In today's video, we're continuing the 240SX restomod project by rebuilding the steering rack, swapping in new bushings and installing an R33 Skyline subframe. In the last episode (link below), we stripped out the engine bay in preparation for the upcoming RB25DET swap. There's still a lot to figure out when it comes to placement and routing of things, but lots of progress is being made. Next up, we'll be test fitting the new engine for the first time. If you haven't seen my most recent update video (link below), I went over a lot of updates with regards to content and the future of the channel so be sure to check it out!

This is going to be a gem when it’s finished.
This looks to be more like a fyeah spec build! Love that you put in ekstra work to make everything clean and OEM!!
Lots of people have mentioned him. I haven't seen his videos before, but I'll be checking them out. Thanks!
I'm enjoying this series!
Thanks bud!
For handheld camcorders, I recommend any Sony handheld camcorders. I personally own the Sony AX100 4K.
better yet, there"s this really cool invention called s tripod. OMG! look! it's no longer necessary to hold the camera and it actually remains steady. Dayyyyyyyyyyyyum!! Can you believe this?
Carter Xiong Yeah man, I was looking into that, might go for their new AX700 version 👍🏻
You accomplished the replacement of the steering rack and put in the R33 Subframe and also Rob brought an adorable puppy to the shop
Brian Hobbins Yessir!
Love this channel. Just like him don't know much about working on the engine. Learning so much. Thank you Kyle and keep up the great work
I feel you on the tools Kyle. I have developed a tool collection from needing different tools for different jobs or not having the proper tool I needed at the time. You keep working at it Kyle. It is interesting watch.
Thanks pal!
I like how you are keeping the ac and power steering unlike most people get rid of practically everything and have only the essentials on there build
It's going to be a challenge, but I'm determined to figure it out.
That steering rack is looking slick aye! Loving the garage and lift setup. That's a dream come true right there Haha. Awesome work bro
The level of meticulous detail is excellent
I only can imagine the effort and time it takes for you to gather information for the new parts, and getting new everything.
It takes a long time for sure, but it's worth it. Now, doing it on multiple vehicles will be interesting haha.
@@saabkyle04 I believe that. Keep up the good work. One of the best channels out there.
Thanks pal!
I'm liking the channel transition from used car start ups to cool builds
Thanks a lot!
Is that Saabkyle? Damn bro.... he looks so much like a Man now. 😂😂😅
Charles Cab LOL 😂
Beard life 😂
20:46 sounded like the violins in a cheesy horror movie
Trueee haha
12:08 4K camcorders aren't very common, though a lot of UA-camrs use the Sony Alpha a7 II. It's not a camcorder but it's a commonly used camera with very few reported issues.
Yeah I've seen that around too, I'm just a camcorder guy. Thank you!
Man it been so long, but finally it's comming together, looking forward to see the next video
Sarmad Hamza Thanks pal!!
literally the only video i was looking forward to as this is what i need to do. and the camera stopped recording so rip me
Watching this series, which I really love, makes me want to do a really clean sleeper car
Mcky Duatin. Do it! 🙌🏻
restoring is always great keep it up!
Thanks!
Kyle I enjoy all your vids my dude ! The direction this channel has taken is so freaking AWESOME!
Thank you so much for the support my friend!
Sweet project, will be a hell of a cool car once it's finished! Kudos to you!
Watched the whole vid. I love this series keep up the hard work
Love watching your videos Kyle, great attention to detail, a LOT of mechanics could do well to watch you do these jobs. Most mechanics work on dirty cars and put NEW parts and but never clean anything. Half a job in my opinion to NOT clean the parts and surrounds.
That subframe looks amazing!
Really liking the work you continue to put in with this car. Keep it up!
Thank you!
I believe the s-chassis value goes up every time you post a video on this series.
Hahaha, who knows
Even though it's a DSLR, I have absolutely loved my Panasonic GH4 over the past 2 years I've used it, and I've heard the GH5 is even better.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Cant wait for the Engine and HEAR THAT SOUND 😍😍
Awesome as always!
Rebuilding the steering rack looks labor intensive, but it is worth the effort! That R33 subframe would definitely enhance the 240's handling.
It's just a process and you have to be patient, but it turned out great!
@@saabkyle04 That's right!
Great video a new subframe makes a big difference I installed a brand new subframe on my car it feels like a new car it really improves ride quality.
I enjoy the new concept of your videos Kyle
When I see a 240 video, I hit like
When I see a pupper in the same video, instant like before even watching it!
Hahaha, puppers make everything better!
I can't wait to hear the new engine!
Chika Okere Dude I know!!!
This'll be such a fun car to throw around when it's finished. All the new parts will ensure it's amazing to drive! Nice work, Kyle!
*EDIT: I also really appreciate that you don't curse on camera, thanks for that.
Christopher Tibbitts Thank you for watching my friend. I want these videos to be enjoyable for all ages. I appreciate the support!
@@saabkyle04 Of course, dude! By the time 2019 rolls around (in a few days!) I will have seen 6 years' worth of your stuff. You have easily the best channel on UA-cam, no joke.
That's so awesome, it really means a lot!! Time sure flies, May 2019 will mark 6 years of me doing this full time 🙌
@@saabkyle04 It's great quality and content, dude...has been from the beginning. Keep it up.
Tran: someone put in the wrench time... what do you think lance?
Lance: it’s a beautiful machine...🔫🔫🔫 🔥
Steven Crellin Dude I just watched that again the other night! 🙌🏻
Saabkyle04 I know there’s no way you can afford everything that’s under the hood of that car by doing tuneups and doing UA-cam videos, whatever else you got.. I want in..
Hahahahaha 🙌
Your content is lit bro. Also happy new year bro much love from 🇬🇷
Great update and some nice progress! This gonna be one clean 240sx. Sorry to hesr about the camera, but hey take it as an opportunity to up the video quality even more.
guliverovi There’s always a bright side! Thanks for watching!
Seems like it’s becoming less of a restomod and more of a clean drift missile project
No, it's not a drift missile project lol.
Saabkyle04 I’ll hold you to it lol......does the Initial D theme song play in your head every time you open the garage and see her sitting?
By definition, according to OPGI, a "restomod" is a vehicle that has been put back together with the addition of new modern or aftermarket parts that were not on the vehicle when it came from the factory. Just because it's a 240SX, doesn't mean it's automatically a drift missile 👌 To be honest, I've never seen Initial D haha.
Saabkyle04 i know I know I’m teasing....good to see a S13 in good hands, also if you can deal with anime you should give it a try Initial D is on Hulu currently. Also how long did it take you to find that unicorn I’m in NC also and I’ve only seen one and it was sold the day after I saw the listing.
Ohhh sweet, I'll definitely do that! I got really lucky with my car. It was for sale locally, just sitting in front of an older gentleman's house. He didn't have it listed anywhere online, otherwise it probably would have been gone. From what I remember, it actually sat for a while. Most folks around here didn't know what it was haha.
Great video and on the rebuilding process of the car
Thanks Antonio!
Awsome video...now hurry and make more lol..but all jokes aside you're doing an excellent job hopefully one day you'll have a car meet ..so u can see this unicorn in person
So i can *
Thank you so much dude, I really appreciate it!
I hope 2019 gets you all your view back man! Like and supporting you all the way! (give us more viper content)
Saabkyle it’s easier to use a little bit of diesel fuel to clean up the engine bay . Takes the gunk off really fast that’s what I did to clean my dirty subframe on my saab when I had the chance of changing out my transmission .... really enjoying this series why not. Restore an exotic car in the future
Pupper! Instant thumb up!
Yeahhhh buddy!
Hi I gotta say these videos are much better than your reviews keep it up Kyle!
Markus Steel9-3 A Thanks bud 🙏🏻
great work, good pointers, keep it up!
You should rename your channel to Kyle’s dream garage 😁
Yeaahhhh man!
Happy New Year!
Looks awesome great work 👍
Super clean.
Kyle, I recommend you get a Canon VIXIA HF R800. Its rugged, has good quality, and surprisingly not too expensive for being able to record in 1080p!
GrtCh I want to switch away from Canon. I’ve had a ton of issues with the ones I’ve had over the last couple years. Time to try something new I think. Thank you for the suggestion!
Love your vids ☺👍 awesome keep up the good work love that 240sx
this honda 420xs is gonna be so cool
Wat? hahaha
cleaner than my room
I like these type of videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Hope that u guys can import an actual R33 soon
I think you can, just not the GTR, I haven't been keeping up with it
@@saabkyle04 I see
Yeah, I saw a 4 door R33 with lime green coating driving around where I live, so it’s doable.
R33's are legal now for the 1993 models only so no GT-R its only 4-doors and GTS25T's
Keep an eye on those flexible steering lines to make sure they won't rub against something or each other.
Gabriel Tomass That shouldn’t happen the way I oriented them, made sure they didn’t touch, but I’ll definitely keep an eye on them 👌🏻
Cannon cameras r good for movement recording, better go for those Kyle!
It looks awsome! Good work! :)
Canon EOS SL2 is a pretty great camera for vlogging. Not a camcorder. But definitely something to consider. Heard nothing but good things about it.
Thanks buddy!
COOL Steering Rack Rebuild & R33 Subframe Install (RB25 Swap Pt.3): 240SX Restomod Ep.27
This is clean.
Jhe Cer Thanks dude!
Hey Kyle, I'm enjoying your build and great videos! Have you checked out the RB25 swap stuff they have at Enjuku racing? I linked some cool s13-RB25 swap wiring harnesses by Wiring Specialties in your other videos, they have cruise control and ac wiring. I'm sure you'll have it all figured out. Keep up the good work.
Oh and my second car was a grey manual 89 240sx se fastback, bought it in 01 for 2k and had it for about 6 months before i blew a head gasket, being 17 and I just bought a new car and let it sit for years, then sold it for 500$, I hate myself everytime I think about it. It was such a fun car.
Aww man, sorry to hear about that car! 240s are going for crazy money nowadays, people think their worth their weight in gold haha. I actually have everything I need to do the swap. The materials were gathered a while ago. I have the wiring specialties pro harness and Syko mounts 👍👍 Thanks man!
Keep up with the good work and cute dog by the way
Preciate it pal!
I'd love to see a video of Penny and Veyron playing together lol
Soooo much cuteness would ensue haha
Acompanho seu canal faz muito tempo a qui no Brasil
Looks great 👍👍👍
Thanks!
27 seconds ago lol, quite a timing for me
Thanks for the support!
Happy new year!!!))))
So satisfying
Thanks!
Next new bash bar, sikky sway bar, then bay repaint.
I have a street faction BB on order, hopefully the wait isn't too gnarly, still need to look at that sway bar though.
@@saabkyle04 I wonder if you got the one AdamLZ has ?
Edit: want a good sway bar, sikky is the way to go
Appreciate the suggestions dude!
@@saabkyle04 Thanks
nice restoration!!!!! 😊😊😊
Thank you!
Are you sure that blowoff port location will actually flow exhaust gasses past the turbo?
Cletus had that issue with his blowoff port on Ruby, it kept boost creeping on him because the blowoff valve couldn’t effectively vent the exhaust gasses do to them flowing right past the port.
Do you have part number for all those bolts, that would be cool if someone else wants to do this project as well 👍
Mate there is a special tool so you can buy ive got one for removing the rack end . Its a just two pieces of flat metal in a tear drop shape with big holes through both pieces of metal has a 17 mm head on smaller side of the tear drop and a spacer between the two they move independent gor each other so it can grip . You and everyone else should buy one . Great for rack ends that can't be removed because tight spaces or you have too remove the whole crossmember or engines
Wow, really?? That's awesome! I'll look into that, I really appreciate the tip!
Beard. Good move! Goodbye to baby face Kyle
Regards from Mexico!
👋😁
surprised nissan usa is not involved in some capacity with any support. Great build
I see you replaced the rubber cushions with polyurethane replacements. And I don't think you will have any problems with those types in that application. But I replaced all the bushings on my Blazer with polyurethane and they squeak pretty loud every time it rains. I wish I would have gone back with rubber. JMHO
Hey Gary! Sorry to hear you had trouble with yours. I actually thought about using some on the Jimmy for the body mount bushings so that's interesting to hear. The trick with poly bushings is that they have to be lubricated pretty good with a tacky grease. I've used poly bushings in other areas of the 240's suspension without issue yet so I have my fingers crossed. I've always heard that's a possible downside with poly bushings though, they can squeak.
hi from mother Russia)) nice garage
Thank you!
Replace the heater core while you’re at it! No engine, electronics, just the firewall you have to get behind
Wouldn't you have to remove the dash for that? I really hadn't thought about that, but something worth considering I suppose.
I'm here for my heart!
The lion was in the line in front of you sorry
yo Kyle just use some tie straps on those steering rack booths. they do the jobs extremely well
Thank you!
The goatee suits you keep it
Great video very helpful just wondering on the R33 gtst steering rack there's an angle sensor is there anyway of bypassing it
Great video bro. Where did you buy the steering rack rebuild kit? Thank you
Not an SUV or Pick Up fan, so admittedly skip those videos, but as soon as a 240 video pops up, it is coffee time and a video. Sorry about the camera.
Hi, about cameras..Have a look at wranglestar's last video...All the good stuff, you will find there. Thank you fot your videos and Happy 2019!
Great videos. I am looking to put a similar subframe into my 1987 supra to get a rear steer setup for an engine swap.
Would you have the dimensions because it looks very similar to the supra subframe except it being a rear steer, and the shape that I need. Thank you.
What made you choose the satin black over the oem midnight purple already there? It'll also make the car look more unique but factory original if, essentially, the entire bare frame of the car was that color, instead of parts of it just being black or whatever. Also nice progress on the car so far!
Are you going to do more reviews anytime soon? Anyways love the content!
Kyle will you make a video where you explain which method you use to remember which bolt goes where etc. whenever you take something of the car?
I'm terrible at that haha, at least on this car. I'm trying to get better. I've found that plastic bags and labels work wonders. Keeps things together.
Do the review on the 2019 chevy blazer .want to see what you think about the suv overall
Great video keep it up.
Thank you!
Tommyfyeah fendercoating
Did you knew Jimmy de Santa is kinda you!?!? Lol
Happy New Year early, Kyle! I have a slight suggestion for a song that you can play for a New Year's Eve party. The song is from 1999, it's by Jennifer Lopez and the song is called "Waiting for Tonight." I love to play this song on New Year's Eve because it gives me a rush of adrenaline and a feeling of excitement as the clock ticks closer and closer to midnight. You like J.Lo?
Thanks a lot Michael, my wife loves J.Lo, she might have that album too!
Factory = history and money if it doesn’t need replacing. I was told if I replace stuff on my 94 keep the original parts if i resell.
Not selling this car. Original parts are great, but if they are worn out and pose a safety hazard, then that doesn't do anyone much good. However, it depends on the car.
I like What you do ... it's nice
Get a 4K camera/camcorder will make for even better videos keep up the good work can’t wait to see more
Thanks Tom!
Make sure to take a bfh to the trans tunnel before it goes to paint. Tunnel will need to be beaten in to clear the trans.
I'm hoping with the R33 subframe I won't have to do much of that, but we'll see. I've decided painting the bay needs to be the last thing done before final assembly for exactly that. We have to make sure no hammering needs to be done after it's all pretty haha.
@@saabkyle04 You will still need to do some massaging. I also run the R33 subframe but using oem Megan motor mount replacements. And if i were to use the syko mounts like I would want. It would push it back an inch further towards the firewall.
I still want to tackle AC this upcoming year but will have to get creative. I have an oil cooler right where the condensor usually lives.
That's good to know, I appreciate the insight dude 👌 I have the Syko mounts so that's good to know too haha. I need to try and get the bolts that hold the trans to the engine, I never had them. It would be nice to test fit the engine and trans in the next video, but the engine would be cool to test fit at the very least. I'll see what I can dig up! Really interested to hear your thoughts on A/C when you tackle it!
@@saabkyle04 Ill definitely let you know, but im sure it will be some custom condensor or a honda one.
