I do something similar when designing. It allows me to see the space I have to work with and better determine what will work.

Good tutorial. So many people freeze on this because "I can't draw".
Really helpful and clear. Do you still sketch on paper/trace or mainly use do this development layering on screen (XP-Pen tablet)?
Yes we sketch with paper all the time especially early in the design process. It is faster and more fluid so helps us get our ideas out more effectively. The XP tablet is great for a mix but is more for refined final graphics in our applications.
@@EricArneson Many thanks, very useful to know..I've just moved my PC and no longer have my big whiteboard next to me, so squiggling on a notepad even though I have a tablet and Microsoft whiteboard, just something different about putting pen/pencil to paper

Hi Eric - do you use a digital program like CAD to layout the site perimeters before you start bubble mapping? I am new to the field. I have been laying the site boundaries by hand first. Then going back with trace paper.
I'm really interested in landscape architecture, but my physics and math are not that good. I do want to prepare for it, are there any particular topics or concepts that are useful for landscape architecture?

Help! My husband started and has been working on a waterfall / pond and outdoor kitchen; he did this without a plan and without my input. My husband has no real understanding of design- (it was done when I was working out of town)-How can I salvage this project without starting from scratch- any suggestions would be appreciated ! Can you bring in a professional at this point? That’s probably the best thing to do. You didn’t say how much has been done so far so it’s impossible to answer your question. Possibly see about visiting a Design/ Build landscaping company and see if you can purchase just a design from them. Good Luck! 😊

This is just showing conceptual design. A true design requires precedent study, engineering, grading and drainage, sustainable practices, city code, construction documents and much more thought.
