I beat the cat chase in about 6 more attempts than it took Day9. I think I also beat it in less time.
Sean not using the top in the room where he got it pains me.
And the singing fish. If there’s one play through I’ve watched so far where I’m convinced the player hasn’t looked up any hints or walkthroughs, it’s this entertaining, lovely, but often unobservant chap.
EDIT: just got to the bit where he sees the torus and points out the map is one. He’s clearly not a dumbass. Maybe it’s just the pressure of being watched on stream that’s making him miss a few things and ignore accessible but still unexplored areas.
@@EeekiEno, it's not the pressure... this is actually how most people play. We miss things. A lot.
@@EeekiE I think most blind people miss the fish for a while tbh, if they ever get it before being told there's a warp song. Environmental songs aren't really a mandatory thing before layer 3 except for getting the UV light. If you're truly blind you don't even know they're something to look for.

It speaks for this game when someone stumbles through this game, ignoring about 90% of all the things the game is trying to teach him, therefore not learning many of the games mechanics and QoL improvements, doing almost every puzzle in the most laborious way imaginable and still calling it a fantastic game.
Right? He managed all this without even figuring out regular-wand bubble stacking!
Oh baby, can't wait till he get's the icebreaker in this one.

Even after going back and getting the no deaths reward and one of the speedrun figures.

@@kamikeserpentail3778 in a reddit AMA Billy confirmed the regular glass cannot be broken. There are also things still undiscovered, though. Including things data-miners have found but don’t know how to get to legitimately yet.

Billy Basso did an AMA on Reddit recently and confirmed the giant ghost that chases you is in fact a dog :)
Pretty much as soon as i got the animal flute i learned a certain song.
I remember saying to my friend "god navigation in this game would suck without that song."
When Sean grabbed the mock disc and didn't immediately play the song i knew he's never going to learn it is he? Lol
I love how literally every upgrade in the game is something a little kid would play with.
Like when I saw the fish jumping up and down.. Could have seen it for a hundred years and not figuired out it was supposed to say something..
@@tsalbeciDid you at least let it play its routine all the way through? This guy looked at it for a second then ran off. Then came back later and watched it do half a routine then jumped away to reset it. I don’t think it’s about “getting” its message which is visually and audibly pretty clear, but knowing it’s something to even pay attention to. And as it’s a unique asset in the game it doesn’t make sense to me to just ignore it as it’s getting started and assuming it’s nothing but decoration.
It would have been a nightmare playing this game without learning from this fish.
@@EeekiE I found like 10/16 bunnies on my own (so Im not dumb) and had no idea the fish was playing a song until around the time I beat the eel. It's really not that obvious before you know environmental songs are a thing.

yeah... you can just picture the developer designing the area assuming that 99.99% of players would just instantly use the new item provided ^^
I really hope he streams the rest of this. Day9 + Animal Well is the ultimate combo
I know this is a contentious "puzzle" for some people, but I think the dog chase is probably one of my top three favourite moments in the game. I think a lot of people do it last because getting to realising what you gotta do is so out of the norm for what the game has been throwing at you.
The fact that Day9 doesn't figure out the flute teleport puzzle astounds me 😅
My favorite part was watching it slowly dawn on him on what he had to do with the Mock Disk

But I also thought it was a cat.
there's so many context clues that tell you it's a dog: The panting in the background, it chases you because you picked up the disc, it wags its tail, the iconography of the area it's in, the statue you take the mock disk from and the dogs that are a part of the mock disk shrine.
They're just too many to ignore.
The Top reaction is so validating. It was hours until I found out it had a use outside of hitting buttons or switches.
Every "Top Secret" pissed me off.

Did he explain that he knows that the game map is a torus and then gets surprised mere seconds later when the bottom of the map connects to the top of the map, or did I just imagine that.
Other way around. he was suprised by the map then pointed out it's a torus later.
He already knew the map wrapped around, he was exclaiming because he missed the secret side entrance in the chimney that’s on the map.

How in the hell did you manage to find seahorsie before the cat/dog?! I've gone through the whole dungeon 50 times and I still cant figure out where the seahorsie is.

If you mean the bubble trick that gets obsolete after you get the upgraded bubble wand, then no.
Also he doesn't figure out what the flute can do and he was sooo close to getting it...
@@dread46pretty much obsolete - you can travel much faster and, with the right timing, gain much more height per jump if you continue to use the trick.

I don't know how anyone can see the ghost dog as a cat. Cats don't have their tongues hanging out like that! The only catlike thing about it I think is the smooth, slippery movement. That's not very doglike at all, but then again it is a ghost.
Glass is NOT breakable, its been confirmed. plz go back to top room by the eggs. and try singing the fish song, or scaring the kangaroo ;p

How so? It just states that there is some kind of ng+ in the way that you can explore even after 'finishing' the game. Which imho is quite obvious when you know from the get go that there are, at least, many hidden eggs everywhere in this game about puzzles and discoveries
