I've been a huge fan of Paul Simon since I was a kid in the 60's, and started playing his songs first on piano, then on guitar. I had this game when I was a kid, and was probably just as addicted as he was (and was also convinced that NO ONE could do this better than I could!). I can't describe how wonderful it was to see this, and to realize just how competitive he was. I'll never be the musician he is, but maybe - just maybe- I could compete with him in Labyrinth!
The game is called Labyrinth (or Labyrintspel in Swedish, where the game originated). I was also quite hooked on the game, and like Simon timed my runs with a stopwatch. Since it was common for the ball to go into one of the holes prior to completing the course, we (my brother and I) kept records for each hole. I believe my round-trip PR was 39 seconds, so hats-off to Paul Simon with his 38!
When Paul said he was good at the maze game I thought he was Fakin’ It and that marble would soon be Slip Slidn’ Away but with a few skillful manipulations it was Homeward Bound.
Back in 1968 I ran through this game thirteen times in a row before the ball fell in. You get to know where every dirt speck and every paint flaw is on the board so you know how to roll the ball using the flaws to your advantage. I never did it in reverse though.
This was the first time that I heard the word shit said on national television. On the original broadcast it was easy to hear, but on this print it's difficult to make out. It happens just before Simon completes the maze. Simon says shit, and Cavett shrieks hah.
Haha, this is really cool because I can remember when my oldest brother got a Labyrinth game back in the early 1970's and it was really hard to do. Paul made this look very easy.
OMG I used to play this game for hours and hours. This is what we had before video games - just some wood, a few rods and screws, a metal ball, and gravity lol
Oh, how I wish to join playing with him in that Moment😅❤playing shows up the child in us all❤❤❤❤❤I had this game to, when I was a kid❤❤❤and now I am addicted to,,snake,,😂since 2002🎉
I found a link to this in my notes app. I apparently added it September 11th 2019. I don’t remember ever watching this or adding this note. Should I be concerned?
have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney?

Paul Simon rocks!
I guess we finally know what he was doing with Julio down by the schoolyard.
Just watched the interview from two years earlier and Paul is so much more outgoing here - in a good way!

This is typical Paul, what he's doing, he's doing more than 100%..great...
Fact: I completed the maze in two seconds. One move is all it took.
And 40 years later they do this on Survivor.
MY BROTHER GOT THIS GAME FOR XMAS BACK IN THE 1960's........( wonder where it is today? )

How about any of the Honeymooners actors that were a part of the main cast?

If this was Fallon he would have brought out Michelle Obama and Jennifer Lopez to play with him
Fred Astaire talk about gene Kelly
His coordination has to deal with him, playing a guitar for years. it’s all about your hands and eyes.
