That young Lady was so understanding about how little she knew about the MMA/Martial Arts world and the fact that Master Ken was so patient with her, this is a testament as to how much master Ken cares about people and their welfare.
"If you train every day, the concrete tends to become a little abrasive." - This is the most wonderful and poetic explanation of a floor that has ever crossed my way. You have a beautiful way of putting words, Makilla!
Last week I got into a street fight with a guy who said he was a black belt in Ameri-do-te and that Master Ken was his teacher. We got to fighting and at first I had him going.. really putting those knuckles on him.. lefts, rights, hooks, uppercuts.. but then from out of nowhere he landed a perfectly placed front kick that connected perfectly.. right to my groin.. I went down like a bag of bricks.. and while down on the ground.. he re-stomped my groin.. twice - fight over.. I was done.. finished.. game over. I lost the fight.. he was the better man.. and his high level Ameri-do-te techniques were simply incredible!
So the guy _told you_ ahead of time that he was trained in Ameridote, and you participated in combat with him anyway? What the hell is wrong with you?! You coulda been killed smh!..
Don't know what people find so funny, as the points that Master Ken raises are important and should be considered seriously and with the greatest respect. The lives of many fighters to come depend on it, to heed his advice and wisdom and they should be thankful for living in the same aera with him so they can benefit the most.
a surprise COOCH inspection can be rough. Luckily this dojo handled it smoothly even though Ken thought he smelled something fishy. I'm it was a real hairy predicament but it looked like fun and everyone came out on top.
Same, and when I got into a fight with a school bully, all those lessons didnt help at all. Imagine how embarrassing it was for a 37 year old man to get his ass kicked by a 13 year old.
All jokes aside...the point that practicing on soft mats will make you practice takedowns/taking shots that will hurt you on concrete is actually good advice.
So true, so true... Personally, I need someone in my life to tell me that everything I do (and everything I did up until this point) - is complete bullshit. Without that kind of input, something is painfully missing. That is especially true ever since I split ways with my ex girlfriend...
Haha, I used to make firewood with my bare knuckles during my teenage years. So when training maximum pushups on knuckles first in my 40's in pencak silat and later kung fu in my 50's the young generation always lost. Young learned stays your whole life. Great learning, master Ken.
They were so surprised and intimidated by Master Ken that they tried to trick him and lock him out. Only by his grace and compassion did he not rip the door off its hinges with his tiger claw. He had finished his inspection anyway.
Haha I love that this was right at home for me. Right here in the relaxing, cool state of Arizona, where it doesn't get to the low temperature of 150° everyday.
3:18 I'd say, training at a soft surface is benefical to Ameridote, 'cause pure concrete wears off pretty fast in a serious fight. Punching, kicking and restomping someone at the ground tends to lower the floor at a pretty fast rate with every hardcore session. So, you wanna have some sort of soft, flexible, easy-to-replace ground to train on? Otherwise you're ending up rather fast in a pit fight instead of training plain street techniques, don't you? 💪
Master Ken have you ever had to defend yourself while floating the Salt River? The Bridge troll is an admiral adversary. Combat while in a tube is a bit deflating, what advantages can one use in a similar situation?
I know this is comedy, but there's actually a little truth to trying certain techniques on hard surfaces. If you are surprised for the first time in a real fight be how your takedown hurts you on a hard floor, it can be bad. Not to meantion it can really help you find minor imperfections in your falls, rolls, etc. I'm not saying you do your practice there, but it's worth just occasionally experiencing in a safe and controlled way as you get more advanced.
Y'all should do a series where it's like "Hell's Kitchen" and have Master Ken show up to some dojos to tune everyone up and show them how it should be done.
SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE TEACHES IS SPORT AND HER DOJO AND BUSINESS IS FOR SPORT WHICH IS PROFIT AND ABIDING BY STATE AND LOCAL LAWS. WHY I KNOW? MY LATE INSTRUCTOR AND HIS FRIENDS THE ENGINEER BROTHERS “DOGG BROTHERS” JKD/KALI MASTERS teach and train for street that is ILLEGAL in ANY STATE and they are in California. The real combat instructors DO NOT TEACH in public cause their training would VIOLATE STATE and Local laws they may reside irregardless of state. The Navy Seals and Army special forces also go overseas to learn other arts for their requirements. Marines and special ops in the USA go to the Philippines were I was born to learn Eskrima/ Kali. Ground fighting is the LAST range in all FOUR combat ranges. Anyone who relies on GROUND FIGHTING such as jiu jitsu or wrestling will get KILLED in combat. It is a necessary RANGE only when you end up in the ground with little or no options left. Manny SPORT MMA are idiots thinking that real fighting is mostly ground. That is complete opposite in actual combat. Vietnam vets are the last US MILITARY to face hand to hand combat. They can tell you, knife training is far more important than wrestling or ground fighting even thougn those ranges are a must but not the MAIN range in combat. Stand up grappling from knife fighting in Eskrima is far more important. In Chinese it would be CHIN NA where Filipino grappling came from

😂 Omg , I agree with training on concrete,, when I started Shotokan, and trained Kata at home; I only had concrete path. Barefoot, my feet now are like hardened leather. I started at 14, had a very long break. But still my feet are leatherish... Now an instructor at 57
That was so funny, too many classic quotes to mention them all (two they in one they out, research has shown.......). It reminds me of mike hammer PI from the 80's only funnier. Great job.
Every time I watch one of these Master Ken videos, I grow a beard and another chest hair. Guess I'm going to have to start using the men's rooms from now on.

😂🤣
That young Lady was so understanding about how little she knew about the MMA/Martial Arts world and the fact that Master Ken was so patient with her, this is a testament as to how much master Ken cares about people and their welfare.
Wow, both of them were a good sport in this. Mikaela for going along with his suggestions and Master Ken for not kicking down the door at the end.
True, true. That door would have hurt a lot of those students who have no training with gravel or concrete, let alone steel doors.
I must admit, Master Ken's 500-0 fight record is pretty impressive.
He's been in over 500 street fights so he just stopped counting restomped groins.
Best of all.. second to none...so this shouldn't be surprising
Yes, but it's surprises me that there are 500 people dumb enough to try to fight him.
Assuming its 500 wins and not losses??
Translation to german Makes an ":" out of your "-", that proves german is better, because 500-0 still is 500.

Michaela plays the best "straight man” in Master Ken’s videos. She’s awesome!
Never underestimate the importance of a thorough C.O.O.C.H. inspection.
Also realistic flesh and bone simulation.
thank goodness no gunts or grundles were injured during the making of this
@Pa Mu , Rocky is a fictional character, Master Ken is real. Now bow to your sensei. BOW TO YOUR SENSEI!
@Pa Mu , true true, he did use meat.
For sure inspecting coooch is important
I'm glad Master Ken makes an effort to make sure these facilities are in proper order for teaching effective martial arts.

And no ppv fee to watch him embarrass ring fighters.
The book & keychain still cost money.

I took Karate and Judo for a number of years. We never used meat, or used gravel. I just think how much I missed and how much I admire Master Ken.
I trained with master Ken in his hey day. He made us hunt our own boars to skin and punch.
You will never find the the source of the stream until you have a pebble in your sandal Padwan.
I am so sorry to hear you wasted years on BS Karate and BS Judo. But luckily now you found Master Ken.
