1. Daredevil by Waid. Got me through a tough time in my life when I was depressed. Seeing how Matt was trying to get his life back together was hugely inspiring.
2.All Star Superman. Beautiful, touching, action packed just a ride of emotions. One of the only absolutes I own.
3. Batman the black mirror. What bought me back to comics.
4. The killing joke. One of the best Batman stories ever told and my first ever comic book.
Amazing story to hear about Daredevil!
You've got me wanting to read all of Waid's Daredevil now. Only read a bit of it. Always meant to read All Star Superman, so I think I'll give it a good soon. I have similar memories about Black Mirror, it reinvigorated my excitement in Batman comics, having lapsed years before

Loved your list Jess! Especially loved the story about how you got your Bruce Timm book from Mike and lifting others up. Beautiful. This got me thinking about the 5 most important comics to me so I'll list them to anyone who cares to read them. Nothing life changing here but these were the books that really kept me hooked me on comics.
5. Thor 337 - Simonson's first issue of his epic run, the first comic that left me truly shocked & speechless!
4. Punisher 1 - by Ennis, the start of Welcome Back Frank, shows what a back to basics approach can do, ignored the bad runs that preceded it and just told the best Frank story he could!
3. Hulk 347 - Start of Joe Fixit storyline, before this it was always shown how Hulk ruined Banner's life, now shown how much better Hulk's life would be without Banner!
2. Amazing Spider-man 229 & 230 - Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut! - My favorite comic story ever, my intro to Juggernaut and to me, is the quintessential Spidey story, showing fortitude & bravery against insurmountable odds!
1. Captain America 210 - The first comic that I can remember getting. Colorful story, science fiction at it's ludicrous best, and leaving me in suspense for what would happen next. Without this comic, I'd have so much more money in my pocket! :)

My favourite comic is Batman by Adams omnibus because as I was reading it I was wondering how this was considered so great when it looked so wonky.
Went on UA-cam and found some funny fellas videos and that changed my life for the better.

Great video Jess. Dark Knight Returns is also a big game changer for me also it took comics to a different level I also have the same addition that you have with that great cover of FM Batman standing arms crossed with an arched window in the background. Unfortunately in the Absolute Dark Knight Returns it doesn’t have the same art reprinted anywhere in its extras section also the main original covers were reprinted on one page when they should have done a page for each. Add to that they stuffed it with The Dark Knight Strikes Back unfortunately 😅. I prefer the addition we’ve both got which reprinted Batman Year One , a short Christmas story and then the main Dark Knight Returns. I returned my Absolute Dark Knight as it had damage issues and didn’t buy it back because it was disappointing however I will get Dark Knight Master Race Absolute

Great video, not only great books but great justifications and awesome stories behind each book.
My books:
1. Watchmen: Not only a great story but it was the first book I've picked 16 hours after I've arrived to the States.
2. The life and times of Scrooge McDuck: Read those in translated, bits and pieces in home country when I was a kid. It was in my bucket list to get the collection after I moved here.
3. Justice League by Geoff Johns (Darkseid wars): Geoff Johns with Jason Fabok on Art. Hell YEAH!
4. House of X/Powers of X: One of the greatest comics ever, I've re-read this book multiple times and each time I discover more details as I do.
5. Asterix and Celoparta: Claimed by Uderzo and Goscinny that this is the greatest story ever drawn, and it is. The amount of details are spectacular. The comedy is very good and the story itself is very well constructed.

Great video! I recently bought a first print of the TPB of Dark Knight Returns. I read it years ago in a much later printing, but I've always just wanted to get an original copy of it to read. I dunno, somehow that makes me feel like I am getting closer to what it must have felt like to read it when it came out. What a time that must have been to be reading comics as they came out

Cool picks!! I started reading comics at the start of this year so a couple months now! specifically DC. My top five so far are, Harleen by Stjepan Šejić, Poison ivy by G. Willow Wilson, DC bombshells, The batgirl adventures #1 paul dini and Mad Love! :p comics are so funnn!!
My top five: Asterix (Goscinny/Uderzo), Prince Valiant (Hal Foster), The black order brigade (Christin/Bilal), Watchmen and of course The Sandman.
What about Tintin?
