer for switching. I am going to try to get te CCNA Security Certification

I have registered at a college for the Fall semester 2019, and it will finish next May 2020. Do I need to keep the registration as it is or I need to cancel my classes because I finish it in May 2020?
Dont cancel... the knowlege is always gonna be the fundamental subnetting, access lists, routing switching will always be the same.. the sooner you learn it the better..

Guys dont wait. i took a course in the military back in 2002. It prepared me for the ccna. I was not confident and put it off again and again. i finally put my nose to the grinder and completed it in 2017...15 yrs later! What did I miss out on by waiting? A lot! get to it.
According to the previous interviews the New CCNA is nothing more than Network+. From the time perspective you could burn yourself out studying for the Old CCNA or just take the easier next year. Also the badge is most likely worthless from a HR perspective.
The badge is only worthless if you don't make use of it. Most employers won't know what they are. And the more you have on your resume, the better, in my experience.
demonatx I agree it’s a nice to have but you could spend 6 months of intensive studying for the old CCNA or you could spend 1 month studying for the new CCNA. The HR monkey is going to see CCNA they aren’t going to know the difference between new and old. Your direct boss should know but I highly doubt HR is going to understand the difference. Why study for the old CCNA when you could spend the time studying for the new CCNP.
Actually had my ICND2 scheduled for 6/24 but starting my NEW job that day. Only have my CCENT (Sec+ and Net+ also) but it definitely helped get interview and scheduling ICND2 showed I am looking forward. Love your videos!

Just want to drop a comment and say that this video was one of the reasons why I pushed myself to get the CCNA. I passed the first test on November 23rd 2019 and then I passed the second part on January 13th 2020. I studied a combined 4 months. I am now CCNA certified! This video is true, it can be done and was done! I have around 4 years + network experience in the field which did help. Thank you NetworkChuck for pushing me to get the CCNA!
Yes. I recently passed route in ~3 months already done with switch and will start working on tshoot for another 3 months. If you start now you will have ample time for each.
I just now saw this video, and I am looking into getting into IT. I'll be starting coursework at a community college that offers a Cybersecurity and Computer Networking associate's degree and has their coursework through the Cisco Networking Academy. While working on my degree I'll be taking classes that will allow me to get my A+, Network+, and Sec+ certifications while culminating in my CCNA at the end of my program. It'll take two years to complete the degree. Are there ways to get a junior help desk job while in school before getting a certification? I'm wanting to start getting experience while I'm in school, and I am planning on getting an internship during my last semester of school. Right now I am wanting to get into Cybersecurity. Of course things may change as I find out what I like and what I'm good at in the cybersecurity and networking realm. After watching a couple of your videos (I just found out about you via my UA-cam homepage) Network Engineering might also be something I am interested in.
Thanks, Chuck. I've been studying for the CCENT since April and plan on taking that in July then getting the CCNA before the end of the year! I got my A+ a while ago, but I've set up VPNs and networks for my job so I think I'm gonna make it (fingers crossed)

Slightly off topic here Chuck, but I just passed my CCNP Switch exam today! 1 down, 2 to go. Thanks for the motivation!

Was the ICND2 test difficult?
@@zadokbarak1264 no it was very easy, but you still need to study hard for it

How many practice exams does Boson offer? I saw that it was around $100. Are you paying $100 for a set amount of practice exams or is an annual subscription that allows access to exams?

Hey network chuck !! I got my A+ last month and I’m going to start July 8th as a computer technician. I got the cert through my college degree program . I’m on the road to get a cs degree with network as specialization. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
Thank you for your insight on this matter Chuck. This video motivated me to get my CCNA before Feb 2020 and passed my exam over the weekend. Will aim for CCNP after Feb 2020, keep up the good work!
Just passed my CompTIA Network+ and it seems to cover more than the new CCNA.
That's kind of what I was thinking.
Anyone competent enough to learn the current materials on the CCNA will have no issue learning the topics on the new one.
I’M GOING FOR IT!!!! 8 months shouldn’t be too bad. Thanks for all the info great video
Thank you for great and inspirational videos! Your videos definitely helped me passing the CCNA R&S exam today!
Congratulations! I'm proud of you!
I've started studying for this about 4 years ago Got almost done with ICDN1. I had to stop, address life. But After seeing this, I want to knock it out before the switch takes place. I'm 40 now, and able to take a leave of absence and devote all my time to this. This video just helped me make the decision. . . 110 Days til Exam

I'm currently getting prepared for the CCENT, mainly cause I know networking, but Cisco stuff is really new to me (mainly a Mikrotik guy), but sadly, even tho Mikrotik is good and strong, Cisco certs are a lot heavier in a CV.

I do train with CBT Nuggets and I asked them recently when more content would be available for Azure. My company, after CCNA amd CySA+, want's me to get Azure certified which will make me the first (and currently only) Azure certified engineer in the company. So it's very cool to hear more is coming. I look forward to it!
Honestly, the training badge thing sounds extremely dumb and just another way for Cisco to get money.
All it is is saying yeah we already got your money, thanks bro, hes a sticker for you.
Flyinghotpocket Yes. Especially when there are many 3rd party vendors (Global Knowledge, Fast Lane) that already offer great Cisco courses. I would imagine those courses don’t earn the badges from Cisco either.
I just passed the A+ test and passed. I am now starting the journey for studying for the CCNA before it retires. Thanks for all that you do!
What makes you change your opinion? I have the same thoughts in regards about it. Rn I am studying CCNA in a college but using an old book 100-101 Exam and 200-201. What’s gonna happen to CCNA Cyber Ops?
How are they incorporating SOC (Security Ops Center) information?
From talking to some of the Cisco engineers at CiscoLive, they may be wrapping it into the DevNet side or something similar. They already passed the DoD certification for CyberOps, so I don't think that they will completely remove it. It may just move, since it is more vendor neutral than their other certifications. They should be posting more by the February cut over date.

Thank you man, Today I received my second CCNA Certification badge. Now I have my CCNA R&S and my CCNA
