My Vero was a gift and was a one leaf cutting. I believe it is the exact same as yours. I was not impressed but loved it because of where it came from. One year later it is growing well and I do love it sometimes but if I forget to keep it very watered it will wilt dramatically! I did just discover that the vero and 2 other similiar philos need poles because they are a tangle of growth. Thank you for the video and information. I think I will make this a priority this week because yours really did look beautiful when you were done. :-)
Thank you :) Yes, they definitely benefit from a pole! I do find some other aroids are quite annoying when not on a pole. I hope your grows into a magnificent beast too!

Your Verrucosum is FAB! I have noticed with mine it is needing a bit more water than I expected when I first got it, I only got it last autumn and it fast became a favourite 😁 it is a little slow with it's latest leaf but I started fertilising so hopefully he'll come on a bit more soon 🙏
I have to say, this one was quite disappointing when I got it, but I grew to like it. I like Philodendron though, so it wasn't too hard for me to start liking it 😂
Watch out - you may summon Audrey 2 from The Little Shop of Horrors. Lovely Plant it's a good idea to support the moss pole with the bamboo - I'm going to have to try that.

I have a small verrucosum I got as a cutting last year. I agree with you that they do prefer the roots to be wet or moist. I just transferred my plant from moss to coir compost. I'm not sure whether it would benefit from vermicompost to feed it, do they need alot of feeding like miracle gro or seaweed solution? Sorry for the long post. Your P. Verrucosum is stunning btw 😍
@@BasiePlants By the way, did you notice in her last video she was wearing a "summon demons" t-shirt (which I also own btw)? If that isn't a spiritual connection, I don't know what is 😂
Thank you for another great video 🙂 I'm trying desperately to root 2 V. Bosco. I put it in moss in a bag and it definitely didn't like that so now it's in Leca. I hope it works but I really hate propagation, I'm so bad at it 😨
Ohh I wish I have verocosum in my collection 😂 yep one day lol, great video again. You may should try using wood plank to attach her instead of moss pole and 5 bamboo sticks 😂😂👍👍
Oh, I think it wouldn't be too hard to find one there! Haha, I did think about wood planks, but that would also be a hassle. Let's face it, these plants are not good houseplants, no? I mean, when you think about monstera - it gets huge and massive aerial roots. Probably not the most ideal houseplant, just because of its size.
Heckendünger. ☺️ Maybe it's gonna make the philodendrons extra lush and full. At the moment I use orchid fertilizer for everything except rhododendron. I'm still a total noob when it comes to fertilizing but I assumed something good for orchids might be ok for other epiphytes too.😅 I like my verrucosum but compared to others philodendrons it's a little bit of a diva. I got a pot with 3 cuttings and with one of them I had problems with the petioles rotting off the stem. Really weird. The rest of the plant (i.e. the roots and stem ) seemed fine but the area where the leaves meets the stem just started rotting... like the plant was deciding they don't need that leaf anymore. I've got it in a mix of mostly leca with a bit of moss and bark and water it a soon as it starts to get slightly droopy.
That's interesting. I never noticed mine doing that. But I do agree it is a diva! However, I find that when I give it water regularly, it is fine :) Fertilizer... Eh, I think that is a long topic and I am also a beginner there. I have been trying several things in the past year, but there are so many things to consider!
As a German, I approve of your pronunciation 👌🏽😛😄 however, your osmocote said boxwood and hedges slow release fertiliser on the packaging. Does it work without problems on your house plants too? 🪴
If I had to read that 8 years ago, it would have been much better. My German teacher would not be proud now 😂 The package also says it's for evergreen plants. I checked the NPK and it's 17% nitrogen, 9% phosphorus and 11% potassium. It's a bit higher in nitrogen, but it also has micronutrients such as magnesium, copper, iron, boron, manganese, zync and molybodenum so it should be fine. I used it wih Philodendron squamiferum and 'Florida' and both are doing great - it's been over 6 months, so the effects of the fertilizer wore off by now, but I didn't see any side effects honestly. Probably better than me underfeeding them a lot. With lights all around they never stop growing for me, even in winter. I will report back though on how it does!

Hi Miro, I keep my verrucosum in the terrarium but still worry about bugs. What is the first sign of spider mites that you will worry and start the treatment? I know that the visible webs are the sign that it's too late! Please advise.
The first sign I noticed is small dots on the front and the back - many of them, like discoloration of the leaf. It doesn't have that full, lush green color on the front and red on the back, but insead it looks like some kind of scrapping.
I am sorry to hear that! It could be several things - did you give it water? I find it to be a very thirsty plant. It could also be repotting stress. I hope it recovered by now!
Maybe it suffered from transplant shock. I had it in ICU by putting it in a large plastic bag so the humidity will stabilize. It went okay but the newest leaf and its petiole is still droopy and crumpled but the rest have recovered. I gave it a drink. Will try to water it with Hormex. I think I might start to treat it like a calathea. Thank you 💚
@@jekdeleon98 I can tell you it definitely prefers Calathea treatment than Philodendron treatment. At least for me. Some of the cuttings I am rooting are also a bit finicky unless I keep them bagged.
IM BACK! as well as my revived verrucosum! HAHAHA the droopy stem which i thought was aleady rot bounced back into a springy one. I put it on a huge semi-frosted plastic bag and kept it there fow two weeks while opening it every 3 days for air. And it's backkkk! 😄
I mean, I use RainMix that says 'orchids' for my hoyas and they love it :D The nutrient content is there for this fertilizer and it didn't harm other philos that I used it for last year :)
Also, there is nothing in my pot but coco coir and perlite and there is nothing in coco coir. :D That is also important. I wouldn't perhaps use it if I had worm castings. And I water with rainwater that has very low ppm, so no minerals like some tap water. All of those are important factors and the amount of light too :)
I look at NPK ratios and micronutrients rather than what it says on the bag :) I also use orchid fertilizer for hoyas. My verrucosum doesn't mind it at all. Plenty of people that grow Philodendronds use some type of osmocote and none of those are intented actually for Philodendrons, and they are having fantastic results :D

No hoyas today? Not a single one? You broke my heart
Sorry 😂 No worries, there will be hoyas :)
Beautyfullll. I want one like that.
She is a real beauty🥰🥰🥰
I think so too!
02:00 me with my adhd LOL
Buchs und Hecken Dünger. Wiesooo 😄🤷🏽♀️
I mean, I use RainMix that says 'orchids' for my hoyas and they love it :D The nutrient content is there for this fertilizer and it didn't harm other philos that I used it for last year :)
@@BasiePlants okay, I'm going to buy it tomorrow and keep you updated 😄🥰
Also, there is nothing in my pot but coco coir and perlite and there is nothing in coco coir. :D That is also important. I wouldn't perhaps use it if I had worm castings. And I water with rainwater that has very low ppm, so no minerals like some tap water. All of those are important factors and the amount of light too :)
@@BasiePlants Alright. I also use coco coir and if I use the buchs dünger, then I maybe should use just a little of it not to over do it 😊
😝😝😝😝
#noonecares
Indeed.
You should put the steak in before filling pot with soil 🤣🤣🤣😆.
I think there were more issues there 😂
Bahaha I live for the weird stuff
Plenty of that in this video 😂
Hehe 🙃
Constantly hide things from myself and never find them again 🤔
🤣🤣🤣
This fertilizer is for bushes and hedges lmao
I look at NPK ratios and micronutrients rather than what it says on the bag :) I also use orchid fertilizer for hoyas. My verrucosum doesn't mind it at all. Plenty of people that grow Philodendronds use some type of osmocote and none of those are intented actually for Philodendrons, and they are having fantastic results :D
