boatmurdered will always be a legendary dwarf reference.
Dwarves in lore: dying out slowly going extinct. Dwarves in game: ha our empire go brrrrrrrrrrr and they conquer the entirety of the map :/
Dwarves in game: rough start with orcs pushing them. Karak s fall (Karak Azul and Barak Varr, sometimes Izor due to Wood Elves). Then survivors, boosted by refugees, turn their industry purely towards war. And with Gromril and Napalm they grind the Urk, Grobi and Thaggoraki down.
And why? Because without Nagash eating Valaya, she awakens to usher in a new golden age for the Dawi.
Fits the lore perfectly. If not for Nagash, the Karaz Ankor would have been restored.
the dwarfs were not thriving, but despite what many think they are also not really going extinct, they were reclaiming before the world blew up, they were no longer losing holds, and they were gaining ground in eight peaks, even if they were to lose it, there foothold there was essentially impossible to take the dwarfs from even with combined skaven and orc assaults, with more advanced technology coming to the the dwarfs as there back is up against the wall (particularly with the current high king sucking up dwarf pride and using his gold to help pay for it) dwarfs were set for a long slow grind, but instead of that grind being on there destruction its on there enemies
on my game they are having an intense war with grimgor
To be fair the same goes for the Elves as a result of the War of the Beard
In all my campaigns but one, the dwarfs fall to the greenskins, almost all their old world clans extinct by turn 70
The Dawi unite! Karak Eight Peak shall be retaken! The book of grudges shall be cleared!

Both Warhammer and Tolkien-verse have so much depth. I'm so happy to live in a world where we can have two very different, yet equally interesting, universes.
@Calen Williams Yeah and it's also what I like about it. It doesn't have the quality of what Tolkien wrote, but it's fun and more lighthearted. And even though it does really feel like more "artifical" (as in you feel they wrote the lore to fit games and videogames), it also has simplistic fun to it.

They are hard, tough, sturdy as hell. I love this kind of archetype in fantasy. In the vermintide game, when the Slayer gets enraged he screams "Grimmmmmnir!", it's just so damn cool

Among all the order races, at least in the TW games.. The dwarfs are by far my favorites. The others are decent enough, but the dwarfs have that badass factor. Surviving for hundreds of years against hordes of orcs and skaven + they kicked the high elves out of the continent lol they are so cool and sturdy. I wish CA could rework them a little: add a proper soundtrack, shield wall tactics and a giant/monster kind of unit. The dwarfs are the only faction without a giant and that sucks, because a golem of (really hard) metal running with rune magic... That is a very neat concept

Also they canonically demolished the walls of a city they themselves had build because the rulers were to cheap to give them the two coins their payment was short of. True Lawful good!

I love the Dwarves. They're tied for my favorite faction with the Lizardmen, which makes it doubly sad that the earthquakes that screwed them so badly were the fault of the Slaan if I remember correctly. They get constantly hammered by bad luck and numberless enemies. For all the issues you can point to with Dwarf psychology, their real problem is birth rate. All of their enemies multiply like rabbits, and they appear to multiply like elves. If they just had a birth rate ten percent higher, they would probably be running all the mountains of the Old World.
This is why the Empire is the perfect ally for them. If they can keep the Empire unified and fulfilling the obligation of their alliance, the birth rate of humans would be enough to help get some of the pressure off of them long enough to recover.
No one recognizes "End Times". Wish people would stop jabbering about its nonsense

This was bloody excellent. Like a lot of Total War fans, I have loved the Warhammer series, but I had never read anything about the actual tabletop game until this came out. I love playing the Dawi, and so lore videos like this are just amazing and really help with the immersion. Cannot wait for video #2.
Personally would love to find out more about Red Eye Mountain and why its name changed from the original dwarf hold, along with Karak Eight Peaks, and is there is much lore, the dwarf holds in the mountain ranges close to Reikland and Brettonia.

Let it be writ large within the Dammaz Kron that some wazzok disliked this video. May his clan feel the burning shame of kinship with the dohazi for three generations.
You know what's weird. There's so many battles and wars the dwarfs have fought against Skaven and Orks but you never ever hear about conflicts with Chaos Dwarfs. Am I the only one who finds that weird? Like, I get their across the great wastes but I'd feel like they kinda blame the dwarfs for what happened to them, wars of vengeance and all.
I guess WH 3 will be alot of clashes especially close border for eachother :)
I think lorewise it might be like the High elves dark elves situation where they didn't talk about them because they are ashamed of them so they keep info short on them to look better. Also the Chaos dwarves usually don't expand out the darklands for the same reason the high dwarves don't. Low population
If you have common enemies, the orks and the four chaos gods and if you don't have to fight each other, why fight? Just stay away from each other and kill as many orks as you can.

I love these videos. Warhammer 2 is so aesthetic.
I really like the story telling, that's why the history of the Skaven has to be my favorite video. I know a lot of people may disagree with me here but I'm not a big fan of scenes from Total War. It kind of breaks from the immersion of the story, especially if I'm only listening and you just hear clanking swords and the like. I don't think it needs to be omitted entirely because at times I do like the visual representation as well, but maybe a little less of the battles, sacrilege ik it's warhammer lol.

Ok also counter mining and simply collapsing tunnels used by invaders on their heads should have been simple for the shorties. It's much easier to collapse a mine shaft than to dig it. Jeezus this story is ok but a little logic here and there would've made it good or maybe even great. Gw once again phones it in and charges like they were all invested.
Crazy how all this lore just got dumped down the toilet to sell shinier toys.
