Okay. You convinced me. I was going to get a Sterling Ink B6 as a writing journal to help keep me focused on writing goals in 2025 (the goals section seemed apt). But after seeing your side by side with Papertess, I went for it. I put it in my cart about 15 minutes into your video and when i saw the price, gasped (planner plus 16,50 euro for shipping -- total was $72 USD) thought "Mmm, maybe not," but by the end of your video, I hit checkout. So now it's on the way. LOL. Thank you so much for this. It really helped me figure out exactly what I want and need, and encouraged me to buy what I am most likely to use best.
Aw, I'm so glad I could help. This was what I was looking for when I was making my decision but couldn't find anyone comparing so I ordered both and filmed it. It helped me figure it out too :') I love how we planner people know exactly what we're looking for. I had a Take a Note planner this year, but honestly missed my PTD. Ordered an A5 and the B5 for 2025. I know there is definitely overconsumption in the planner space but the amounts we spend make sense for something we use every single day and helps us document and plan this gorgeous life we have. I'm excited for you! Good luck with the wait, and enjoy filling her up
I totally get it. Thank you so much for sharing this video!!! You explained how daunting the back pages are -- and I totally agree! I do like the quarterly breakdown of the Sterling Ink planners. That's why this is so hard!
Thank you for the video! These have been my thoughts as well - I loved my Common Planner in 2023, but flipping back and forth between monthlies, weeklies, and dailies is tiring (even though I didn't really use my monthlies as monthlies, but still). I have already preordered Sterling Ink, but keep looking at Papertess because I want all the weeks and days together. I am not the fan of horizontal weekly spreads at all, but I figured because Paperless has blank pages in-between weeks, I could use the dated tape to create vertical layouts in-between horizontal and use both. Now I have no idea what to do haha
My plan for this new year is to start journaling and such stuff. I'm so excited to just write things down my goals my plans my thoughts that kind of jazz. I've been binge watching your videos and I think I have an idea of where to begin
Great review!!! I didn’t even know about the Paper Tess planner until recently or would have probably grabbed one (maybe not for €100 though!🤣😂). Thanks for showing all the different details!
I too have both planners (and so, so many others, I’m having massive Planner Peace dilemmas this year for some reason). Same colors, too! I gave up trying to decide and I’m going to use both. Sterling Ink for pretty planning with lots of deco and more memory planning in the months and weeks, and the free pages I’m using as “collections” like in a bullet journal. The PaperTessDesigns one makes much more sense for my brain, and I feel I’ll be better to actually plan in it.
Ooh we're planner twins. Although it sounds like most people are planner twins with you this year? Hehe. I've been really enjoying actively planning in my Papertess. Good idea to use the free pages in your SI for collections, that sounds lovely and low pressure.
Yes can totally understand spending a lot of money on unused planners. Just impulse bought the B6 and Weeks from Papertess even though i have all the hobonichis. Let sigh... very excited
I just ordered the sterling ink notebook with the idea of drawing my own layouts because i love the style of the notebook, but love hobonichi weeks... i just can't justify paying shipping for tess... but will take many of the layout ideas from what you have shared. Thank you so much!
They're both beautiful, but I do understand why you prefer Papertess Yearly Notebook and not the Sterling Ink Planner. I would prefer it too. I hope you'll fill it with lots of amazing and creative projects planning, like only you know! Are you still using the Hobonici ?
I ordered my first Papertess exactly because, like you and our brain, I need months/weeks/days need to be grouped :). I live in the UK, so ordering from her made more sense than Aura Estelle (which was my nb 1) or Common Planner, plus risking shipping delays. I like slowly planning for the next year starting in Novembers....but I know as a 3-hour-a-day commuter, I won't enjoy the thickness of carrying a whole year. I prefer the 2 x 6 months. How have you enjoyed both planners so far?
im waiting on my a6 yearly from papertess... wondering if I shouldve gone with b6. my plan is to use it as a planner and daily journal/ brain dump... I used to journal in my 5 year but now I think im gonnause them for my childrens memory keepers.. maybe! lol
This video is so helpful! I'm late to the party on Papertess designs so I didn't get one, but I did get the Sterling Ink B6 during the initial order period. Something I struggle with some of the newer Hobonichi alternatives (Aura Estelle, Sterling Ink) is how light the grids themselves and the border lines are, and/or how tiny and light the fonts are for days of week/dates/timeline numbers. (I otherwise love-and prefer-all the fresh ideas and designs!) It also just looks kind of dreary and flat to have everything more or less in the same shade of light gray. I need more contrast (Though I do NOT need added color. Just darker defining accents.) I actually like the darkness and size of the grids/borders/text of the Cousin and am wondering if I just have to go back to it, despite the other things I'm not fond of? But from your video, it definitely looks like Papertess might be better in this regard! This will definitely be on my radar for next year, even with shipping to US!
You're putting pressure on yourself, you don't have to make it pretty. About the back pages make splash on it and it's not empty anymore. You could use coffee or tea.

My only problem with Sterling Ink is it's all so faint.
I'm going to try out Paper Tess Designs.. I like everything I see.
Do you know if Tess will be coming out with a 2024 planner?
I'm not sure, you'd have to ask her.
@@CayleeGrey I did ask her A while ago, but she never replied, that’s why I’m worried.
@@pbudinsky1 she insta back to me said they are launching hopefully autumn so fingers crossed will see some sneak peaks in the next while
Coming out 10/27
It goes on sale tomorrow!!
