    Wow Dave. That second picture of the mud wagon sent to you revealed some very important information to you about how your wagon was originally designed and built. What a find! That pictorial evidence dramatically changed your direction on the remaining mud wagon restoration work. The picture essentially put you back on the right path towards building an accurate representation of the original wagon. This was a fascinating video! As always, beautiful craftsmanship and outstanding detective work!

      Exactly! I think Dave was listening but when offered more information it became obvious where he made a mistake - and a man (or woman) who can front their mistakes / admit the error / able to learn from their mistake just makes them a better human than most.
      Me, personally, if I ever stopped learning.....well I'd probably send my order to Dave for a 6ft x 4ft x 4ft planed and varnished solid wood with handcrafted metalwork coffin because I know it'd be built to perfection and with passion and pride.

    It’s the mark of a true professional when you can say - yep - that was wrong, let’s do it right and throw all that previous work to one side. Let’s face it, the owner probably wouldn’t have had a clue that it wasn’t correct, but you did and that’s all that counts.

    • @tuberzish
      @tuberzish Рік тому +4

      Exactly what I was thinking. As hard as it is to admit being wrong, It does get easier with practice, and I can say that from experience. The process that we go through can sometimes be even more valuable than the product we produce in terms of character and reputation. After a while we can look back on our lives and say that admitting our mistakes can be among the best decisions we ever made.

    Every time i watch one of these episode and builds i'm amazed and learn a great deal not only about the history but all these little intricacy's of these coaches and all the hard work that went into building them.. Seeing them up close and all the iron work made me think man those craftspeople of the times had so many varying skills to be able to put them together. Just like we see Mr Engels do to be able to rebuild these literately from scratch.. From the iron work to wood work to wheelwright. Gives me a real appreciation for it all.

It is a challenging affair that one has to be willing take on as people see things differently in fuzzy photos. I so appreciate your determination to get it RIGHT. I am the same way about things looking right and if historical, be true to the original. Did a kitchen remodel on a late 1920s house a few years back, and of course, I installed a DRAINBOARD tile countertop, despite some questions of why I didn't do a granite countertop. There are some concessions you have to make for a modern kitchen, but for that era of house in it's "price range", the old square edge drainboard with hex tiles and subway tile backsplash was the only correct choice. It looks like the way you showed here logically must be correct. Kudos to you!🤠
