You meant burr when saying bevel, weren't u?

You should try switching from sanding blocks to a pane of glass, much flatter surface for sharpening

Where are you from, and do you watch ZNA Productions? You remind me a lot of Eli.

I made the same mistake of not getting to the burr stage with a 3 blade and went thru a stone, sandpaper, and leather and ended up with a dull edge. I use a giant fat tip black marker to coat the bevel before grinding. Grinding to a burr gets the broadhead READY for sharpening. Thanks for the tips and info.

Everything seems right except pressing hard when stropping on leather can dull the edge. Much better to go with light strokes and a lot of them.

not using lubricant clogs the stone up and eliminates the cutting action of the stone. Always use lubricant!
    good video though

Very good info. Thanks. I've always had trouble sharpening my broad heads. I'll try the method. Right now, I cheat. I use a regular two blade broadhead and a belt grinder with 400 grit sanding belt. I keep the arrow attached and grind a burr on the blade then polish off the burr on a leather strop.

It's open season here in MN but it's still summer here in MN Kramer. By the way, thanks for the rain cuz we were in drought mode all August & September.

In minnesota myself so yes we did indeed need some rain. Compound hunter here! The drought pushed them off their typical routes. They been rough locating but the hunts going! This rain gonna help! Happy hunting!

With oil stones you do want to use oil. With water stones you do want to use water (I also added a mixture of dawn and simple green if using water stones) I do mostly use oil stones. Also when you strop on leather you want to make slow, light, even passes. Also what I've learned is to go one direction, labeling the blades 1,2,3 for the sides. I push forward, then to knock the bur off I pull rearwards before rotating to the right

Just creating a bur and straightening it is holy schniekey sharp enough for me.

Genuine question. I read a study from some American (doctor?) from the 60's, that made a comparison chart from the kill efficiency of various types of hunting points. What he found was that the simple two blade broadhead, twice as long as it is wide, was the most effective. Does anyone know more about this? Are there other advantages to other types of hunting arrow types?

You’re talking about Dr Ed Ashby. It’s a 3:1 single bevel broadhead that produces the best penetration.

@@kramerammonsarchery Stingers work great and they have a lifetime warranty. If you smack a rock with one, send Mike Sohm a picture of it, and he'll send you a new one. Best customer service out there! I've used Stingers, Black Hornet Ser Razors, and original Snuffers. They all work great. For low poundage bows, I agree with you on the Stingers though.
