"Clad Head-to-toe in heavy armor and weilding a massive two-handed hammerer..." My god the dwarfs have invented an infinite recursion of soldiers wielding other soldiers as weapons!
That sounds like a Dwarf Fortress thing. Like the coffin hammer, where a dwarf uses a steel coffin as a weapon and fills it with slain foes until it's as heavy as dark mater.
"Hey, I make enough money to sustain this family AND buy this house in this lovely district of the Karak." "You never do anything ambitious. Do you want to be a cooper your whole life?" "Cooping is a reputable job!" "Your great-great-uncle was a Hammerer, you know..." "OH THIS AGAIN!"
Pretty much that, yes. Although the cooper could always point out that without his barrels there'd be no way to transport beer around. If a Dwarven argument gets to the topic of beer, then the one who raised it as a point will probably win fairly quickly.
ahhh yees. Lore video. God I love watching/listening to this video before sleep. If kids read fairytales as their bedtime story, then THIS is my bedtime story. Cheers Arch, I fucking love your lore videos
Stay away! I've got this heavily armoured ambidextrous dwarf and he's very heavy so im gonna drop him and let him do his thing and just catch my breath.
don't you mean thank sigmar? pretty sure thanking the emperor is more a 40k thing because they worship theirs like a god hence "god emperor" whereas anywhere i look in warhammer fantasy i see sigmar this and sigmar that.
That was often a tradition in many parts of the world as the lower classes tended to be very grateful for the increase in social status, and were less likely to murder their charge in an act of political subterfuge. Look for example to the Varangian Guard who were often working mercenaries valued for not being tied to the politics of the Byzantine Empire, and thus unlikely to betray the emperor. Also consider that the kings of England for a long while made their personal guards a retinue of longbowmen taken from the ranks of the peasantry and chosen for their loyalty and valor.
Actually Arch, you are mistaken on the account of hammers relying on weight. A hammer is in fact in no noticeable way heavier than a sword, when you pick one up it only makes a difference due to the weight being in different spots. It is simply that it is balanced differently. Hence the Hammerers are probably much quicker than you'd give them credit for.
You’re right on the first part but I would have to disagree with you saying hammerers aren’t as slow as arch thinks because the hammers we use irl are completely different to these specific hammers that are made up of entirely metal and the head is twice the size of your head.
We sons of Grungni may have drunk deep from the bitter waters of misfortune, but we yet survive. Whilst a single Dwarf draws breath, we will fight the evils that assail us, and we will never, ever give up - Hengist Stonebelly, Dwarf Longbeard
The Fantasy Witch Hunters (Which are really a Knights Templar Order of Sigmar in origin) or the Witch Hunters of 40k which is an order of the Inquisition that came out as the aftermath of Goge Vandire's Reign of Blood and the tangentially related Plague of Unbelief?
I was asking for the sake of Arch really. I mean two organizations named Witch Hunters in two different settings, both of which he covers. Good to make sure so if he sees the comment and goes on it he knows to do the right one.
I think he meant fantasy which hunters, this is a fantasy lore video... also since everyone I know, who plays 40k and fantasy refer to witch hunters in fantasy as witch hunters, and refer to the 40k counterpart as Inquisitors.
Keep making vids like this Arch :D Can your next one be on Dark Elf Cold One riders or Chaos Forsaken (and how to differentiate them from a typical Chaos Spawn)
Break it down now, it's hammer time! Dodododod, can't touch this. This beard? Dodododo can't touch this. A hammer video? Well this sounds rather warhammerly.
kieran allen I feel a little envy from Sigmars side towards another, awkwardly similar character, who also likes to sit on a throne the whole damn day. "Im gonna create my own Space Marines, with Blackjack and dead heroes."
Well they do not have the blessing of the lady, but Dwarves are sturdy, hard headed and most of all short(er), so the canoneer might have aimed tad too high thinking he was fighting against the Chaos Warriors.
Ah warhammers are great against armored unit it would just kill you, not because of wounds or being like pierced by swords or arrows but by sheer of kinetic force of the hammer when you got a momentum on the hammer when you swing it . Warhammer in combat is lethal it would just breaking your skull and bones without causing wounds even you got shield they will just bash your shield breaking your arm bones in the process and bash your head with hammer next or any part of your body
Hey Arch, love your stuff, been binging over this break, could we get one over Tilea and Estalia? I've been playing the war hammer mod for ck2 and trying to restore the Myrmidian Empire, and I'd like to hear more about them.
Hi Arch. I normally love your lore videos, but this seems like left hand work. I have been looking at a picture of a dwarf with bare arms and wollen trousers, while you have been talking about heavy armor. What you said was interesting, but I really missed your slideshow of different pictures and figures.
If you haven't already arch, could we get a video about Iron Hands? I think you've done a video on Space Wolves, otherwise I'd ask for them. Also do you plan on doing lore videos on elite faction characters?
They have everything from Quarrelers and Thunderers to Flame Cannons and Gyrocopters. But in many situations big fucking hammers are enough to deal with most threats.
I have enjoyed your lore videos. I hope you notice this, and tell me what you think. Starfleet captains in the 41 millennium Captain Picard: Is arrested for heresy after arguing with an imperial missionary. He is released just before his execution on the orders of inquisitor Ravenor. They become best friends and spend many hours debating philosophy, together they write a book. Captain Kirk: Gets seduced by Slaanesh worshiping cultists, and becomes their leader. 5 years later he concurs planet filled with mutants and is reworded by becoming a daemon prince. Captain Sisko: Fits right into the imperial navy. He joins a crusade force. He and a local tech-priest come up with a poison that kills tau but is harmless to humans. They disperse said poison liberally. Captain Janeway: Functions as a mediator between an Eldar craftworld and a space marine chapter; they destroy a Necron tomb world. She becomes famous a crossed the galaxy for negotiating alliances. Captain Archer: Argues for tyranid rights, gets eaten.
What I don't get about the dwarfs is they're always being beaten by the Orcs n Gobbos! Losing Karaks every few centeries and never retaking them. Meanwhile, The Empire, Bretonnia drove them out of their lands within' a few centuries and Khemri before them.
Id be very surprised if dwarven armour isnt perfectly balanced on top of dwarfs having high endurance as well as them having the average strength of an adult chimpanzee.
It should be as real world plate armor that isn't costume armor but actual battle armor is made to order and tailored to the individual. So while 20kg or 44 lbs of armor sounds like its heavy real world plate armored suits are between 15 to 25 kg or 33 to 55 pounds and was worn in battle. The weigh is distributed across the body. So no single piece is all that heavy. Dwarfs being master craftsmen would totally make their armor custom made to fit them.
The dwaves armor isn't 20kg that is fair to heavy even for them. We can look at actual knights in the real world armor for that. A complete set of plate armor for a normal human weighs between 15-25 kg (33-55 lb) and that weigh is distributed across the entire body. So it's not like strapping weight to your back and chest and trying to move. The Dwarfs armor like a knights armor in the real world would be fitted to the individual dwarf. So he wouldn't feel that weight as much as you might if you were carrying that weight around on your back. Second thing the double headed hammer is more akin to a poleaxe only instead of an axe you have a double headed hammer. So they could actually block with it while wearing armored gloves and be just fine. If you want to test this try taking a knife or any blade and cutting through 3 mm thick 16 gauge steel backed by hardened leather. Hint there is a reason that swords developed a fine point to get into the gaps in plate armor and where considered a backup weapon after the invention of metal plate armor. So if the dwarf hammerer is wearing full plate armor and his attacker is dumb enough to swing at him with a sword he can easily block and counter attack moving similar to how you would move with other pole arms. And have no fear of a sword cutting into his knuckles . Oh and blunt force weapons are better against plate armor than bladed weapons. So he's probably going to laugh off the hit by a blade before knocking the opponent to the ground and smashing his skull in.
Arch while you are working on larger videos could your finish up the empire's kinghtly orders and to some regiments of Renown. maybe the Brentonnia's king Louen leoncoeur that be great. thank you for your hard work
I have a question do you plan on making a video on "Dreadnought" the thing that is twice the size of Terminator armor operated by some guy on a metal slab plate?
I'm guessing that you'll be covering something related to Space Hulk: Deathwing when it's out? | 0:13 - I'm thinking of the Hammerfall song "Bring the Hammer Down" for some reason. | 6:55 - That's painful just THINKING about it! | 7:55 - Striking object, actually. As it's blunt force damage.
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhm... shit, that actually is a question! I'd call it a dead heat, since Chaos Armour is inherently magical and can turn aside pretty much anything depending on the whims of Chaos, but Gromril is essentially the solid essence of Law (kind of anti-Warpstone) so there's nothing you can throw at it that it couldn't potentially just bounce away.
Listen I am a Warhammer (Fantasy) player I have played both 8th edition and AOS in my honest opinion AOS is not a bad thing we can all still play 8th edition which is the more complex one and is lots of fun I enjoy it when I have friends over and a long time to spend playing but being that I am a rather busy man I find that AOS is great for games that don't take up my entire day due to the turn system being faster than 8th edition I look upon AOS as being a quick and easy way to play and it is a great way to get new people into the hobby. Please tell me what you think until next time Sincerely Cole
Why wouldn't the dwarfs forge their hammers with a sharp spike on one end? That way a swing of the hammer does more than just shatter armor and bone, but also stabs a big gapping hole in the enemy.
Feh! Hammerers are glory hounds anyway v.v you know a truly thankless job? Being an Ironbreaker v.v now THAT'S is having balls of steel even for a dwarf! v.v
unfortunately the dwarves have not slapped heavy armour on the hammerers (not heavy by dwarven standereds anyway) for being equipped by and for kings i am disappoint at lack of 4+ armour
my only question with this is like they pick the best warriors but what if the best warrior only uses a sword and shield, would it be possible to become a "hammerer" while not using a 2handed hammer?
"hammer goes up and hammer goes down" your forgetting momentum based strikes there arch. granted gravity can do a lot to assist in a blow but unless the hammer is ungodly heavy as your implying it is... the dwarf swinging the thing is going to have to worry a bit more about his own strength than implied just to lift the bloody thing. but in a formation the vertical strikes would be more suited to combat than any other just for the ability to cram more bodies side by side. thinking about this has made me think of the mass comparison between the dwarf and his hammer and if the hammer is truly heavy enough then the only thing i can think about is a horizontal swing leading into a spinning top of a dwarf trying to control his swing... not exactly the spitting image of royal guard now is it?
"Clad Head-to-toe in heavy armor and weilding a massive two-handed hammerer..."
My god the dwarfs have invented an infinite recursion of soldiers wielding other soldiers as weapons!
Barley Sixseventwo which in turn worlds soldiers wielding soldiers
That sounds like a Dwarf Fortress thing. Like the coffin hammer, where a dwarf uses a steel coffin as a weapon and fills it with slain foes until it's as heavy as dark mater.

I just imagined a hammerer swinging another hammerer, who's swinging a hammer. Trully, a fearsome force
the hammer is actually swinging both hammerers like socks filled with....well whatever you put into the socks
Plus two attack.

When the only tool you have is a hammer, you start to think of all your problems as a kneecap.
ahhh yees. Lore video. God I love watching/listening to this video before sleep. If kids read fairytales as their bedtime story, then THIS is my bedtime story. Cheers Arch, I fucking love your lore videos
100%. Soothing as a blunt object colliding with your head. In a nice and reasonable manor.
0:40 - "Wielding a massive two handed hammerer." This needs to be a thing.
Stay away! I've got this heavily armoured ambidextrous dwarf and he's very heavy so im gonna drop him and let him do his thing and just catch my breath.
Thank The Emperor, more Warhammer Fantasy lore.
don't you mean thank sigmar? pretty sure thanking the emperor is more a 40k thing because they worship theirs like a god hence "god emperor" whereas anywhere i look in warhammer fantasy i see sigmar this and sigmar that.
Lazy Arch today, something interesting for nexst week though so dont "SOB" about it ;)
Arch Warhammer We get to learn about the Imperium's insane warrior nuns? Nice!
I see what you did there
earlyyy
Don't worry we won't go all sisters of battle on ya. We love you too much, that and the flamethrowers have yet to come in. :P
Are you going to do a video about the Nobz?
Was it me or the royal bodyguards happened to be from working class backgrounds (White Lions' lumberjacks, and Hammerer's blacksmiths)
Royal guards are still guards, and most guards are lower-class both in Warhammer and real-life.
Xirius The Soulwatcher A real Hammer on a Pole? Sure. A Warhammer hammer? Não really.
You’re right on the first part but I would have to disagree with you saying hammerers aren’t as slow as arch thinks because the hammers we use irl are completely different to these specific hammers that are made up of entirely metal and the head is twice the size of your head.
They're still covered in as much armor as a tank.
13 mins about a stuntie with an 'ammer? Just stomp 'em, ye git!
Love the Lore vids Arch! You have a great voice and charm while talking animatedly about warhammer and 40k lore.
Arch i find your videos Relaxing / Funny and essentially summary explanation to how Warhammer lore works keep it up man your doing a awesome job .
The dwarf is farting fire it seems.
To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me.
Very dangerous at short distances.
Great video as always! I'm not really that much of a fan of WH or WH40 but your lore videos are always a delight to listen to.
10:00 Core Hammer workout, it's a thing.
God finally! I've been waiting for you to do lore videos again of warhammer! I love you man! You Da BEST! WAAAGH!!!😝
"Fuzzy little creatures" - Thus another Grudge was added.

Arch Great Video your are the best lore master on youtube for fantasy and 40k warhammer
We sons of Grungni may have drunk deep from the bitter waters of misfortune, but we yet survive. Whilst a single Dwarf draws breath, we will fight the evils that assail us, and we will never, ever give up - Hengist Stonebelly, Dwarf Longbeard
Great video arch! Please do a video on the witch hunters I have no idea about their lore.
I know like who they are nd what they do I just don't know their lore
I was asking for the sake of Arch really. I mean two organizations named Witch Hunters in two different settings, both of which he covers. Good to make sure so if he sees the comment and goes on it he knows to do the right one.

Hammer goes up, Hammer goes down, Hammer goes up to reveal the poor sod that didn't catch the memo about "When Hammer goes down."
Yay! more dwarf lore!
🎵 I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, Digging a hole...🎵
I've actually used sledgehammers in workouts before. Keep in mind they are a lot lighter than the dwarves, but still
Keep making vids like this Arch :D
Can your next one be on Dark Elf Cold One riders or Chaos Forsaken (and how to differentiate them from a typical Chaos Spawn)
Break it down now, it's hammer time! Dodododod, can't touch this. This beard? Dodododo can't touch this.
A hammer video? Well this sounds rather warhammerly.
If the hammer is big enough, everything else looks like nails
Hey arch...u talked about humans with hammers in full plate armor fighting for long time periods right...😈😈😈
AGE OF FAILMAR!!!!
The Sigmarines arent even all human. hell there could be orcs in that armor. Who thought that was a good idea?
sigmar did
kieran allen I feel a little envy from Sigmars side towards another, awkwardly similar character, who also likes to sit on a throne the whole damn day.
"Im gonna create my own Space Marines, with Blackjack and dead heroes."
batman and captain america (space marines and stormcasts) both heros just different style
Hammer goes up, hammer goes down - you can't explain that!
Back shots from these guys would be nuts
TL DL Dwarves are fucking awesome !! (love you Arch)
Hammer to up, hammer go down, Orc go squish.
im glad arch content is back
6:45 like a canonball to the face?
Well they do not have the blessing of the lady, but Dwarves are sturdy, hard headed and most of all short(er), so the canoneer might have aimed tad too high thinking he was fighting against the Chaos Warriors.
so the dwarves are like that luchador from Killer 7 who deflects bullets by headbutting them?
I mean IF they hit will they survive?
captain rabbit Dice still have 1 in them don't they?
Yeah
I supposed to protect that dwarf stronghold but this one waaagh keeps kicking my ass...
Ah warhammers are great against armored unit it would just kill you, not because of wounds or being like pierced by swords or arrows but by sheer of kinetic force of the hammer when you got a momentum on the hammer when you swing it . Warhammer in combat is lethal it would just breaking your skull and bones without causing wounds even you got shield they will just bash your shield breaking your arm bones in the process and bash your head with hammer next or any part of your body
would you be able to show us a traditional dwarf army and show us how it would fight on the battle field
Hey Arch, love your stuff, been binging over this break, could we get one over Tilea and Estalia? I've been playing the war hammer mod for ck2 and trying to restore the Myrmidian Empire, and I'd like to hear more about them.
Stop! Hammerer Time.
The eternal guardians of Boatmurdered.
shame dwarf fortress training isn't cannon in warhammer
I'm noticing not once, not twice but thrice mentions of nut shots mentioned in lore so far. Orcs 2, Dwarves 1
We have good things coming? Yay!
That last Dwarf supplement was such a work of excellence, it hurts the heart that WHFB is dead.
It isn't dead! Fuck Age of Failmar! I refuse to believe the Old world is no more !
F*cking finally
Atleast something Fantasy and something dwarfish. Approved.
Aahh.. finally a honourable 13 minutes. There is hope for you yet I say.

This moment where your a Dorf and you litteraly have ball of gromill
you know what you know what thank you arch
Are you going to do more Fantasy more videos? Those are the best!
The rest are also grate, but I personally enjoy fantasy much more!
Thanks!
Arch can you do a video on the Longbeards and the Ironbreakers please?
You know something? i'm surprised I am not seeing STOP HAMMER TIME everywhere in the comments section...yet
When dwarves don't make good enough guns, like in Warcraft, they have to use more mundane weaponry, I guess.
It's not the size of the weapon that matters but how you use it.
Forest elfranger
Terribly, in this case
They have everything from Quarrelers and Thunderers to Flame Cannons and Gyrocopters. But in many situations big fucking hammers are enough to deal with most threats.
Mate. Are you trying to trigger me?
Alex Eget trigger a random guy, you sure think you are special, and in fact you are, but notin the way you think 😂😂
Great as always.
I have enjoyed your lore videos. I hope you notice this, and tell me what you think.

Dwarfs :D Obviously the best team. #WarhammerDwarfsFTW
Elves :D Has more diversity than those damned stunties #WarhammerElvesFTW#DwarvesShouldAllBeEnslaved
I hope you do a review on the Wood Elves DLC soon
What I don't get about the dwarfs is they're always being beaten by the Orcs n Gobbos! Losing Karaks every few centeries and never retaking them. Meanwhile, The Empire, Bretonnia drove them out of their lands within' a few centuries and Khemri before them.
These should be at least 2 hour long.
The hammerer wields a hammerer?
tim roddle & everything looks nail-ish.
Finally my army shows up
9:00 someone’s been reading 30k books.
Id be very surprised if dwarven armour isnt perfectly balanced on top of dwarfs having high endurance as well as them having the average strength of an adult chimpanzee.

Was about to die from being decapitated, but then Arch unloaded a video. Looks like i have to make it through until the next 13 minutes.

Moře Dwarf lore!
Blackguards of the Dark Elves? When? :)
So in gameplay perspective which do you prefer Arch? Hammerers or Ironbreakers?
Arch, you need to do an episode on the lore for Blood Bowl
I tought their first objective is getting hammered
Could you do a video of the Ulthuan defenses or something along those lines?
PD: Nice video
Iron breakers next.
Guardsmen approves.
can you do a video about the howling bashees?
What about allying with the vampire counts, elves and making peace with the skaven
arch will you do a space hulk video for the releace of deathwing ?
I thought you're talking about Space Hulks assention for a moment.
Dwarf Hammer time and a wonder who was better armor a Dwarf Hammerer of a chaos champion ?

Please do State troopers next!
do dwarf women have beards in warhammer?
I dont think so?
no
depends if they shave or not
(Dwarf in corner startd furiously writting in a notebook)
thats a grudgein
Hey Arch, are you planning on watching Hacksaw Ridge? I know you are a military history enthusiastic
my only question with this is like they pick the best warriors but what if the best warrior only uses a sword and shield, would it be possible to become a "hammerer" while not using a 2handed hammer?
you sir dont know your dorfs they dont use sword dey use axes hams and picks
Who would win , a small group of elite dwarven infantry or a bigger group ot khorne devoted norse berserkers ?
How about ironbreakers .
aren't the iron breakers also a bodyguard unit or is it elite like every single dwarf unit :)
