I promise everyone is too worried about themselves to think about what you're doing. You could also try going to a quiet cafe or just having cake at a weird hour. I've done this a lot now (100+!) - once the waitress asked what I was doing (and then said it was cool), once a little kid asked if she could look and she watched me drawing boring pictures for 20 minutes (her mom was really happy), once the owner of the cafe had a conversation with us the whole time because he loved it so much (though we were also filming! which I'm very shy about), and once I overheard the man at the table next to me tell his partner that he feels sorry for me at a cafe alone (then he played on his cellphone the entire time he was there and ignored his partner). So that's only 4 interations the entire time I've done this. Give it a go. Less than 4% chance someone else will care. And if they do, then who cares anyway :) your journaling and creating is just for you.
