There's a loop throwing stuff away in the trash bin that can get extra bits and pieces. After your household has generated some trash in the trash bin you can search it for bits and pieces which creates a trash pile that you can salvage for parts. After you salvage for parts you throw the remaining pile away and start again. Bits and pieces, salvage for parts, bits and pieces, salvage for parts until there is no trash left to take to the outside bin.

Literally yesterday I was trying to play with the fabricator and got so confused why it wasn't working and thought it was glitching out. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out the bits and pieces thing - it definitely needs to be clearer
The best way by far to get Stanley Rich: - Get 7 infants and the money trashcan - Sell all the infant/toddler waste - about 50 simoleons per bottle/diaper/etc. - Bonus tip: get a butler, a nanny and a maid to take care of the infants and house, and just let Stanley live his life.
I like the Fabricator. I also like the colors of the furniture. It is possible to make a modern house with black furniture. I built a white container house with a wooden outbuilding. Inside I have parts of a white container, wood, light green furniture, somewhere blue and yellow. A freelance career pays well, there is no point in using paints, they are not taken into account in the cost of the item. A single dining table costs 550 simoleons. 3/10 attempts were unsuccessful from skill level 1 to 3. I improved my skill and handiness skills (?) , after which I could give my Sim a task to do 5 things in a row, and I went to make tea, everything was fine. For variety, I installed a mod that allows you to create paint from plants. By the way, I haven't seen an upgrade installed in the Recycler. He can refund part of the money for recycled furniture, even if it was found in a dumpster.
Heylooo so I rarely ever comment on videos. But I wanted to say a few things so here I am! I think you are very funny and it makes me smile when you get all excited and passionate about things in your videos. Even when you get frustrated or embarrassed you manage to seem so jovial about it. I've seen you rage quit a few times (like with the Sims 3 house build glitch/crash) and idk it's just really refreshing to see someone be the way you are. Okay random compliment over. Nextly-er-ish, I'm glad your cat is okay. I was an only child (due to death of my sibling) so when my parents let me rescue a cat that needed help it really gave me such a boost in quality of life. She was like my sister and best friend. She was so smart and funny and just made life bearable when I felt super alone. She came into my life when I was around 6 and she lived for 21 years and they were really good years until the very very end. So I just want to make it known that probably lots of folks love their cat as much as you do, if they don't then maybe they don't need a cat. I would have lost it entirely had Bat-bat gotten cancer and I found out in front of a huge group. I don't do well with much attention anyway so I commend you for your strength and honesty. And I also wanted to reassure you that although contending with our furry family's mortality is hard, there could be many many wonderful years left for you and your cat. I had 21 and I feel like I was very lucky. But I've known cats others had that lived just as long and even longer! I bet she will live to be a very old granny cat with someone to love her like you do. Okaaaay now done with the sappy stuff! Lastly. I love your Stanley videos. They always make me laugh and I almost always learn something new from them. I had quit playing the Sims for quite a while but your videos made me re-download it and get back into the fun. I hadn't played since I think right before the pets dlc came out so it was like stepping into a new world! Anyway sorry for the long rambles, you probably won't even see it but just in case you did I wanted to pop in and say all these words at you 😅 I hope you keep posting when you want to and I hope your kitty breaks records for how long of a life they live! Sincerely, -the crazy cat woman (I have 7 atm and will likely end up rescuing more if I level up and can afford to feed more, haha) 26:1726:17
I think the greyed out options are the ones you don't have the skill yet to make and the blue ones are the one you are able to. And if you move your mouse over the fabricator it shows how many bits n pieces you have. But they should've made the pieces amount a different color. Like you have enough of this so its blue, but not enough of this so its red (for example)
The way the pee bush is looking, I am surprised the plant didn't die. Maybe you should try increasing his handiness and logic skill, that helps with fabrication. I would have gotten the woodworking table first and worked his way up to level 5, that way it would be a breeze. You are giving me some ideas with some of the windows that are in Eco Lifestyle. And maybe the person that Tina is married too is horrible, after all, there are two sides to every story.
I’ve been playing eco lifestyle this week too and I didn’t have any issues with the fabricator or recycler but I did notice some more expensive refrigerators couldn’t be repaired, but cheaper ones were fine so it wasn’t game breaking. I ended up keeping Snowy Escape fridge (800 simoleons).
Yay, Snappy❤ As we would say in Germany: Gute Besserung an den kleinen Schatz - wich translates to Get better soon, dear! Love to see her recover. Simsie you are being immensely brave! Sending you all lots of love!❤
In the James Turner Eco Lifestyle let's play, he had SO much trouble with the fabricator! He ended up having to supervise his Sim every time he used it and never speed up the time. Even as a viewer I got so frustrated with the device!
I had the same problem with the fabrication machine...it took me WAY longer to realize it didn’t work because I didn’t have enough bits and pieces so don’t feel bad 😂
wishing snap a fast recovery 🩷 my childhood dog has lymphoma and we decided to put her to sleep today. we’re all having a really hard time but when i saw her this morning i knew she was ready to go. today sucks, happy i could spend a little bit of it with you and snappy.
I never have gotten money from recycling, but I haven't tried since a few patches ago. My first thought was that the "voting for profit/modern development". I want to try it now tho. Also, there are some recipes you can only get from "enthusing about frabrication" wich includes the regular Sofa. There also a few locked behind the career from the pack. Edit. I also never dumpster dive. Since I play with families, I just get stuff from rewards in careers, or woodcrafted objects to recicle.
i always thought the recycling machine thingy gives you simoleons if the machine is placed on your own lot but i'm not so sure i don't really play with eco lifestyle to be honest
I ise eco lifestyle A LOT I love this pack ! I find that if you fabricate at the makers place, and ask one of the makers/recycling gurus to teach whilst you build, you get the focused moodlet and don't get swallowed up as much... Also you need almost as much compostable items as bits as pieces, so recycle fish, dirty plates, anything really...
i actually just got eco lifestyle a bit ago and have been using the fabrication machine a lot! it fits into my real life vibes a bit so i really like it, but it's def buggy, along with the recycler. i have a bug where i can recycle the same things over and over again and get unlimited bits lol.
I agree, it’s totally not your fault that you didn’t know you didn’t have enough bits and pieces to fabricate those items. It SHOULD have been greyed out. Hiding the “not enough bits and pieces” note in the tooltip without also greying it out is bad UI design.
Thank you simsie for helping me get through my sickness!! I’ve been watching a lot of your UA-cam videos, with Stanley, and its kept me very entertained and happy!
I have this family with a freelancer and I put him mostly to fabricate things but it doesn't make much money, as lilsimsie showed. Spends a lot of time for little
I hate that the option isn't greyed out when you can't fabricate something because you don't have bits and pieces. Same thing happens when you go to do something on the woodworking table and you don't have enough money to make something. As far as I know it's always been like that which is really annoying.
I have done SO little fabricating in the sims but I do have a stage of my legacy that will have to do Eco Lifestyle stuff so I’m gonna have to do it. I have been gifted randomly the hydroponic planter or whatever it’s called and it’s so nice and fabricating (and whatever the career is that goes with it) is the only way to get it normally and that same stage of the legacy also has to do a lot of gardening, so I’m excited for them to learn to make it so they can have the COOL planters in their garden. 😂
(This legacy is super fun, I found it on Pinterest and it’s an occult legacy where the stage I’m talking about in that comment has to be a plant sim 😂)
I literally just searched for the newest video I could find on UA-cam (since I work when you stream on twitch) just so I can see how Snappy is. Sending love, prayers, and good vibes Snappy’s way. She’s so adorable in her flower cone❤🙏 🌸
I just did the fabrication and candle making for the first time for my Super Sim challenge. I did get money when recycling, I never fell in, and this skill is actually so boring lol They just stand there and do nothing because there isn’t much animation. I did learn though that if you have appeased gnomes (I have 3) from Harvestfest in your inventory then you can recycle the seed packets along with the burnt furniture and that will give you LOTS of bits and pieces.
If you need to protect important or expensive outdoor objects from lightning strikes and want to limit your tiles for a particular tiny home tier, you could make a room, add a roof, delete the room, and then add columns to the roof, or just put a roof on top of an existing structure if there is one and extend it over anything you want to protect, adding columns to taste. :) You could also substitute columns for walls or fencing as long as there's a gap, like for a doorless doorway. I've done this a lot with gardening because of Seasons' out of season plants.
I was playing with the fabricator pretty recently, trying to do the aspiration and everything. I found that looking for recyclables in the dumpster works a lot better for getting more bits and pieces but it doesn't give you any money. So I guess it really depends on what kind of gameplay you're looking for. I'm a huge achievement kinda person so I really just try to do as many aspirations as possible so I can have the Ultimate Sim. At least in one of my save files.
I played through Eco Lifestyle in both the Rainbow Legacy and Sims in Bloom Legacy, and I had a lot of fun with both of them. It was awesome seeing the area develop, but I wish there was a maker career that was rabbithole.....I don't want to control my sims all the time. :)
I have done this myself and the only ways I found to make it really work well is for a Sim to have the Freegan trait, get them to sort recyclables and electronic etc and then use the recycling machine and use those. Plants give you a lot of the 'pieces' and also a quicker way to make money is by making a lot of the Voodoo dolls - they are very quick to make and don't need a high level and sell for 500 each - but in around 6 mins your Sim could make between 15-25 so it does add up
In your "Not so berry"-game, you should add the "reduce and recycle" lot trait, and get rid of the money trash can. I found that made it much faster to get bits and pieces.
I haven’t used this skill in so long, I should really try again. I got pretty far but then my computer crashed and I never went back to that save. Eventually I deleted it bc I didn’t use it
Recycle at home to get money. "Maybe I like Tina" made me almost fall from my chair. Fabrication aspiration is basicly useless, as it is not supported by wants.
This happened to me for days then I realised it’s cus my sim didn’t have enough bits and peices. Wouldn’t tell me that tho the game would just not do the action and cancel it haha
Love to Snap. I use fabrication a whole lot. It’s been glitchy lately. I enjoy the career a lot. They are my favourite townies from that pack. I really love how simple the build/buy and CAS are from that pack.
I made a sim that set out to build a legacy with stuff he only made with his two hands and I ended up basically exclusively using the woodworking table because the fabrication skill is such a pain to use. Between the bits and pieces and the failures, it's brutal. I have never used it since then.

My pup and I are cuddled close hoping for Snap to have a comfy recovery! And we are hoping everything goes easy for you Kayla!
Do you want a sherlock holmes expansion pack with his most iconic outfits and all of the pipes he smokes as accessories?
Omg, Snap having a nap in her yellow flower cone is so scandalously cute! I can't handle it! I love her so much I could die! 😭💖
Stanley finally got a decent house after all the challenges she puts him trough.
I love the cat cam 😭
I have two landfills lots in two different worlds which helps make dumpster diving much easier. I furnished a huge house with everything i found and made $$$.
Where did you put your landfill? And did you put it up on the gallery? Very interested.
So i deleted one but i still have the one i use on Mt Komorebi is a 20x15 lot it’s in the gallery as a community lot its called Trash n Treasures and my user is TheYMR
Love that it’s ’the new fabrication skill’ when Eco Lifestyle has been out like 4 years now lol
It’s new because let’s be honest nobody really uses it 😭
I feel old knowing it’s been out for 4 years
i really appreciate how you always explain if there is a cat next to you that may scare someone! its really nice of you to do that! i hope your cat gets better :)
I use fabrication all of the time in my saves. It's so interesting how everyone plays differently
Petition to add the cat cam to every vid were snappy decides to chill with us ❤
You can survive on a meat wall and a fabricater. The fabrication can make meals lol I did a rags to riches. it's my favorite
It’s so weird how the fabricator lets you select things even when you don’t have the right materials, there’s no indication whatsoever
Flower snap is so cute! I hope the recovery is going well ❤ also love another Stanley video!!!!
Snap in the back 🌼
Literally yesterday I was trying to play with the fabricator and got so confused why it wasn't working and thought it was glitching out. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out the bits and pieces thing - it definitely needs to be clearer
The best way by far to get Stanley Rich:
- Get 7 infants and the money trashcan
- Sell all the infant/toddler waste - about 50 simoleons per bottle/diaper/etc.
- Bonus tip: get a butler, a nanny and a maid to take care of the infants and house, and just let Stanley live his life.
stanley is back! rejoice!
lol what? I didn’t know he was missing? Just saw him like 6days ago 😂
I enjoyed the cat cam greatly, snap is such a cute little goober!
Oh what's the mod?

Sincerely,
-the crazy cat woman (I have 7 atm and will likely end up rescuing more if I level up and can afford to feed more, haha) 26:17 26:17
I also want to try this out again, been too long!
Think I can say that this is my comfort series now ❤ also I LOVE the snap cam, I hope she is feelin better soon!!
I LOVE the cat cam! I hope Snap has a speedy recovery ❤
As somebody who has played with the fabricator frequently, I have also blamed the game being broken when I was out of bits LOL!
Yay, Snappy❤
As we would say in Germany: Gute Besserung an den kleinen Schatz - wich translates to Get better soon, dear!
Love to see her recover.
Simsie you are being immensely brave!
Sending you all lots of love!❤
In the James Turner Eco Lifestyle let's play, he had SO much trouble with the fabricator! He ended up having to supervise his Sim every time he used it and never speed up the time. Even as a viewer I got so frustrated with the device!
the cat cam is so cute 💖
I had the same problem with the fabrication machine...it took me WAY longer to realize it didn’t work because I didn’t have enough bits and pieces so don’t feel bad 😂
You always bring something unique to the table, can't get enough!
wishing snap a fast recovery 🩷 my childhood dog has lymphoma and we decided to put her to sleep today. we’re all having a really hard time but when i saw her this morning i knew she was ready to go. today sucks, happy i could spend a little bit of it with you and snappy.
i love snap sm and i'm glad the surgery went well!! love to you, kayla, dan and your cats!!
The cat cam is wonderful 🙏🙏 please do it every time snap is napping in there
i love using the fabrication skill to sell the stuff with the retail stores from get to work
in my legacy challenge im having each heir use a creative skill to sell stuff in the retail
that little flower cone is so much better than the "cone of shame" - how cuuuute!! Give 'em a few extra kisses from me
I always just unlock the eco lifestyle furniture from debug lol. There are tvs too
i actually just got eco lifestyle a bit ago and have been using the fabrication machine a lot! it fits into my real life vibes a bit so i really like it, but it's def buggy, along with the recycler. i have a bug where i can recycle the same things over and over again and get unlimited bits lol.
I agree, it’s totally not your fault that you didn’t know you didn’t have enough bits and pieces to fabricate those items. It SHOULD have been greyed out. Hiding the “not enough bits and pieces” note in the tooltip without also greying it out is bad UI design.
"do not be alarmed, its just a tiny cat' has to be my favorite phrase ever
Thank you simsie for helping me get through my sickness!! I’ve been watching a lot of your UA-cam videos, with Stanley, and its kept me very entertained and happy!
Snappy looks like a little sunflower in the background 🥹🥹🥹 I wish her and you all the best and hope she has a full recovery ❤️🩹
I have this family with a freelancer and I put him mostly to fabricate things but it doesn't make much money, as lilsimsie showed. Spends a lot of time for little
“Posted one minute ago” perfect timing I guess😂❤️
I hate that the option isn't greyed out when you can't fabricate something because you don't have bits and pieces. Same thing happens when you go to do something on the woodworking table and you don't have enough money to make something. As far as I know it's always been like that which is really annoying.
I'm sorry.... Was Kayla doing something at the beginning? All I could see was kitty toe beans!!!!! 😍🐾
the camera for Snap is genius like im gonna be rewatching this video 5 times a week
The way you say “Why?” At 12:11 is so cute 🥰
0:57 she had some visions 😭😭😭😭😭
I hope snap is feeling better, its so cute seeing her behind lilsimsie ❤
I played through Eco Lifestyle in both the Rainbow Legacy and Sims in Bloom Legacy, and I had a lot of fun with both of them. It was awesome seeing the area develop, but I wish there was a maker career that was rabbithole.....I don't want to control my sims all the time. :)
get well soon, Snappy! sending all the love
Snap looks so frickin cute in her sunflower soft cone 🌻
Glad to see Snap doing well. She is so cute and beautiful just sleeping like that ❤
When she said " We don't need a light we have a stove on fire." I lost it and still can't stop giggling lol 😂😂😂❤❤❤ loving your video simsie!
I have done this myself and the only ways I found to make it really work well is for a Sim to have the Freegan trait, get them to sort recyclables and electronic etc and then use the recycling machine and use those. Plants give you a lot of the 'pieces' and also a quicker way to make money is by making a lot of the Voodoo dolls - they are very quick to make and don't need a high level and sell for 500 each - but in around 6 mins your Sim could make between 15-25 so it does add up
not me bying the pack after watching the last rags to riches video (the one with the juice) and also dating Tina in my save ahaha
SNAP!!!! she blessed us with her presence! wishing her a fast recovery
In your "Not so berry"-game, you should add the "reduce and recycle" lot trait, and get rid of the money trash can. I found that made it much faster to get bits and pieces.
Hi Simsie! I would love to see u do the Tiny Town Challenge
Oh so that’s why I couldn’t use fabricator!!! I thought it was bugged
Came for the Stanley video, stayed for the Cat Cam
This happened to me for days then I realised it’s cus my sim didn’t have enough bits and peices. Wouldn’t tell me that tho the game would just not do the action and cancel it haha
Love to Snap. I use fabrication a whole lot. It’s been glitchy lately. I enjoy the career a lot. They are my favourite townies from that pack. I really love how simple the build/buy and CAS are from that pack.
I’m so glad your cat is feeling better. Here’s to her recovery!
Vlad seeing Stanley rolling around in the dumpster and then deciding maybe he doesn't want a taste of that took me out 😂
Snap looks so cute! 🌼 I hope her recovery goes smoothly 🤞🏼💛 wishing her the best ✨
Every time I see Stanley in the thumbnail, I know some shenanigans are about to occur! Also I hope Snap is feeling better! ❤
That’s were you need that lot trait were people to dump trash on your lot at well. Free stuff to recycle
I made a sim that set out to build a legacy with stuff he only made with his two hands and I ended up basically exclusively using the woodworking table because the fabrication skill is such a pain to use. Between the bits and pieces and the failures, it's brutal. I have never used it since then.
My cat got a pineapple soft pillow cone when she got spayed. For maximum shame.
