Every time Batwoman tries to do social commentary, the writers seem to make it more about their own politics than the issue itself or the people they think they're representing. I'd tell them not to quit their day jobs, but that's exactly what I want them to do. I'm not saying issues like this shouldn't be examined and talked about, but the best place to do that probably isn't by writers as juvenile, sophomoric and just plain bad as this on the comic book show about a woman who dresses up in a bat costume to fight crime.
Thankfully, you watch the show for me, but I have however had the displeasure of watching 3 episodes from Season 1. Batman earned his stripes. He learned how to be a great detective. He traveled the world to learn how to fight. He didn't kill. Everything he did, he earned through blood and sweat. On this show, Batwoman doesn't earn anything. Just show up at places and do stuff. Like the Disney Star Wars Trilogy. To quote The Drinker, Nah, it'll be fine!
*I really don't think you need to justify blatant common sense with appendix's like "I'm not saying (insert widely discussed issue)".* Everyone watching already understands what you're saying, and the only people who don't are those looking to cause a problem. Also, what they do isn't legitimate social commentary, it's just a mélange of misinfo and bigotry. Most criminals on the show, hell even animals are held in higher regard than Luke. So terrified of black men there's no other choice but to emasculate them entirely, really shows where the production's morals lie.
For a moment I was legitimately wondering whether or not Luke would die or not. One the one hand this is a CW,meaningful, emotional drama, real stakes, actions having consequences, not on our show, we have an agenda to push. And a show based on a comic which means that death can be undone with some stupid MacGuffin (desert rose, which doesn't even grows on a desert so why call it that ?) or another universe plot. But on the other hand Luke have become ''problematic''. He showed interest in a women and we know that on this show heterosexuality is the devil. He and Mary told off Batwomen a couple of times, the Asian women gets a pass but we can't allow mansplaning, I'm sorry, batsplaning. They might have just kill him to make a room for this black lesbian teenage hacker and have her become a sidekick, because she's the besstest ever. Side note: Am I the only one that is disgusted by the Gay Spider comment about Luke ? There is a person on their death bed and the first thing that comes to your mind is ''He's hot.'' ? He really is just a perverted gay and nothing else.
What I would give to see Batwoman as a villain in some Batman project...and for him to take her down, and let her know how much her bitching is kind of an insult to actual victims
Bruce: "You have to choose Luke, life or-" Luke: "Death." Bruce: "Err, you didn't let me finish, I was going to say-" Luke: "I choose death." Bruce: "Uh..." Luke: "Get me out of this nightmare!"

@@kingagrabowska9366 It’s almost funny how gay people on the CW are nothing more than caricature stereotypes, and so few either call it out or have an issue with it.
@@bunnywithakeyboard7628 Stereotypes don't come out of nowhere (propaganda, misunderstanding, flanderization, tradition and many more ). I'm sure there are people like this character. Have you seen people that go to pride month marches ? It could have been a great moment to show that despite being a living ''be gay, do crime'' meme, he is more then that, he has a moral compass (better then Alice), can show gratitude for saving his life by Mary, but no. This is a CW, where good ideas and potential go to die.
You may think that some male characters get emasculated. Imagine being brought to the point where you ask the afterlife to let you die and then get brought back against your will. That’s a whole new level.
Luke: I can escape? I can leave? I don't have to remain on Batwoman? Oh thank God, it's finally over... Mary: Where the hell do you think you're going?! You've still got at least one whole season to film, now start whining and take your Desert Rose like the crybaby you are!!
I didn't think the writers could make Mary's character sink any lower but seeing her walk pass all the sick suffering people knowing she has the desert rose (that can cure a lot of people) just to get to Luke was despicable!
Remember when they made an all cure out of her blood for the bat rabies in the 2nd ep? Now they have a better material to make another all cure but nooo....
You think that having the desert rose cure all would make Mary a Nobel prize winner for contributing to medicine and mankind in general. That would earn her medical degree early. Heck it would evolve her underground illegal abortion clinic becoming a legitimate medical clinic. Using her billions to give patients free healthcare. Making Gotham slowly becoming great. Not needing Batman to become Gotham’s symbol of hope.
It always makes me sick when a supposedly good character does that kind of thing. My one legit complaint with the old Stargate movie was when Daniel Jackson does something similar
Mary finally uses the Desert Rose and it's only to save Luke, not one of her patients. It just goes to show that running that clinic is only for her own self-satisfaction.Poor Luke, he just wanted to see his dad again and be at peace, but the writers had to drag him back into the world of living. Ryan finally takes responsibility for something, but it's too late to salvage his character.
She shouldn't even have patients at this point, she isn't even a resident, Ryan isn't taking responsibility for this, like any other SJW, she is a narcissist and is making it all about her
Yeah and this miracle cure isn't just the plant, you can basically take blood from anyone you gave the Desert Rose and use that as a miracle cure for potentially hundreds. You know you'd think Mary would maybe administer it as a cancer treatment or something?
There is a strip where a zombie is looking for brains and passes by a group of people on their phones in faux outrage drinking their lattes and the like; keeps saying brains and walks right by them. This show is that.
22:02 So basically Ryan has The Joker's mindset. Only with him his "Burn the system down. Chaos and anarchy are the only way" beliefs are him trying to justify the sick evil things he does. But here with Ryan it's framed as some heroic motivational speech.
I could see "burn it all down" if you've got an organization with a corrupt leadership, but if Jacob (the guy with total control over the Crows) legitimately wants to come clean and fix things, why not let him try to change things? I mean if she trusts him enough to burn it down, why not trust him enough to fix it?
@@8nicopink868 pretty much. It's not about justice. It's about revenge. Revenge for what and against who? Doesn't matter. The message is all the matters.
"If Alice would have experienced love earlier in life, she wouldn't have become a monster." I am not surprised the writers already have forgotten about Mouse.
@@harrambou9468 His voice intimation powers alone had more potential than literally every other villain in this show ever could have. He was so underutilized, it wasn't even funny.
I wonder if the actor who plays Luke was hoping for him to die when he first heard he would be shot. In order to get off the show and save his acting career.
Probably the only thing that could have made this make sense is that when Luke chose death the door opened and Lucifer looked in said "Oh wrong door." and now we know that this whole show takes place in Luke's Hell loop.
14:50 Also, Ryan "takes responsibility " for something stupid but accurately avoids acknowledging that she has REAL responsibility for the actions that led to their incarceration in the previous episode, by being antagonistic first towards the police and then towards Luke himself when he was trying to deescalate the situation. She's clueless.
I'm convinced the writers and producers of this show not only hate the whole world, but hate themselves as well. Hard to come up with likable characters when you have that combination.
I love the self awareness when Alice has to point out how often the Crows' garage gets broken into. And I just love how these deus ex machina life saving drugs appear and disappear when they need to
Bruce: “Luke you have a choice here!” Luke: “Ok I want to die.” Bruce: “you you can’t do that.” Luke: “WHY?” Bruce: “Because you’re black, you don’t get a choice.”
I feel as if the show is best summed up by this quote from KOTOR II: "Apathy is death. Worse than death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds the beasts and insects."
I loved when Batwoman couldn't find the internet. Like you said, it could've been played off as showing how vital Luke was, but came across more like Mary was helping her a grandma who couldn't find a button labeled "the internet". As much as I couldn't stand Kate, at least she knew where "the google" was on the Batcomputer. Ryan is the Milli Vanilli of crime fighting.
This is worse than Finn in TLJ where he's not allowed to make a sacrifice. Luke Fox is not allow to accept his own fate and die peacefully after he made it clear that life will never accept him because he's a POC.
Luke doesn’t even have the agency to choose what he wants to do with his own life. And he’s supposed to be Batwing, a guy with zero agency. And I find that text Mary sent to Jacob about being proud of him disgusting. He disbanded his own job that he tried so hard to keep honest, God knows how long he’s going to be finding work with the Crows reputation on his resume
Let me guess: Spineless Jacob's bad decision to end the Crows (couldn't just get rid of the bad agents) will lead to an increase in crime and force Luke to become Batwing to help the overwhelmed Batwahmen?!! Batwahmen applying ice for her sore side over her "hard to penetrate" bat suit was funny.
These are "abolish the police" folk so I expect them to write crime magically away once the crows dissapear, just as they think will happen in real life... since they are stupid.
It would have been perfect for it to end with Luke opening his eyes expecting to be in heaven and after seeing where he is its implied he screams "Fuck!"
Lol seriously the dude never once in the first like 40 episodes of the series once mentioned he was “bullied” for being black and now he has ptsd and cries non stop over the last 3 episodes about it
Who wants to bet that the writers only portrayed Tavaroth as corrupt and trigger-happy now after watching Thorias' videos and realizing that they've done nothing but telling instead of showing? They have Sophie *tell* us that he's reckless and dangerous, but they show us he's the most responsible, focused and capable Crow on the show since he follows orders, looks out for his comrades, and does things by the book. At least, Roblez from last season had some build up with Lucius Fox's death being brought up in episode 6 and then everything being resolved (however, poorly) in episode 17, Tavaroth just comes out of nowhere to be used as a prop for the writers to push a heavy-handed narrative about abuse of power and police brutality when they treat two vigilantes with no moral compasses, who never hold themselves accountable for their mistakes and continuously let criminals go free (Kate with Alice, Ryan with Angelique) as infallible goddesses who everyone should look up to as role models. Who needs talent, creativity or passion when all you have is agenda, right, Hollywood?
>Tavaroth is willing to do anything to cover up his crimes >Tavaroth is being persued by Batwoman who seems to have evidence against him >Tavaroth hates Batwoman >Tavaroth managed to kick Batwoman's ass and head butts her into his buddy's car >Tavaroth has her incapacitaited and dead to rights >Tavaroth gets in the car and drives away >Tavaroth gets in the car and drives away *>Tavaroth gets in the car and drives away*
In a properly written story she would be ended rightly either because the suit CANNOT absorb bullshit amounts of kinetic energy or the villain would stick his gun in her mouth and give her a hit load down her throat. But this is Batwoman so of course the bad guy must run away from the almighty 'hero.'
Yeah, lol. I was thinking the same thing when he just drove away. He has backup nearby, he has batwoman down. Why is he running instead of arresting or killing her?
Also, Luke attributes his shooting to being black... But curiously we never see it being properly established. Tavaroff and the rest of the gang never say anything about Luke's race.
Not only that, but we never even see Tavaroff show any racist tendencies before that either. Arguably the only semi-racist thing you can imagine he did was assuming that Batwoman had a criminal record (presumably because she's black), but even that's a stretch. I mean someone that beats up people with their bare hands commonly probably would have a history of assault and battery before they started wearing a costume, so it's really not all that unusual an assumption.
No you are missing the point. They are white and racists. So they think that every white person MUST be like them and be racist too. It’s a delusion they convinced themselves of to continue feeling normal instead of the horrible people they truly are. Not all white people are racists. But these left folks are! 🤷🏾♂️
@@taragnor and also hanging up a guy and starving him till he gives her information, Batman was never this inhumane, yes he beat people up for information... when he found a straggler at a location but he would only keep doing that till the Police arrived which would take around a couple of minutes.
I mean, what else would you expect of writers who wrote their main protagonist as a falsely accused criminal who had drugs planted on her and a force confession forced out of her, yet in just 4 to 5 episodes, actually reveal that yes, not only did she actually happen to be in possession of actual drugs and what she accused the Crows of doing to be completely false, she was also running with and in the company of actual criminals. So maybe, just maybe, take what those same writers say with an ocean of salt.
Man...Luke just wanted to get off this show but he couldn't even do that...As long as there are more ways for the writers to humiliate him he's here to stay....
@@thoriasunlimited4053 In other words, par for the course for this show. Kate stole all of Bruce's stuff, Ryan had the Batsuit fall out of the sky in front of her, and Luke has done nothing except be a punching bag because we can't have men look good in this show. So no surprise there.
My understanding of Batman leads me to believe an illegal underground abortion clinic would be asking for some kneecap shattering justice if he was still in the picture.
Oh, yay. Batwoman... The period blood flower stuff gets stupider when you remember that it works when you just take the blood of someone who has been healed with it and inject it into another person. Ryan was healed with the period blood flower, so all she needed to do was pump some of her blood into him. Wow. I didn't even notice how inconsiquental Luke is on this show. Despite being one of the better characters on the show, they may as well cut him lose since he's so useless anyway. With Ryan, I'm convinced she has a victim complex and can't function unless she feels like she's being blamed for something; she makes Luke's injury all about her because she can't feel bad about it unless she's personally responsible. Any bets on the janitors finding the bat tech Sophie and Ryan left behind and learning Batwoman's identity, too? So, when Ryan goes to download the files to exonerate Luke, how are there hundreds? If they delete daily at 3am, then the only footage should have been from that day. Why not just download them all while saving Jacob? Jacob disbanding the Crows is a very bad thing; they helped the police deal with crime. With them gone, isn't crime going to go up and go unpunished? And the GCPD are supposedly worse than the Crows, according to the show, and they're now the only form of law enforcement, besides Batwoman. Do these writers seriously think that this can pan out in any positive way? Who am I kidding; of course they do. They probably think that the crime will go down to 0 if they open a community center on every corner, so they don't need cops, either. Thinking about that hospital scene from Luke's perspective is even funnier when you remember that he wakes up to Ryan and Mary smiling at him. After choosing to not put up with life's shit anymore, he's greeted by the smiling faces of the two women in his life who bully and berate him at every turn. If I were him, I would have started crying at the reality I was suddenly stuck in. Not gonna lie, though, I'm interested in where Luke will go from here; he chose to die, yet got dragged back into the hellish world of Batwoman. Is he going to be suicidal, or depressed, or perhaps determined to make the world a better place now that he's back in it? But, this is Batwoman, so they probably won't do anything good with it. It's just funny that Batwoman is at it's best when it has nothing to do with Batwoman.
@Spaced Oyster Ah good point! I'd totally forgotten about that! And it seems the writers did too because they never reread their old episodes. Wow, how pitiful they are.
So apparently Luke's going to become Batwing by seasons end or next season and this episode was supposed to start him on that path. And I got to ask does anyone want this? I know their are Batwing fans out their but this version of Luke as displayed zero skills as a crimefighter and he'll just be Batwoman's sidekick and keep getting no respect from her. I used to love it when they introduced new heroes on these shows or made existing characters into heroes but that was when they set it up properly which we know these writers couldn't do if their lives depended on it
It’s sad because the actors playing Luke and Bruce did a really good job with what they were given. Camrus Johnson and Warren Christie are really trying to make that scene as good as possible.
i remember when in arrow felicity for some reason wasn't there and they made a scene explaining she left some auto running programs to complete specific tasks for them while she was away. seems to much to ask to the writers of this "show"...
The direction of comic book shows nowadays makes me glad that the Avengers and Arrow storylines ended because all comic book shows are virtual signaling propaganda that will be forgotten over time.
Batwoman is so bad that even satan himself wouldn’t use this as torture because even touching the dvd or Blu-ray of this show would be torturous for his immortal hands and soul to even express.
The only person ever shown to have worked in Wayne Enterprises is in coma in a hospital ... Not that him being there would prevent Alice from entering anyway ...
This show is a shockingly (though unintentionally) accurate representation of the woke mindset. Vapid, manipulative, self- congratulatory and incoherent.
Hell Luke dying would've been his way out of this shitshow. But now that he is alive he is going to go and become Batwing and they are going to castrate that character in the future and it will be a nightmare to go through.
Well, duh. We just need community centers! That’s clearly a substitute for police! Community centers are a 100% guarantee that crime will completely go away. This is why I question how anyone can actually love this show and agree with its messages.
At this point they should make a show about what goes on in the Batwoman’s Writers Room. Something tells me that would be more interesting than the actual show itself.
Oh boy. If I remade Batwoman, I would made it into some GTA sandbox like the Batman Arkham series. But I would at least make the story more focused on the ladies who happen to fight crime in vigilante costumes while posing like normal civilians when not in costume mode. Being criminals by day. Vigilantes by night. A GTA game heavily focused on vigilantism policing and militarism side of crime.
'Omg Luke's been shot!' So? 'He could die!' You have a magical flower that can literally cure any known disease and fatal wound. There's no danger from anything short of decapitation and even then I'm not 100% sure rubbing magical flower juice on the stump won't regrow someone's head.
@King Slayer Nah, Luke is Batwing in the comics. Problem is he's been emasculated since the first episode. They really lean on ironman for how suits work smh
@@LostOneOmega I mean yeah Luke has been done dirty up to now. But I like to think of it in the same vein as Cisco from the flash, he used to be a nerdy scrawny guy, then he went out into the field. Plus this will do Luke some good
these writers forgot that the real Batman has info about every villain he's ever faced on his batcomputer. the reason not use it being they don't want Batfake to be "mansplained" to.
Yeah not to mention Luke didn't even try to use the batcomputer to crack the cipher in that one episode. Instead he's trying to crack the thing by hand with pencil and paper. Like if only he had access to a highly advanced supercomputer...
The standard Power Ranger trope is The Enemy is your long-lost Sister/Brother and the character development isn't as forced. Batwoman has this with Kate and Alice. Kate is supposed to be irrelevant with the new Batwoman, yet Alice gets the redemption storyline arc which is more interesting that what Ryan is getting. I feel more empathy with Alice than with Ryan.
@@alexxs7evin Agreed. And that's a problem when you're more willing to root for the villain/antagonist than the ACTUAL protagonist of the show. It shows what a poor job the writers have done. IMO, it's not one of the worst shows on TV because it replace Teen Titans 2003 or because it's more geared towards kids, no, it's because the Teen Titans themselves are HORRIBLE and such unlikable characters that you can never root for.

Yeah lol. The writers just come up with an amazing amount of bullshit. Not to mention they claimed that there wasn't dates on any of footage which made it hard, which is stupid because all computers track dates on every file that's created. It's all just plot contrivances created by some of the worst writers I've ever seen.
Apparently, those hundreds of files were all from that day. Or maybe the files are from every branch since the Crows are a multi-national corporation somehow lol.

Luke will play a more important role soon with the Bat-Wing pics they posted. In the comics he's Bat-wing, a batman like character that didn't last long. Knowing this show they'll probably make him the beta male sidekick to Ryan lol. Great job dude, btw not sure if you heard somehow Batwoman got inked for a season 3 🤣.
of course its easy to make Luke seem disposable. his only worth to the writers is his black skin but his twig&berries almost negates all that along with his straightness. he is so low on the victim totem pole he is barely two steps above straight white men.
I've never watched Batwhaman but I look forward to watching your reviews. They are highly entertaining. I hope this show goes on forever. The 2 weeks without your review was kind of depressing.
About Luke choosing to live or die, there was an argument there. Many people have said something to the effect of ‘choosing to live’ is more important than the machines forcing your body to live - you shut down your consciousness and just...stop. I have never been in such a situation, but it is definitely possible that people who have assistance to stay alive could just give up and the machines would only let that person hang on. The engine can run, but until someone pushes the accelerator, that car goes nowhere. Beyond that, this show is still pretty horrible. Thanks for suffering through it for the rest of us.
There is only one logical option for why Black Mask is obsessed with the Kane family…. And with it being logical, it won’t be part of this series: if I’m not mistaken (I’m not a comic book historian) Roman Sionis has bad history with Bruce Wayne, similar to Tommy Elliot, which really makes me wonder why Black Mask and Hush aren’t trying to team up on this series. In any case, Bruce is MIA, Roman wants revenge on Bruce, and in order to draw Bruce out, he is trying to find any and all connections to Bruce in order to use them to smoke him out…. Though why Roman doesn’t know that Alice is really Beth Kane, I couldn’t say. I thought that had basically become public knowledge, but I guess not. Instead, we will have some nonsense excuse for it, like Roman Sionis is really the son of Jacob Kane from another woman when he cheated on Gabbi or before meeting Gabbi, and Roman wants the legacy he deserves, or some other nonsense.
Yeah I'm not expecting a satisfying conclusion to Black Mask story Especially since the show has made zero effort to develop it or making him a threatening villain and with only 3 or 4 episodes left I doubt they'll turn it around
I was thinking the same thing in regards to why Mary isn't at the hospital. Of course, I already figured that they would use the Desert Rose. 11:00 Has there ever been any evidence to refute the second one? Actually, Tavaroff assaulting Jacob was not in full view of everyone, as Jacob did that thing that made it so you can't see through the window from outside. No idea why he felt the need to do that (aside from "the plot said so"). How no one aside from Tavaroff's lackeys was around to see him carry off the unconscious commander... I mean, Alice did point out at the end how bad all of the Crows are at their jobs.
From the photos I have seen released by CW Luke's suit looks better than Batwoman's suit and that's not a high achievement to accomplish but if your supporting characters looks better than your main lead I'm just saying 🤷🤷
It looks *WAY* better. Sadly, it's for this pile of rancid garbage, so that kills any excitement. I wish they'd just cancel this show, retcon it out of continuity, and start a new show focused on Luke as Batwing, since he's clearly the most likable character here.
Well luke is black. So it overrides his straightness... Slightly.
How do you think Jacob feels?

It's like we are in Wonderland.
Jacob might become a villain with the way he's treated.
Kill-Bat-Woman,

Also, how does that plant grow and stay alive IN A CAVE?!?

Probably the only thing that could have made this make sense is that when Luke chose death the door opened and Lucifer looked in said "Oh wrong door." and now we know that this whole show takes place in Luke's Hell loop.

>Tavaroth is willing to do anything to cover up his crimes
>Tavaroth is being persued by Batwoman who seems to have evidence against him
>Tavaroth hates Batwoman

In a properly written story she would be ended rightly either because the suit CANNOT absorb bullshit amounts of kinetic energy or the villain would stick his gun in her mouth and give her a hit load down her throat.

Honestly had he ended her right there he'd be my favorite character right after mouse for running kate over with a truck
My understanding of Batman leads me to believe an illegal underground abortion clinic would be asking for some kneecap shattering justice if he was still in the picture.
Mary would be in intensive care if Bruce was there.
Mary would be enjoying some grappling-hook-assisted inversion therapy!
I'm impressed with the writers.
No-one thought this shit could get worse but they manage to do it every week.
Oh, yay.

I honestly hope they write off Jacob/Dougray Scott. All they have him do is literally be yelled at by other people no matter what he does.
They need some white guy there to lecture with their non-sensical morals.
My biggest issue is this:
What will happen to the city now since the impression is that the GCPD and Crows were barely holding the line?
I mean, they weren't really doing anything so it's probably gonna stay the same
What will happen to Sophie? Last season her mom said she needed the Crows income to survive. Is she gonna get a $12/hr job at the gay bar like Ryan?
Well, the Crows seemed to hurt/kill as many people as they helped, if not more. It's possible the crime rate might actually decrease with them gone.
A GTA game heavily focused on vigilantism policing and militarism side of crime.

of course its easy to make Luke seem disposable. his only worth to the writers is his black skin but his twig&berries almost negates all that along with his straightness. he is so low on the victim totem pole he is barely two steps above straight white men.
Season 2 Finale is sunday june the 27th.
Yeah I'm not expecting a satisfying conclusion to Black Mask story
Especially since the show has made zero effort to develop it or making him a threatening villain and with only 3 or 4 episodes left I doubt they'll turn it around
From the photos I have seen released by CW
Luke's suit looks better than Batwoman's suit and that's not a high achievement to accomplish but if your supporting characters looks better than your main lead I'm just saying 🤷🤷
It looks *WAY* better. Sadly, it's for this pile of rancid garbage, so that kills any excitement. I wish they'd just cancel this show, retcon it out of continuity, and start a new show focused on Luke as Batwing, since he's clearly the most likable character here. Oh, and just to be clear, get new, better writers for that.
Seriously
HOW?!
Did they put more effort NOW??
XD
His expression at the beginning of this video was classic.
I wonder how much editing the next few episodes got in order to make it semi-adjustable !
Been a while, but that was worth the wait. Any plans to cover Loki?
I read that Loki is Gender Fluid(s)
Saw the first episode, looks interesting so far
@@Hanmacx I think they're trying to play the shape shifter angle. But Loki never played the "gender fluid" card to me.
@@penguintaco9038 nah it legit says fluid under the gender tab.
@@Vamp19vv shiiiiiit
Goodbye Loki.
Thank you for always suffering for us 🙏🏼

to edit a gun into his hand will take one serious super computer and one super pro visual effects artist to edit, replace and render in 3 hours and trust me. He will spend that 3 or 4 hours just on the physics on the gun in his hand and how to make it realistic.
@Thorias Unlimited
I'm working in the industry and I'm telling you, It is almost impossible.
Reminded me of The Running Man (80s movie)
And their Ultra Photoshop for video
In 2021 WE STILL DON’T HAVE THAT!
