Great review! Fun fact! This was originally supposed to be published in the 90s under legends of the dark knight. Viewed through this lens, the book’s craziness makes much more sense. The art is absolutely haunting as well. It really makes me want a horror book featuring Batman.

Mad this popped up on my feed, not into comic books that much but I've known Garth Ennis since I was a kid here in Northern Ireland, he is a clever bloke, spoke to him a few years ago before a good friend of his, and ours, Steve passed away, I'm a few years younger than Garth, he actually hates Superheros but he has a soft spot for Batman and Punisher, always did, Superman as well although he'd deny that he loved Supes, anyway, great review, going to read it tonight, Garth sent a special edition to me a good while back of this book so I'll take it as a sign so I'll read it tonight, all the best from Northern Ireland 🇮🇪🤝🇬🇧🤝🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦🤝🇦🇺🤝🇭🇺🤝🇮🇩🤝🇯🇵🤝🇵🇹🤝🇹🇩🤝🇧🇷🤝🇩🇪🤝🇫🇮

@@OmnidogsVault ah mate, such kind words, much love back from Ireland brother, I wrote i wasn't into comics much but I've been reading them the last few months, just bought the Thor JMS/Gillen omni, waiting on Death Metal omnibus to start my Dark Metal omni so I have a continuing story, cannot stand cliffhangers where I have to wait a month 😂, I will ask Garth to put a comment up here too, he might send you some goodies mate, he's sound like that, he seems a bit burnt out with all the poltical nonsense in them atm, I don't know but he's tired of whatever it is in the industry atm and he said there will be a crash, he thinks DC and Marvel comics might end up just releasing the big guns and what a shame that would be, he adored Vertigo and we got Preacher and more, he has to say he likes the TV show and he does in parts but again think it's politics again just a different part of another industry, he has his magnum opus, I think that's what he calls it, he has had it, the idea, since he was 20 odd, he's been writing and rewriting it and it will be his last series, a true sci-fi opera from what I know and I know I've already written too much so will leave it there, you now have a fan from the Emerald Isle and much love to you and my fellow fans the world over, we need a wee bit of peace and love these dark days, hope you and your loved ones are all grand, all the best brother 🙏
Garth Ennis writing Batman had to be something special and damn did he deliver. I really liked ´sassy ´ Batman and Liam Sharp´s painted art style is perfect for it. I was really looking forward to this review but I was sure it was going to be something that you would like.

I really enjoyed this review, it's exactly what I needed. I had nuked it from my shopping cart because of some bad reviews but your points about batman's voice, the exhibition of the art and the banter had me back on board halfway through the vid. it's right up my alley ty!
I don't check other social media because I don't want it to influence my opinion so I was unaware of bad reviews! That said, I stand by my review lol. I really dug it.

Omnidog, read Batman: Killing Time by Tom King when you get the chance. It is 4/6 issues into the story and so far it is interesting.

Hey Jess, you hit the nail on the head with this review. It was definitely a trip.
On an unrelated note I did read Karmen. It was very good. I could see them making more issues of the series. I especially want to know more about the Bengal Lights Event that they mentioned. After I finished the book I gave it to my partner for her to try. And she has not emotionally recovered lmao first thing she did when she finished it was to lock herself in the bathroom to cry and then she asked me if we could go see her mom this weekend lmao it really hit home for her.

Glad to have found this channel! I'm a high school English teacher and started my own elective called Comic Book Literature. We'll be diving deep into comics and graphic novels. Plan on using Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics as our "textbook".
Hoping you could recommend some great graphic novels appropriate for high schoolers?
WOW! What a dream class you're teaching! I wish I could sit in on it! Do you want me to do a video on some or just recommend them right here? I'm sure you're already going to be reading "Maus" and things like that?
@@OmnidogsVault A video would be great but I appreciate any help and suggestions! My idea is to have several graphic novels that we would read together and discuss them as a class. I'm also putting together a list of graphic novels students would be able to pick from to read independently and then present something to the class. I'll have a wide range of students who have never picked up a comic before and then there are those who have a passion for it. A few graphic novels I plan on reading together are to start of with a few issues of Amulet by Kazu KibuIshi. It's a really easy read that will get the students who never read a comic before comfortable with it. Other graphic novels I have planned to read as a class and discuss are: I Kill Giants, Animal Castle, and yes, Maus. Thanks for responding and offering the help! The students age would be sophomores through seniors so about ages15-18.
