It's funny because Natarle did so much more as Murrue's first mate and second-in-command than when she was at the helm of her own ship. It's probably because of Azrael's micro-managing nature. Btw, in one of the GBA SEED Games "Tomo to Kimi to Koko de", it's possible for the player to save both Natarle and Mu. There is a scenario when the Archangel is in ORB where you are given the option to play cupid between Ensign Neumann and Natarle. If the scenario is successful, Natarle first warns Murrue of the Dominion's next move and evacuates the Dominion. Without anyone else with him in the bridge, Azrael was powerless and so he couldn't fire the Lohengrin at the Archangel, saving Mu's life. Murrue then fires the Lohengrin at the Dominion, killing Azrael as the Archangel picks up Natarle's life pod.
@Wing Zero1986 What hurts the most about this scene for me, is that while I am happy that Muruta Azrael got what he freaken deserved......I feel so awful for Natarle....and Murrue.....Natarle for having to die, and Murrue....who for all she knows just lost Mu for good and also wont ever know what really happened on the bridge of the Dominion and how Natarle actually fought for Murrue's side in the end and likely feels like Natarle, a friend, just betrayed her in the worst way possible. I say she wont ever know because if I am not mistaken, none of the Dominion's Lifepods made it to the Archangel, especially not Flay's Lifepod.....so unless there were survivors of the Dominion who could tell the Archangel crew of the heroics of Natarle.....the Archangel crew has no way of knowing.....and for all they know Natarle was the one who gave the order to fire the Dominion's Lohengrin that killed Mu La Flaga instead of destroying the Archangel. The ONE bit of evidence that can suggest that Natarle helped them in the end, was when the Dominion's crew was abandoning ship, so even if none of the Dominion crew survived, this is the one thing that can tell the Archangel crew that something was up aboard the Dominion. Still I feel so bad for both Murrue and Natarle.
SEED was my first "real" anime I watched as a kid when it was still relatively new. I don't think I was even in middle school yet. The scenes of Genesis irradiating all those people until they popped stuck with me and was the most violent thing I'd ever seen back then. It still strikes me as an incredibly brutal idea even in abstraction, especially with how quickly it happens. It really helped the final act drive the show's overall message home.
Seeing Natarle getting shot's multiple times is still horrific and cruel till this day..and so far only SEED can make that level of cruel, not even crush brown bean's IBO or tomato splat WFM can reach that level, messed up yes but not evil messed up.

Sutherland's death at 16:00 was so satisfying. He knew Zaft was going to attack the base in Alaska and used the Archangel and several of their forces as bait.
And Yzak, who was part of the attacking ZAFT force, would very well have been one of those killed had Kira not been there. Very poetic that one of those that escaped death at JOSH-A is the one to deal the final blow on the madman responsible for the tragedy.

Seen this scene a lot of times, I lost count. When I first saw this as a kid, it broke me. Mu was a character I liked and it was just as shocking as it was heroic for him to go out that way. So when I saw him replicate this selflessness in Destiny, I was really happy with how it turned out. Za Warudo really made the difference here tho.

Well honestly I take Mu surviving chance being higher, while it was badly damaged. It were mostly limbs The shield took most of the heat, especially when his fight with Rau in Providence, he barely blocked with the shield, so the shield was relatively intact And PS armor etc was still quite active meaning it had fair amount of defensive power even if its meant for ballistic protection. So he probably just got the remnant heat from Lohengrin Now Kira one is absolutely bs. Aside from Astray side story saving him, his cockpit was Sliced open, it wasn't heat remnant. It straight near point blank self destruction. Kira shouldve gotten out but with terrible burn and scar unless that pilot suit is THAT high tech.. At least 00 medical tech was advanced that they can regenerate Lockon eye. But Seed medical tech isn't THAT advanced.

Even though SEED is a series with some serious power creep issues and "God Complex-Kira", there's no denying that it has some solid episodes where the stakes are higher than some of the more modern shows. Even at it's time, these episodes were rock solid intense. Truly worthy of A Baoa Qu levels of intensity.

14:34 Yzak's battle cry is amazing lmao, what an epic moment. He's one of those characters you hate at the start but grow on you upon rewatching. Shoutout to my favourite SEED character Natarle too, definitely one of the most epic deaths in the franchise, girl tanked four shots.
Man seeing what happened to the Earth Forces Lunar base reminded me of a scene I saw from Gundam Seed Freedom where the Requiem cannon was fired at Russia and seeing the people instantly burst into flames was indescribable.
I dont want to say which one is worst, but at least they died while not feeling anything the moment they got instantly flamed by Requiem, those gamma superweapon on the otherhand, literally inflate their body and pop like popcorn for like 5 sec much like the alliance cyclops system, that shit is messed up

The light from the explosions of nukes aimed at the PLANT that was destroyed by METEOR full burst were what made him decide to join the Three Ships Alliance, which is how he ended up saving Cagalli. He has held such high regards to the METEORs that it will be also play a symbolic role to him in Destiny and onwards.

Yzak and Dearka's teamwork against Shani. Impressive strategy. Yzak pulls up in front of him , then the buster weakens his shields. THEN Yzak pulled back to let his shield be destroyed to close in for the final blow. Wild. Cagali was definitely spared from death in that encounter from Shani.
Calamity probably went out in the second most overkill way in the series. Jumped on by two of the most powerful suits jacked up with METEOR units. First most overkill is Providence for getting shanked through the cockpit then blasted point blank range by an exploding GENESIS.
I kind of hate that those Astray pilots got killed so randomly by grunts. I know they're not ace pilots, but they deserved better. If they were going to get killed off, they could have at least gotten killed trying to take out the Calamity or Forbidden.
Omg Lacus’ “hontouni” at 18:23 gave me literal chills. I’ve always admired her voice acting. Her switch ups from cute to dominating. But when she uttered that word it was kinda creepy yet chilling at the same time, hinting at her accord nature. Plus the background music and we finally see her going seed mode. She will always be my favourite.

same reason when you microwave a sausage, it will burst. The "beam" Genesis fires is gamma ray radiation, which somehow boils the water in the human body. When liquid transition into a gaseous state, it expands, hence the ballooning and explosion. To be frank though, I don't think gamma ray would do this. With that kind of high energy emission, the whole body would have disintegrated, not just popping like a balloon
Long story short, they're literally microwaved to death; just put in a bag filled with water and you'll see what happens to the human body hit with a similar effect.

The three astray girls are the saddest death’s in the series for me. It’s so sudden. (Mu’s would be the saddest, but his was retconned in destiny.) Sidenote: The one time Yzak did the screaming thing and was a total badass. Sidenote 2: Kira no longer wants to kill, but for some reason has no qualms about cleaving a battle ship right down the middle 🤣

Man the most brutal deaths is when the G.E.N.E.S.I.S. was fired for a second time at the Earth Forces Lunar Base when that gigantic Gamma Ray hit the fleet first and the bodies of the crew expanded and popped like balloons before the ships exploded and the same when the beam hit the base and hearing the screams of the people inside the base was absolutely horrifying and I could almost swear I was hearing children in there among all those poor souls before they died a death that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy though those jerks who were in the meeting room deserved it as they were the same jerks who condemned the crew of the Archangel before the Alaska base was destroyed and the crew was reunited with Kira after they thought he was killed and man I really really wish Azreal had been onboard one of those ships hit by the beam instead of being onboard the Dominion.

Now Kira one is absolutely bs. Aside from Astray side story saving him, his cockpit was Sliced open, it wasn't heat remnant. It straight near point blank self destruction.

At least 00 medical tech was advanced that they can regenerate Lockon eye. But Seed medical tech isn't THAT advanced.

@@GameHunterDeathhunter I'm not a fan of when any show overly reusing animation. Destiny and Seed included. Its a cost cutting technique that kinda shows animation was not necessarily the primary focus of the team.
Seed and Destiny are notorious for the amount of stock animations there were. So much so that when 00 came out, I was actively looking out for it. Thankfully it wasn't nearly that bad, I think there was like only two instances that I noticed.

Even though SEED is a series with some serious power creep issues and "God Complex-Kira", there's no denying that it has some solid episodes where the stakes are higher than some of the more modern shows. Even at it's time, these episodes were rock solid intense. Truly worthy of A Baoa Qu levels of intensity.

Kamille suffered a complete mental degradation, Setsuna never accomplished His goal until the movie and even that is debatable. Amuro lost his life. Growing up is loving Mu La Flaga more than Kira as a character.
Man seeing what happened to the Earth Forces Lunar base reminded me of a scene I saw from Gundam Seed Freedom where the Requiem cannon was fired at Russia and seeing the people instantly burst into flames was indescribable.
I dont want to say which one is worst, but at least they died while not feeling anything the moment they got instantly flamed by Requiem, those gamma superweapon on the otherhand, literally inflate their body and pop like popcorn for like 5 sec much like the alliance cyclops system, that shit is messed up

TBF Cagalli shot down multiple nukes aimed at PLANTs. That's a pretty good reason to save her.
The light from the explosions of nukes aimed at the PLANT that was destroyed by METEOR full burst were what made him decide to join the Three Ships Alliance, which is how he ended up saving Cagalli.
He has held such high regards to the METEORs that it will be also play a symbolic role to him in Destiny and onwards.

Calamity probably went out in the second most overkill way in the series. Jumped on by two of the most powerful suits jacked up with METEOR units.
First most overkill is Providence for getting shanked through the cockpit then blasted point blank range by an exploding GENESIS.

The "beam" Genesis fires is gamma ray radiation, which somehow boils the water in the human body. When liquid transition into a gaseous state, it expands, hence the ballooning and explosion.
To be frank though, I don't think gamma ray would do this. With that kind of high energy emission, the whole body would have disintegrated, not just popping like a balloon
Long story short, they're literally microwaved to death; just put in a bag filled with water and you'll see what happens to the human body hit with a similar effect.

Ever since Nicol's death Kira has had a very strict no-kill policy, which they even double downed on in Destiny. It almost makes me think it was supposed to be Athrun in that scene. Since we've seen him in this battle have no problem killing earth forces, just like he took out the Calamity. Very strange and out of character for Kira lol

- prioritize orders and regulation over her own crew
- backstab her entire crew by putting every single detail in her report
- the reason archangel and the crew was abandoned in alaska is because natarle report has been Read by EA omni
murrue:
- truly care for the crew like it's her family
- willing to disregard orders and prioritize her own crew over army rules/order and regulations
- put her crew first before anything
- not willing to backstab her crew by reporting them on her report

Man the most brutal deaths is when the G.E.N.E.S.I.S. was fired for a second time at the Earth Forces Lunar Base when that gigantic Gamma Ray hit the fleet first and the bodies of the crew expanded and popped like balloons before the ships exploded and the same when the beam hit the base and hearing the screams of the people inside the base was absolutely horrifying and I could almost swear I was hearing children in there among all those poor souls before they died a death that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy though those jerks who were in the meeting room deserved it as they were the same jerks who condemned the crew of the Archangel before the Alaska base was destroyed and the crew was reunited with Kira after they thought he was killed and man I really really wish Azreal had been onboard one of those ships hit by the beam instead of being onboard the Dominion.
