Food from The Good Place (and, well, everything else from The Good Place) reads like a fever dream: giant shrimp terrorizing the neighborhood, fountains of clam chowder, frozen yogurt in every conceivable flavor. Today, we're seeing if we can make some of these bizarre concoctions palatable - and throwing in some jalapeño poppers for good measure.

Blood tastes okay, but I can't have more than a few spoonfuls till I'm sick of it. In order to explain myself as not being a psycho, there's a Polish dish of duck blood soup. It often contains raisins, which just reconstitute into blood grapes.
So it's edible, but I can't speak TOO highly of it.
In Portugal, we have several dishes with blood (chicken, rabbit or pork). I personally like to let the chicken blood coagulate, cut it in pieces and simmer it. It's actually very tasty because it doesn't taste like blood after being cooked. This is not a common way of cooking it, but my mother used to do it when we killed chickens. I never had pork blood or uncooked blood but I guess it has a much stronger flavour.

Well the thing is I just make some froyo for the Avengers episode a couple weeks ago - and to really do froyo the way they have it in the show, you really need a commercial soft serve machine. I'm still researching on how to best approximate that at home - so don't worry, there's always room for a Good Place Part 2!

I love how chocolate is seen as bad in chili, when it actiually give it a very full bodied flavor when actiually melted into the chili
Yeah he could have made a molé. Unfortunately that candy is too sticky and sugary rather than chocolatey.

@@babishculinaryuniverse Try champorado the traditional way we have it -- with fried sun-dried fish, the saltier the better. Weird combo, but it plays on the classic salty plus sweet flavor combination.

@@DeathByLego it's delicious. Fill your hollowed jalapeno peppers with a 50/50 mix of shredded cheddar and cream cheese, and wrap the whole thing in bacon, using a toothpick to secure. Grill or bake to golden-brown deliciousness. Remove toothpicks before consuming.

@@purplepepper2503 My guess is that dark chocolate is the best substitute for tsokolate tablea that's accessible in the US. That, and he's always suggested coffee powder for accentuating the chocolate taste in desserts.

The one problem here is you cut the poppers in half when taking off the cap and hollowing out the jalapeño is superior structurally and allows more cheese into the popper and the cap can be put back and fried like these or one can use any number of edible adhesives homemade or otherwise

Stove top rice pudding is so very, very different than the rice pudding I grew up with. Rice/sugar/milk/raisins/nutmeg/cinnamon baked in the oven for several hours. No eggs. Develops a leathery skin on top. Served hot with milk.

I find gastronomy history so interesting, the rice pudding really caught my attention because in Brazil we have a similar recipe called "Arroz Doce" where we basically cook the rice with peanuts, some spices like cinnamon and carnation and a thing called "Rapadura" that's is a unrefined block of sugar cane

The Good Place if one of my all time favorite shows if not my favorite show and when I saw the thumbnail I was excited. Chidi losing his mind and making that was the best thing ever.

Fun fact: None of the shrimp that Eleanor eats are real shrimp! They’re made of tofu because Kristen Bell is a vegetarian. (Also all of the frozen yogurt is actually mashed potatoes, because real fro-yo would melt)
Some of the shrimp were also rubber to make up the number they needed and occasionally Kristin would accidentally grab and bite one of these
