The buko salad is the one that your Filipino auntie casually eats at the family reunion while she asks you awkward questions like "When are you getting married?" or "Why are you still single?"

These kind of people need to learn some manner and some logic. Really..
asking someone's marriage or career is soooo RUDE. IMPOLITE.
Plus, logically, marriage is not that important. And YOU NEED TO READY BEFORE U MARRY SOMEONE. Dont u just marry in your 20s or even in your teenage time just because you can.
Some ppl marry in their 30s.
Yes, marriage is important. But not that important. i mean like.. YOU NEED TO MARRY. But it's up to you when to marry. simple logic.
Southeast Asians need to learn about manner n logic. smh

Oh nice a swiss dish! But as a Swiss I need to clarify some things: Switzerland ist small, yes. But still, there big cultural differences between the language areas in Switzerland. So the shown Wurst-Salad actually is mostly fancied by the swissgermans. The french, italian und romansch part have their own dishes and favorised salads.
For me as a person with roots in Ticino (italian part of Switzerland) I can tell you this about salads: Back in the days they where not that much cummon there. But my grandmother still made one we really enjoyed: red beans, parsley, cellery stalk, tuna (can) and a balsamico vinegar dressing. The ticinesian dishes are to north italian kitchen and are not that much similar to the swissgerman food culture. Same counts for the other language parts in Switzerland. ;)

We've noticed so many similarities when cooking! Particularly soups and stews. We're friends to another mixed nationalities couple (he's from Peru and she's from Ukraine). Hi Beryl! :) I really loved this series (all in all: your effort for these dishes delights my day!)
As a Swiss citizen I was a little sad about the Bavarian sausage. I'm aware that you can't buy cervelat (which is the Swiss sausage you need for a Wurstsalat) in the US, but in fact, this sausage really is the most important ingredient of the salad. For the next time, maybe a lyoner wurst will make it taste more like cervelat. I just wish I could have sent you one, so you could taste the real Wurstsalat (because It will be soooo different from the one you made).
Thanks for your amazing videos, I love them and will for sure keep watching them :)

It looked a lot like "Weißwurst" which I hope it wasn't. Even though it is a South German, Swiss and Austrian thing I have never ever seen anyone use that kind of sausage anywhere I've been. Where I am from most people use Lyoner or maybe Frankfurter. But never anything like what she used...

    Hey Beryl, hey everyone,
Here in France we often have a "salade chèvre miel" (ie honey goat salad). It's a sweet and salty salad.
Basically, you take lamb's lettuce leaves and you mix it with nuts and raisins (almond and other dried fruits may also be used). Some families add chopped onions.
For the dressing, mix 1 or 2 table spoons of honey, 1 table spoon of oil, 1 table spoon of vinegar and 1 table spoon of balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.
Put a few slices of goat cheese on a piece of bread and put it in the oven/microwave of 5-10minutes.
Take the salade, pur de dressing, add the hot piece of bread, a bit of extra honey and envoy.
Hope some of you may try this recipe !

In Spain we also have (little) Russian salad, ensaladilla rusa hahah it's kind of similar but not quite.. it's mayo, carrots, pees, potatoe, hard boiled egg and sometimes tuna... I think I'm realizing why it's called Russian salad lol 😂

Hi. I'm Beryl and I'm a filipino. Other filipino party/fiesta salads would be buko pandan and the generic ones like chicken macaroni and chicken potato salads. But for ordinary days we make different savory and/or sour ensaladas and eat them as side dishes with our staple rice and protein meals. Depending on the region and the availability of the main ingredients we have various salads using seaweed, green mango, jackfruit, eggplant, green papaya, bitter melon, radish, salted egg, okra, etc.

you can legit get wurst salat everywhere in Switzerland! It's a staple! But make sure you specify 'wurst käse salat' (sausage and cheese salad) otherwise you'll only get the sausage and no cheese ://

Edit: I watched anyway😅. Yes, a super popular Swiss salad👍 But it's not made with bratwurst! The wurst is cervelat. Closer (but not identical) to a thick (and fairly high quality) Vienna sausage. Anyhow, so glad you liked it!

I had exactly the same reaction: Love your show! -- Yay, something from Switzerland! -- Wait, that's not cervelat, that's bratwurst... -- I mean, I guess you could put bratwurst in a salad, but it's really bland compared to cervelat, which is why bratwurst would normally be served grilled with mustard or onion sauce...
I totally understand, though -- cervelat is nearly impossible to find outside of Switzerland. Maybe I'll pick some up myself and try this salad recipe! :D

In Sweden we have a salad similar to the Filipino dessert salad. It’s a mayonnaise fruit salad called “Mimosa salad”. It contains mustard and we eat it as a side dish, typically to cold meat at Christmas. Quite strange!

This episode reminds me of my first time in the USA a looong time ago. I am from the Philippines so Of course at that time I had no idea. When I was asked if I wanted some salad along with my Spaghetti, I was excited and said Yes right away. To my dismay, I was served with the Greens. Hehehehe... Because the salad I thought was the same sweet salad in the Philippines served as a dessert. Duuuhhhh!!!!! Hehehehe... But I didn't say anything and ate it anyway. Same goes with macaroni salad because ours is sweet and a dessert, but not the macaroni salad as a side dish in the US. Hahahahaha....
