Cagalli leading Orb forces while fighting and piloting Akatsuki is so cool! I just wish they made her like that since the beginning and not how they portrayed her as weak and foolish. She doesn't even need Athrun who always abandon her 😢 She's strong and she's a great leader. That's my Cagalli! ❤
He did not abandon her he left because he wanted to try to protect orb which is their home for what they were battling for during the war and they wouldn’t allow it by destroying orb which in fact the archangel crew that is on the ship is orb their home and he was trying to defend and protect orb at all cost he just need it to focus on what was a head of him and he still loves and cares very deeply about cagalli
Everyone talks about Athrun and Kira turning the fight here, but let's take a moment to acknowledge Cagalli. For the last several years, she has done more politics than combat, and as such, she is vastly out of practice from the pilot she was at the end of the previous series. She has an untried machine that she has no experience in as well. And she still goes against Shinn as her mecha is the only chance anyone has at that point against Destiny. And then, even later, despite combat damage and nearly being killed, she still breaks the siege at the Defense HQ. She's one tough lady when the chips are down, and there is no time for the doubts that plagued her at the beginning of this series.
In addition, Kagari is dealing with Among Coordinators, a higher species of humans, there is also one that is especially called Ace-level. She is an excellent pilot, but not at an off-standard level. (You will find out why this is said when you watch the movie))
I always liked cagalli but I think she and athrun have been poorly written in Gundam seed destiny. It's one among many flaws of Gundam seed destiny that have made it my least favorite anime. A great joke of a sequel to a great show.

Kria's Seed mode was like Shin's (at first) Controlled by Emotional Anger (Rage) to protect. Only when he finally realized that "Neither Will alone or Strength alone..." where he really controls his SEED activation and duration.
SHin's use of Destiny was "over use" even though it was powered by Nuclear (which should be renewable (under normal usage). His pattern from Impulse shows that. He does push the machines to their limits. However, his anger (rage) in SEED Mode, is the suit's weakness.
Everyone was surprised when Kira returns on Earth but, not just everyone. Even Lacus was surprised to him because he didn't give a speech to stop the fight. He was doing his own task to disable every single unit until it's done. This is why this episode offered me with interest
I mean he just barely made it in time to stop shin from trying to (and knowing his record probably NOT) killing his sister, I think he’s more then a little miffed right there.
If I'm not mistaken Jet Stream Attack was taken from the Universal Century Timeline. It's most likely the same as the Dom of that timeline. It is not performing trans-am. The particles emitted might be Volte Lumiere particles originated from stargazer gundam.. I think freedom has it too. It acts as barrier for the Dom so they can do a linear barrage against superior enemy numbers.

Take note that Kira reentered the atmosphere with Freedom at a much higher velocity as he came straight from PLANT which is in L5 orbit; that, coupled with the gravitational pull of the Earth, he must be travelling in excess of more than 40,000km/h, meanwhile Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice came from Eternal which is currently orbiting the Earth at that time which is somewhere near ~27,000kmh.
And how did the Strike Freedom and ∞ Justice use the Voiture Lumiere propulsion system? Obviously, the ∞ Justice doesn't have it, while the Strike Freedom can only fully utilize the system when its DRAGOONs are out. In the Remaster, we only saw the VL in that initial pose before Kira engaged with the Destiny, and it's just a smaller version since the DRAGOONs aren't fully deployed.

In seed mode he clearly wasnt athrun's equal, whom which is prolly the only pilot who can rival Kira

That's the genius of Destiny. This is still Shinn's story. And the battle for Orb perfectly sums it up. For a LOT of reasons. The series up to this point is Shinn experiencing tragedy and being guided into exactly the wrong lessons at every turn, whether it be by pride, or by an authority figure being JUST kind enough to make him like being told what to do by them, just enough that the other mentor figure in his life(Athrun) comes across as someone he learns quickly to hate. Up to this point, Shinn has loved and lost and blamed the Freedom(and not the people actually responsible), has faltered and blamed Athrun, and by consequence, blames the Archangel as well, and has been guided into hating Lacus too, and up to now, as far as he and the Minerva crew knows... they're all dead. So right now, they're riding high on a series of hard-won victories, especially Shinn, who has built his entire confidence and character on those victories, killing those he thinks are responsible for his loss, surpassing his mentor figure, all of it. The battle for Orb? Especially in this episode? Takes apart every single one of those moments. So everything Shinn built himself on gets deconstructed with all the subtlety of a Big Zam. This episode is effectively the turning point for Shinn's character where he gets completely torn down to less than he was when he started by the end of the series, that moment when not only all of his victories are shown to be lies, but when he starts to slowly realize everything he'd established himself on, the ideals of Zaft, all of it? None of it was real. And he has to come to that realization while fighting a war over the very island where his family was killed as bystanders because of someone fighting a war in the air over it. It's a genius bit of storytelling that a lot of folks missed. What's more is that the battle for Orb? EVERYONE lost. Orb and its allies in this fight start at a disadvantage and add on forces more and more, but they don't really... win. They start with the Akatsuki and Cagalli being useless as usual, they get the freedom, the doms, the justice, Mu and his fighter jet, and... it's still not enough to decisively turn the fight around in a big way, not in any short order anyway. At best, it falls to a stalemate until two of the three people Zaft was looking for end up dead almost entirely by accident, and the third one gets away. And that's the other thing.... Zaft doesn't win either. They came with the goal of getting Azrael, and they whiff it. He got away, Zaft loses a lot of naval assets, and retreats, and ultimately, everyone loses, Azrael gets his way and commits mass murder with a moon laser, and Athrun probably gave himself more brain damage again. The Minerva crew have to contend with having gone toe to toe with an older ship that theirs is based off of and being at a dead stalemate, and just afterwards, the Zaft people have to contend with coming to terms with having been lied to about who Meer is when Lacus gets on the broadcast and reveals herself. The fight for Orb is full of a hell of a lot of ups and downs and moments and such, but ultimately, it ends on a wet blanket, and to draw it back to the main point, the battle for Orb ends with Shinn realizing that everything he's been praised for is wrong, his promotion is a lie, and that he still feels like he has to prove himself, so much so that when he DOES finally take out the space-racist, it's... not enough, and he's still a broken kid. So when the final scene plays, when Shinn's run out of things to do, when his suit is in pieces on the lunar surface and he's watching everything his idolized teacher strived for burn in the distance, and he doesn't have any work he can put himself to in order to put it out of his head, and he absolutely breaks? It's believable. Kira is simply a force of nature in Shinn's world, and is in essence his antagonist right up to the post-battle scene. This is Shinn's series, and it's about adversity and how that adversity can be used against us to build us into something we'd rather not be. How being torn down hurts, and how rebuilding on bad foundations can hurt worse.
0:13:27 that is my fav part in this whole series, if you notice Kira is like a pro gamer vs an annoying kid in online gaming Shinn is like trash talking, but Kira is a quiet kid, but what makes me love about it, is the reason why Kira has to throw both his beam rifle, if he stores it in the side skirt armour, the whole railgun is moved back and can't fire, so he is going to be in the position where he needs to use that red beam on the abdomen which probably going to kill Shinn as you know, Jesus Yamato has become batman, and has no killing rules ~ so in a split second, he decided to throw them in the air, catch the sword with his hands+ beam shield and catch both of them in mid-air , striking a pose, and Shinn taught he is taunting him ~ XD Kira is also known to split beam laser with his beam saber, a Jedi-like move~
The enter battlefield of S.Freedom from space was F cool(in my childhood memories) but after rewatch I change my mind … 3 purple Paratroop drop to battlefield and use “Jet stream Attack” destroy Zaft Mobile suit is F amazing!! Nothing will beat the original Freedom entering from space, and targeting multiple enemies with it's wing lasers back then...i think it's in the original gundam seed, not in angst boy destiny era haha

I didn't realize this before. But Shinn and Rey are essentially in that category of "One Man Army" like how Gundam 00 S2 did with certain pilots. Allowing them to call the shots instead of the commander of the ship.

Oh how I missed Battleship fight in Gundam series. Its literally the best scene next to gundam fight scene. Gundam Seed will forever be the best gundam series.
I find it interesting that the writers were hell-bent at showing how much Cagalli had fallen compared to how badass she was during Gundam Seed. They made her piloting skill degenerate to the level that the only way she could survive through the battle was through piloting an almost invincible mobile suit that had the ability to reflect the shots back to the shooters. Even then, they made it clear that Kira had to bail her out when she fought Shinn. The writers made her headstrong, reckless, not very intelligent, doesn't think much ahead; everything against what she was in GS. The only character in Orb faction that was worse than her is Yuna and he's there just to irritate everyone.
Surely, I dislike the SF so much (but the X10A Freedom is my favourite Gundam in SEED), but I very much like its beam rifles, which can be combined into a longer one. Wished Kira used it more often and in other ways instead of being used as a stock footage of it being blocked by Shinn/Destiny's beam shield. Kira can use it like a sniper rifle for example or mimic how Dearka uses his Buster's combining cannons.
So nice of the Archangel to allow the Minerva to retrieve Shinn for a resupply and re-launch him with Rey while they were in a dogfight. I guess the Minerva allowed Athrun’s launch so fair’s fair.

Ikr ? Vestige fits Strike Freedom entrance more than METEOR. I tried to use the original audio for the HD Remaster but in some parts they're a bit late and won't fit at all.

Yeah people don't realize that the sword grab isn't really that impressive since Seed mode was involved against an unseed Shinn. People also don't look at the fact that the Destiny already lost half of it's weapons at this point. With just a beam rifle, Shinn manage to push back Kira and make him run away for a bit until Shinn retreated
@@desuwa1994 It's not really impressive that Shinn managed to give Kira some issues in combat so it's heavily downplayed once Shinn got the Destiny and Kira had the Strike Freedom. Destiny potentially has higher mobility and thruster output meaning it can move around much faster and it fits Shinn's berserker style plus the WoL can be freely activated if they aren't damaged. The Strike Freedom can only hit that kind of speed with its DRAGOONs deployed and that only happens in space and Kira in general despite being able to match but not quite exceed Athrun in close-quarter combat, can still be a monster using beam sabers if he has to. Even before Shinn was out to kill Kira when they used the Impulse and Freedom respectively, Shinn still surprised Kira a few times. Notably when they first fought each other (before Kira tried to talk reason to Athrun) when the Freedom tried to slash the Blast Impulse's chest and head, and the Impulse avoided it by spinning around in time causing Kira to miss and leaving him briefly stunned that he actually failed to take out the enemy MS after which Kira disengaged from fighting Shinn. As for the Destiny vs. Strike Freedom in Orb, Kira didn't run away, if anything Kira stayed on the battlefield but wasn't given much freedom (no joke intended) to use the Strike Freedom's high speed to stay at a safe distance because Shinn wasn't letting him have it that way. You can see Kira trying to play safe and not let Shinn (who's now IN Seed Mode) overwhelm him up close by using both of the Strike Freedom's built-in beam shields to block the beam shots and struggling as a result as Shinn's going all-out while Kira, unsurprisingly enough, isn't as he's not trying to kill anyone (yet). In the end, we're looking at two very different MSs with different capabilities and two different pilots with very different fighting styles. Shin's a berserker while Kira's a passive mid-long-range pacifist. Destiny is generally an all-rounder but both of the heavy-hitting weapons the Destiny has have massive drawbacks to their power. The beam cannon takes time to fire and needs to be aimed and held by one of the Destiny's hands. Arondight for all its strength won't connect so well against very fast enemies if Shinn can't control his thoughts and emotions. The WoL drains far more power from the Destiny than its nuclear reactors can regenerate, and Shinn doesn't realize this and even when he does, it takes Rey ordering him to return to the Minerva to let his MS recharge and be resupplied as if he kept fighting with his MS losing power, he'd perish. The Strike Freedom, following Kira's specs is mostly geared to being able to gun down enemies from a safe distance while having enough mobility and thruster output to help Kira maintain a safe distance but retains two beam sabers if the MS needs to fight right up in the enemy's face. In the end, speed means nothing here for Shinn in Seed Destiny. He can abuse the WoL all he wants but if he fights too aggressively without thinking, all he's doing is draining more power from the Destiny than he needs to be doing. Arguably, while this would be Shinn's advantage against Kira for a Destiny vs. Strike Freedom match and be his best advantage in non-space battlegrounds, all Kira needs to do to win is survive and not let Shinn overwhelm him completely as all he has to do is stall the Destiny until the WoL drain enough power from the MS to render it unable to defend itself from the Strike Freedom. Kira would win the battle of attrition by fighting carefully and conserving the Strike Freedom's power supply. It's even worse when Shinn tries to fight the same way against Athrun who's far better in melee than Kira is.
Kinda funny that Fukuda said himself that Shinn never lost the MC status in Destiny. He also said that Freedom was planned out all the way back during Destiny. So he probably planned for his redemption arc well into advance
The last time when shin and kira fought with each other, is not really that you can call a head to head battle. Because at that time Kira is not able to concentrate with his opponent trying to protect archangel and at the same time fighting with shin and the fact that shin before made it into the battle, he studied Kira movements and able to find it's weakness.. and Rey took advantage of KIRA's not aiming for his opponent's cockpits because kira never have intention to kill whoever his opponent is except if it is really needed just like what happened to stella

I always thought he just put them away. He really is doing the most to style on Shinn. Side effect them making Vestige the opening apparently is that it's no longer used as an insert song anymore. Strike Freedom's flying into the atmosphere with the Vestige guitar riff was badass.
Disappointing that they didn't at least have Cagalli go Seed mode. Sure, it's not quite the same level Seed mode by Coordinators, but with it she could have been a decent foe for Shinn. She still wouldn't win, but better than just being stomped the entire fight.

The battle between the Minerva and the Archangel is just a capital ship slug-fest, and I love it!!

Everyone was surprised when Kira returns on Earth but, not just everyone. Even Lacus was surprised to him because he didn't give a speech to stop the fight. He was doing his own task to disable every single unit until it's done. This is why this episode offered me with interest

If I'm not mistaken Jet Stream Attack was taken from the Universal Century Timeline. It's most likely the same as the Dom of that timeline. It is not performing trans-am. The particles emitted might be Volte Lumiere particles originated from stargazer gundam.. I think freedom has it too. It acts as barrier for the Dom so they can do a linear barrage against superior enemy numbers.

And how did the Strike Freedom and ∞ Justice use the Voiture Lumiere propulsion system? Obviously, the ∞ Justice doesn't have it, while the Strike Freedom can only fully utilize the system when its DRAGOONs are out. In the Remaster, we only saw the VL in that initial pose before Kira engaged with the Destiny, and it's just a smaller version since the DRAGOONs aren't fully deployed.

That's the genius of Destiny. This is still Shinn's story. And the battle for Orb perfectly sums it up. For a LOT of reasons.
The series up to this point is Shinn experiencing tragedy and being guided into exactly the wrong lessons at every turn, whether it be by pride, or by an authority figure being JUST kind enough to make him like being told what to do by them, just enough that the other mentor figure in his life(Athrun) comes across as someone he learns quickly to hate. Up to this point, Shinn has loved and lost and blamed the Freedom(and not the people actually responsible), has faltered and blamed Athrun, and by consequence, blames the Archangel as well, and has been guided into hating Lacus too, and up to now, as far as he and the Minerva crew knows... they're all dead. So right now, they're riding high on a series of hard-won victories, especially Shinn, who has built his entire confidence and character on those victories, killing those he thinks are responsible for his loss, surpassing his mentor figure, all of it.
The battle for Orb? Especially in this episode? Takes apart every single one of those moments. So everything Shinn built himself on gets deconstructed with all the subtlety of a Big Zam. This episode is effectively the turning point for Shinn's character where he gets completely torn down to less than he was when he started by the end of the series, that moment when not only all of his victories are shown to be lies, but when he starts to slowly realize everything he'd established himself on, the ideals of Zaft, all of it? None of it was real. And he has to come to that realization while fighting a war over the very island where his family was killed as bystanders because of someone fighting a war in the air over it. It's a genius bit of storytelling that a lot of folks missed.
What's more is that the battle for Orb? EVERYONE lost. Orb and its allies in this fight start at a disadvantage and add on forces more and more, but they don't really... win. They start with the Akatsuki and Cagalli being useless as usual, they get the freedom, the doms, the justice, Mu and his fighter jet, and... it's still not enough to decisively turn the fight around in a big way, not in any short order anyway. At best, it falls to a stalemate until two of the three people Zaft was looking for end up dead almost entirely by accident, and the third one gets away. And that's the other thing.... Zaft doesn't win either. They came with the goal of getting Azrael, and they whiff it. He got away, Zaft loses a lot of naval assets, and retreats, and ultimately, everyone loses, Azrael gets his way and commits mass murder with a moon laser, and Athrun probably gave himself more brain damage again. The Minerva crew have to contend with having gone toe to toe with an older ship that theirs is based off of and being at a dead stalemate, and just afterwards, the Zaft people have to contend with coming to terms with having been lied to about who Meer is when Lacus gets on the broadcast and reveals herself. The fight for Orb is full of a hell of a lot of ups and downs and moments and such, but ultimately, it ends on a wet blanket, and to draw it back to the main point, the battle for Orb ends with Shinn realizing that everything he's been praised for is wrong, his promotion is a lie, and that he still feels like he has to prove himself, so much so that when he DOES finally take out the space-racist, it's... not enough, and he's still a broken kid. So when the final scene plays, when Shinn's run out of things to do, when his suit is in pieces on the lunar surface and he's watching everything his idolized teacher strived for burn in the distance, and he doesn't have any work he can put himself to in order to put it out of his head, and he absolutely breaks? It's believable.
Kira is simply a force of nature in Shinn's world, and is in essence his antagonist right up to the post-battle scene. This is Shinn's series, and it's about adversity and how that adversity can be used against us to build us into something we'd rather not be. How being torn down hurts, and how rebuilding on bad foundations can hurt worse.

I find it interesting that the writers were hell-bent at showing how much Cagalli had fallen compared to how badass she was during Gundam Seed. They made her piloting skill degenerate to the level that the only way she could survive through the battle was through piloting an almost invincible mobile suit that had the ability to reflect the shots back to the shooters. Even then, they made it clear that Kira had to bail her out when she fought Shinn. The writers made her headstrong, reckless, not very intelligent, doesn't think much ahead; everything against what she was in GS. The only character in Orb faction that was worse than her is Yuna and he's there just to irritate everyone.

Surely, I dislike the SF so much (but the X10A Freedom is my favourite Gundam in SEED), but I very much like its beam rifles, which can be combined into a longer one. Wished Kira used it more often and in other ways instead of being used as a stock footage of it being blocked by Shinn/Destiny's beam shield. Kira can use it like a sniper rifle for example or mimic how Dearka uses his Buster's combining cannons.

The fact that Shinn in his Destiny STILL causes Kira problems in his Strike Freedom is scary and awesome at the same time.
Yeah people don't realize that the sword grab isn't really that impressive since Seed mode was involved against an unseed Shinn. People also don't look at the fact that the Destiny already lost half of it's weapons at this point. With just a beam rifle, Shinn manage to push back Kira and make him run away for a bit until Shinn retreated
@@desuwa1994 It's not really impressive that Shinn managed to give Kira some issues in combat so it's heavily downplayed once Shinn got the Destiny and Kira had the Strike Freedom. Destiny potentially has higher mobility and thruster output meaning it can move around much faster and it fits Shinn's berserker style plus the WoL can be freely activated if they aren't damaged. The Strike Freedom can only hit that kind of speed with its DRAGOONs deployed and that only happens in space and Kira in general despite being able to match but not quite exceed Athrun in close-quarter combat, can still be a monster using beam sabers if he has to. Even before Shinn was out to kill Kira when they used the Impulse and Freedom respectively, Shinn still surprised Kira a few times. Notably when they first fought each other (before Kira tried to talk reason to Athrun) when the Freedom tried to slash the Blast Impulse's chest and head, and the Impulse avoided it by spinning around in time causing Kira to miss and leaving him briefly stunned that he actually failed to take out the enemy MS after which Kira disengaged from fighting Shinn. As for the Destiny vs. Strike Freedom in Orb, Kira didn't run away, if anything Kira stayed on the battlefield but wasn't given much freedom (no joke intended) to use the Strike Freedom's high speed to stay at a safe distance because Shinn wasn't letting him have it that way. You can see Kira trying to play safe and not let Shinn (who's now IN Seed Mode) overwhelm him up close by using both of the Strike Freedom's built-in beam shields to block the beam shots and struggling as a result as Shinn's going all-out while Kira, unsurprisingly enough, isn't as he's not trying to kill anyone (yet).
In the end, we're looking at two very different MSs with different capabilities and two different pilots with very different fighting styles. Shin's a berserker while Kira's a passive mid-long-range pacifist. Destiny is generally an all-rounder but both of the heavy-hitting weapons the Destiny has have massive drawbacks to their power. The beam cannon takes time to fire and needs to be aimed and held by one of the Destiny's hands. Arondight for all its strength won't connect so well against very fast enemies if Shinn can't control his thoughts and emotions. The WoL drains far more power from the Destiny than its nuclear reactors can regenerate, and Shinn doesn't realize this and even when he does, it takes Rey ordering him to return to the Minerva to let his MS recharge and be resupplied as if he kept fighting with his MS losing power, he'd perish. The Strike Freedom, following Kira's specs is mostly geared to being able to gun down enemies from a safe distance while having enough mobility and thruster output to help Kira maintain a safe distance but retains two beam sabers if the MS needs to fight right up in the enemy's face. In the end, speed means nothing here for Shinn in Seed Destiny. He can abuse the WoL all he wants but if he fights too aggressively without thinking, all he's doing is draining more power from the Destiny than he needs to be doing. Arguably, while this would be Shinn's advantage against Kira for a Destiny vs. Strike Freedom match and be his best advantage in non-space battlegrounds, all Kira needs to do to win is survive and not let Shinn overwhelm him completely as all he has to do is stall the Destiny until the WoL drain enough power from the MS to render it unable to defend itself from the Strike Freedom. Kira would win the battle of attrition by fighting carefully and conserving the Strike Freedom's power supply. It's even worse when Shinn tries to fight the same way against Athrun who's far better in melee than Kira is.

The last time when shin and kira fought with each other, is not really that you can call a head to head battle. Because at that time Kira is not able to concentrate with his opponent trying to protect archangel and at the same time fighting with shin and the fact that shin before made it into the battle, he studied Kira movements and able to find it's weakness.. and Rey took advantage of KIRA's not aiming for his opponent's cockpits because kira never have intention to kill whoever his opponent is except if it is really needed just like what happened to stella

Take a look at Destiny's left arm, the shield is gone because it can limit the articulation for this pose so they remove it, and then 13:38 BAM, the shield is there

Side effect them making Vestige the opening apparently is that it's no longer used as an insert song anymore. Strike Freedom's flying into the atmosphere with the Vestige guitar riff was badass.
Disappointing that they didn't at least have Cagalli go Seed mode. Sure, it's not quite the same level Seed mode by Coordinators, but with it she could have been a decent foe for Shinn. She still wouldn't win, but better than just being stomped the entire fight.
At least it should be like that. Shinn from episode 1 looked down on Cagalli. If he lost, he would at least have Shinn's respect.
