Just a quick video giving an overview of the steps necessary to procure an 01 or 02 FFL.
Here's the detailed info I promised.
All this information can be found, FOR FREE, by going to www.atf.gov/firearms/how-to/be...
How to get your FFL:
Call the Distribution Center at (202) 648-6420.
Tell them you need the following forms:
ATF F 5310.12 (Form 7)
ATF F 5330.20 - Certification of Compliance
Two FD--258 (Fingerprint Identification Card) for each person to be listed as a Responsible Person on the FFL.
Fill out the forms correctly.
Get your fingerprints taken (INK ONLY, NO ELECTRONIC).
Send forms, two passport photos, and $200.00 to the ATF.
Wait.

I just saw that this man passed. Seemed like a great guy. Rest in peace, catch you on the other side brother.
What happened?
@@hellothere7345 he unfortunately took his own life

Rich, just wanted to tell you I watched this about 14 months ago. You got my pumped up to do something I always wanted to do. Well this April it will be one year as a home based FFL. All by myself, not hard at all. Fed part was easy, state and local part a little more work but no show stoppers. Doing OK, many transfers, some sales. People are asking me to go class III so I will in July. Thanks for talking me into doing this (still weird to have guns delivered to you front door).
Mark
Looking back was it worth it? Is there a lot of bookkeeping?
I'm sorry to see the comments about this man's suicide. I stumbled across this video today, and came into the comments to say thank you for how he treated warning people they might be working with special needs individuals. I've lived and worked with special needs people my whole life and what he did is exactly how you should treat both working with those people and telling others they might be doing the same.
i have my ffl and i finally got the phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range in today. it was backordered for 30 years but its now in stock
Do you accept on line orders with credit card. Put me on the waiting list if you sell out before you received my order,
Have care when operation is near mirrors don't send a burst down range if you don't mean to!!!! Work and play safe. Don't buy cheep eye protection...

Underrated comment
My sugestion if you do run your FFL from your home or garage, make it a DETACHED GARAGE with its own address. For example: if your address is 123 someplace ave, then your garage should be 123.5 someplace ave.
The reason for that is ATF has the ability to come and audit your FFL business when they want. They may never, but they can. If your FFL is attached to your home address, attached garage or in your home itself, they can look over your entire home. If you don't mind that OK, but I simply don't like them going through my house when it is completely unnecessary
Really, commited suicide ? why, life is so cruel ? He looks pretty jolly here ! I had all the licenses, FFL, Black Powder Storage Permit, etc... When Mr. & Mrs.. Climpton got in the ATF took away my license. The excuse was I did not have a Mall storefront Business. What a crock. They took many licenses & permits away from law abiding dealerships ! I tried to fight them . Even contacted the "Great" NRA. They stonewalled me and eventually did nothing ! That is why I quit the NRA. They are a front and full of BS. All they want is your membership fe every year. After that you are nothing to them.
Rip
They “suicided” him
He went into debt to start an ammo company and didn't receive enough orders to make up the difference. He could have filled bankruptcy but decided to eat a bullet.
NRA is trash
"When you call the ATF be prepared to deal with someone who may be mentally handicapped' RICH LMAO!!!
While researching whether I should apply for an FFL I saw your video - late June. Within 35 Days I was holding my FFL in my hand. Your video was very insightful and true to the experiences one would encounter during the application process. Thank You Sir!!
Very helpful. Thanks. I got an FFL years ago when I was very young. I had no money and the people I knew had no money, so I never sold or bought even one gun. One thing I remember was that the process was surprisingly easy! I found the websites described above before I found this video and I immediately knew something was up. Thanks again for the FREE help.
What about becoming an SOT so you can purchase full auto weapons
Waiting
its an experience i hear, and a long process, just know this, if you have full autos and your ffl runs out, you must either destroy the receivers or sell them ASAP before expiration or else atf will probably say hello to you
mastersergant128 You can likely make arrangements for it to be transferred to an SOT-3 and then sold back to you for $0.01 (not including stamp) after filing an ATF Form 4.
Dr. Z do u have to get a ffl to get a sot and which sot do I need just to personally own a automatic not trying to sell them
Dr. Z how are they going to sell it back to you for a penny if it's not a transferable MG? They can't. If it is a transferable MG then you wouldn't need the license to buy it in the first place... just a shit load of $.
Thanks man you answered a lot of my personal questions. Appreciate taking the time to help a fellow gun lover.
This was the clearest video I've seen on the subject. Awesome.
Your a straight shooter, and you tell it like it is, enjoyed your video, and there should not be any questioned because like you said call the FFL phone number they have all the
answers. Thanks for the heads up, USMC Viet nam 1967-69, and retired.
This really helped me. I have been considering getting my FFL. I had no idea what to do or where to start. I was just going to ask the cops about it. Thanks for the great content
Great Video. Thanks for taking the time to explain the process.

Thanks so much for the info. This should really help a lot of people out!
Love the honesty. Good info.
Thanks for your dedication at getting out this info sir, the control you demonstrated making this video as opposed to indulging your need for annihilating pixelated images shows true altruistic intent to the needs of others.
Thank you very much I got mine a year ago your video was my guide to got it I appreciate your time.
Thanks for the info. Real down to earth style and well done.
I know this is an older video, but thank you for the information. I have worked at a local gun store for the last few years and I am now thinking about branching out on my own as apart time hopefully one day full time firearm seller and gunsmith. All the best to you and any future information would be greatly welcomed. Hancock Brewer
Brother all I can say is thank you. You have saved me a ton of work and kept me from wasting money. Thanks again!!
One of the nicest guys I never met! Great video and great advice man thanks a lot!
Hi, and thank you. Your info is still relevant today, you helped me to get my FFL. Thanks
Donald Westhoff did you have to have a business license?
Great informative video. This cleared A LOT of things up for me. I also agree that someone should not get into the gun business unless they love firearms. Keep the great vids coming.
Thank You!!! This is a very informative video. You covered all of the bases and gave super info on what to expect. Great Job!!!
Well done, Thank you! I found the information to be very valuable.
Rich. Thank you for all the FFL info. Very informative !
I want to thank you for making this video instead of playing Battlefield on release day, that was a fantastic presentation of the steps needed to obtain an FFL. Very straight forward crossing the t's and dotting the I's.
Thank you for posting. Much needed info in terms we can all understand.
Very good information sir! Thank you.
Thank you very much for your informative post. It is very helpful since I am planning to apply for my FFL. You kept it short and simple and not long winded. I look forward to view more of you post. Again Thanks.

Thank you very much for the information - and straight shooting, too!
Thanks bro. Your doing a good service for the new guy, like me.
Really great information, answered just about every question I had! Thanks!

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS INFORMATION, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT A LOT.
I love the way you tell it like it is! Very helpful and I hope to be getting my FFL soon!
Really appreciate the great video; you took all the trepidation out of the process.
Thank you! Good job my friend!
Thank you! ....and subbed! I am looking into gun smithing and this has helped immensely. Any other useful links or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the advice! I watched this about a month ago and you inspired me to do what I have wanted to do for a while. Mailed in my package yesterday. You were right about the people who answer the phone when I ordered my FP cards...had to repeat my info 5 times to get it right. At least they were friendly. So now I wait for the phone call. Question: Is there a good site for FFLs for resources, questions, etc.? One you can recommend? Thanks!!! Love your vids...
Hey thanks for taken the time to give us all abit of FFL info there. Even though I'll probably never go through hoops of getting one I still like to hear whats all involved :)
Lots of helpful info ,thanks for the video
Great video. You informed me on everything I needed to know.
Man you are the best thank you for helping us and make it so simple and easy thanks for your time .
really enjoy your videos ...lot of great information
Thank you for the great information this is an awesome video really help me out a lot the only question I have is that I am setting up a home-based FFL for Gunsmithing/saleing but would like to go to a couple gun shows a year just to advertise my products for Gunsmithing does that affect anything? Or is it only selling guns at gun shows only?
Thanks for the info and your honesty
Hey that was a great video. Do I have to have a separate location from my home for a home base license. I guess if I'm still preparing for a garage to be built will I have to wait to apply?
Rich I thought you where pulling my leg, about the phone call to order the forms. thanks for the info Old Man we need more videos too.
that is one of the best videos i have ever watched! informative but to the point. i have wanted to try and get my ffl for a long time but never applied because i was always told it would be to much money. i litteraly just ordered all the forms on line two minutes ago.
cant wait to see them in my mail box. keep up the great vids!!!!
Great video, lots of information. You answer my question. Thanks God Bless you.
man your video just answered a lot of my questions, thanks
Excellent video! I had no idea how to go about it, but I was able to download all the forms while watching the video. Kingfisher county jail still uses ink to fingerprint with. I found that out first hand, or both hands actually. Throw up a partition in the garage, send off the forms and wait. I'll be a gun dealer in a couple of months. Fantastic!
Thank you so much for this information! I appreciate it!
Very informative. It is amazing how many gun store owners don't know this information. Maybe because the four that are in my town have been around since JFK was in office or they didn't want to make it easier for more competition in the same town. But I was just looking for broad based answers to how difficult it is to get my FFL. I am not going to be a "gun dealer". I am studying to become a gun engraver. So most of my business will be simply working on other folks guns. But I'm sure that I'll also be buying some guns and engraving them and selling them.
All I did was to call the ATF and they were extremely helpful (I must have gotten lucky in who answered the call). They gave me step by step instructions and all the forms that I needed. They even went over the "interview" process with me. But I digress.
Thank you for posting this video and taking the time away from your business (and game play😉) to make and post this info. Bravo, Sir.
Great video! Thank you for the info!!
Thank You brother for being honest and helping your fellow man!!! I agree everyone is trying to get people's money for nothing!!
Thank you, I enjoyed the video - good information that saved me $55.00
Thanks brother! Great info, Semper Fi!
Thos is a great informative and helpful video brother!
Thank you, this video was very informative. You make it seem so easy.
does the ffl include suppressors sbrs and full auto weapons if not what forms and fees would that be under?
I'm in. Thank you for your layman how to. When you say send 2 passport pictures is that a front and profile?
thanks for the info...ur doing a great job,,
Amazing video. It helped me realize all the steps of the process, but it also helped me realize that I love guns enough to want to get my FFL to enhance my future business. AND YOU PLAY FPS's ON PC TO!!!
Thank You very informative.
Well Spoken and great advice. Thank you sir.
Great video! Love your channel.
It's now 2014 a little over 3 years since your original video posted; do you know if there has been any changes to the process, cost or forms needed since the original video posted? If so What? If there has been changes, will you or have you made an update video? Thanks in advance
Thanks, I know your vid is 3 years old (2014 now) but still has a lot of good info.
good information thanks for taking the time
awesome video, liked and subscribed. First time I've seen anyone talk about the atf interview. The other thing I've seen now is you are supposed to notify city police chief or county sheriff before you apply. Do you know if thats just by letter, email, or in person?
Man you gave me alot of information about how to get my ffl I'm glad your in tulsa I'm out west of ya and really looking into getting my homebase ffl until I have funding to open a shop/store front
Thanks for the information.
This is a great Vid Thank You for you time and info
First off, thank you for a very informative video. Next, I understand that an FFL is needed to sell sporting arms. If I want to build for myself a fully automatic AR15, what license(s) will I need? And is this feasible for an average gun nut like me? Thx again
Thanks for sacrificing your game time to upload this video. Super helpful!
excellent video my friend. you just summed it all up in just a matter of a few minutes of my time. I really appreciate the knowledge and information. I just subscribed.
thanks for the vid, i was looking at getting an FFL to send and receive guns and make my collection bigger without bothering to go to a store, but like you said this is for a business so no point for me getting one. Thanks for the vid and honesty
Thank you Sir for the great info!!!!!!
Found this video in July 2020!!!!!
Good Informative video. Im going to Apply for mine. Thanks
Great video and information. Thank you. Thumbs up.
Thank you for a straight up video!
