  • This video details the successful rehabilitation of a patient suffering pain and impairment as a result of the straight spine or back syndrome (SBS or SSS). The case report was published in the peer-reviewed literature and is part of the CBP Nonprofit organization's publication series. SBS is a congenital and developmental straightening of the thoracic kyphosis due to a narrowing of the sagittal plane (front to back) diameter of the chest wall. The SBS was reported in the scientific literature as early as 1967 and continued research is developing. The disorder causes cardiac and pulmonary impairments due to mechanical forces acting on the heart and lungs as a result of the chest wall narrowing. Very few surgical studies exist detailing the management and outcomes of this disorder and even fewer conservative rehabilitation strategies exist. We are proud to contribute to the conservative literature on this topic and have detailed the successful management in this case using the Chiropractic BioPhysics technique methods.
