Przedstawiamy reballiing układu RSX w konsoli Playstation 3 (PS3).

that is just great ... I'm speechless, the hands of this guy are so stable i didn't think such a repair is possible without a very expensive and specialized tools and workshop, thank you for sharing
I have no idea how this popped up on my feed...
But that was amazing.
I love a skilled craftsman.👍
i dont know why i'm seeing this.
@PaPiRiCoSuAvE cool essay
@PaPiRiCoSuAvE Ain't nobody got time to read all that

You're a Master , you are really a professional , if you teach then your students are the most lucky ones to have a master like you , you did every single touch so well as if it is the work of a computerised machine , and you respect the chip and protect it from the electrostatic charges , I thank you very much , I wish I was in your country to be your student , May God bless you and your teachers
He isnt a professional, the main problem isnt the solder balls itz the thermal paste under the heatspreader ON the cpu and rsx, it isnt the reball first they NEED to try if the thermalpaste is hard under the IHS of the chips, if it is he just put a new one on the die and also ontop as usual, No fuckin reball needed, but f this dosent work then reball but if he is reballing the chip without taking a look under the IHS then if it is broken he can reball 5 times in a row and the ps3 will still kick its bucket, and thats professional not thoes reball dudes here but they seem not to get what the REAL problem is, its the Thermal Compound under the IHS peace!
Fucking hell alterchen, what a beautifully written piecechen on the problemchen. I can tell you're a gentlemenchen and a scholarchen.
C7TJFVB7-CAZ TyonorShap GER & ENG ...if this solder whisperer can do this then I'm sure he checked everything under the sun. Maybe your just jealous of this cat's talent
@@C7TJFVB7CAZ_TyonorShap turned out it was the capacitors causing an issue rather then the chip it self
@@C7TJFVB7CAZ_TyonorShap
You’re wrong as well brother, the real problem is (90% of the times) the RSX knocking on deaths door, Nvidia ordered a lot of those faulty chips from TSMC, the CECH-20xx models also shipped with the ever unreliable 65nm version of the RSX, the only reliable versions of that chip is the 40nm and 28nm, in conclusion, applying new thermal paste will mitigate the thermal throttling, but it’s definitely not a solution, and reballing is useless most of the time
Outstanding workmanship. My PS3 has just RLOD'd today, after owning it for over 10 years. :(
Profesionalnie wykonane :) nidlugo zawioze do was moja konsole z YLOD
I've always wondered how reballing works. Thanks for sharing. May need to send you my 360 ;)
open and take apart Xbox 360 is difficult bi itself, i try it with no success (video with opening is there, but i do not handled it)
Very impressive vid, fascinating stuff! Always wondered what reballing really looked like!
Nice job, it's the first video (I've seen) on youtube without any sound takes near two million views!
Perfeito, que Trabalho maravilhoso

@@mjalil28 not really , you don't have to center it perfectly , later it will "move" to correct place :p
Polak potrafi. Pełen szacun.
Great job recording the steps clearly.Although I would prefer to have more details on what type of flux you're using, cleaning substance (isopropyl alcohol?), the fabric piece used for cleaning, the material of balls, and temps u used. If you mention those details, hat's up for you. Also where do you buy gpu/cpu patterns from ?
@@husky3g but how will I learn?! The master needs to teach me haha😎
Lol
Don't buy them, make you're own holes with a small drill, don't know what you will do for balls though..
No kurna,to jest dopiero dobrrra robota.
Sick, really sick work. Great Job.
How do you even know you have the chip lined up properly? That's just amazing! Mind blown!
Interesting. I've never seen something like this before. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing and perfect work. Great 👏👏👏👏
That was legitness
Ale się czepiasz! Znalazł sie profesjonalista.
This was awesome to watch. I had no idea how they actually did this.
Można by się pokusić o zalanie w nowej płycie szczeliny pomiędzy płytą a obudową BGA w celu uszczelnienia i zapobieżenia utlenianiu.
This video was worth my subscription to your channel amazing stuff!
One of the most gangster things I have ever seen in my life.
you say it bro!
That's a fucking PRO
No shit....I couldn't do this....putting on thermal paste was as hard as getting a new high score in minesweeper for me
no he aint, cuz this aint fixes it, every Pc enthusiast like me does know how to, basicly CPU deledd ;)
Heres some vidz that push your knowlege a bit cuz u need it ;)

Way to go!!! Very informative
Super impressed! Excellent job!
great... finally i can do it, thanks for the lesson
This was a really good video, i had wanted to see this done on a professional level. I had just one question though:
How do you ensure that the chip is properly lined up on the motherboard before soldering the GPU back on?
6 years later here's your answer: It's black magic sorcery.
Only fortune
8:25 He perfectly aligned it with those metallic bumps on the motherboard found right under the tips of the RSX's corners!
Sorry I couldn't have pointed this out years earlier, but just in case a PlayStation 3 you have is still having issues, I'm happy to help!
Good job bro very professional work 👏
i dont have ps3 .but this video is so relaxing amazing job bro .
AMAZINGLY SIMPLE. If one has the tools. Thx guys great video
Watching this is so satisfying.
Thanks for the info. I always wondered how to resolder a chip like this (FPGA next)!
You are an ARTIST, my friend :) Cheers!
You definitely deserve more subscribers
Zwyczajnie ;) Kwestia doświadczenia i sprawnego oka.
Amazing! :o
Professionnel . Bravo
Great video ,thanks for sharing this.
This was so satisfying to watch! Thank you
Strange both Sony and Microsoft used crappy solder in their hardware.
that's what you do when you're producing for money and not quality and in MS' case paying for the repairs downline
Good Job!! It helps me a lot.
Damn, that was like a surgery. Almost literally taking the heart out, and stitching it back together so there are no leakages lol.
Very nicely done! :) - Only thing I would mention, is that during my time fixing these at creativeIT, I discovered that the thermal paste between the IC and the IHS de-natures from the heat of a reflow or re-ball, removing the IHS and replacing the paste makes the PS3 whisper quiet, even when playing demanding games.. Side note: Don't remove the IHS prior to reflow/reball, the cell will survive the heat but the RSX may die.. The IHS helps absorb some of the heat and helps keep the chip ridgid.. :D
only to find out that the capacitors are the issue... in the first place
Nope, especially not when the video was recorded at more then a decade ago. Nec/Tokins problem is real, but was debunket a few years ago. They have problems, yes, but the main problem is the RSX.@@punker4Real
Thank you ExpressITpl , i have a question!
When you clean the board and the GPU from old tin, do you stilll leave the motherboard on the pre heater or not?
perfect !
you sir are totally correct... i hope that everyone could watch this video so they know how bad are the "home made cheap" repairs...
Incredible. Just incredible.
Thats how it should be done nice video
UTTERLY IMPRESSIVE!!!!
So much thanks for this videos, its so help full for me
Excellant. Travail. Bravo
Wow! Huge respect! Nice video. What IR welding station is it?
very satisfying xD
Thanks for the video, you are truly masterful! This is not an easy repair :)
It's not a repair
Perfect reballing method!
that was awesome!!!
7:06 wow with the heat they start to line up, it's hypnotizing
So satisfying to watch holy crap!
very satisfying to watch
Very nice work!
A little bit too late, but amazing job, well done!
Excellent job sir...
Bravo-Profesinal!!!!
nice solder wick...looks like hollow braid...have never seen hollow braid before ..Also, to those using braid for first time...make sure its fresh and not oxidized.
Perfectly executed.
Great how-to! But maybe be careful about solder smokes, even with rosin dipped ones
you make it look so easy that I wanna try it
I bought it in polish shop RENEX. It's iron for PACE soldering station with TD-100 stick. Catalog number: PC11240536.

Where do you get the stencil and heating table for this? I solder for a living but have never used anything like those
Reballing done but faulty NEC/TOKIN capacitors left intact. In 2012 you might not know that, but nowadays you should always check and replace those first as they are the main reason for YLOD on all the phat (CECH A to Q) and the very first Slims (CECH 2000 and 2100).
Good afternoon
I realized that you use an Achi IR6000, would you like to know which profiles you use for removing the gpu and for soldering?
good video can you tell me the name of the tip that you use to clean or sweep the weld that looks like a clean glass?
God I wish I could do this. But I think it's better I just try and get a PS3 slim now instead. What a great guide dude.
once its at melting point thats all you need. If done correctly it will resolder to the board and that will be that.
You will know as the chip will settle slightly lower, and that will be that!.
Keeping things perfectly still is very important so nothing short circuits. pressure must be constant and free hand is not advisable. (making up a jig makes things easier)
Beautiful!
you are a doctor of electronic games
Awesome vid. I also reball and was wondering what hind of pliers were those you used to pull the RSX off @ 1:00
How did you remove the stencil mask from the chip without moving the balls?

I personally just change BGAs with a new one by hand using certain tools for reflowing.@@elofos0815
What machine do you use
I use one of these(www.leister.com/en/plastic-welding/products/hot-air-hand-tools/hot-jet/hot-jet-s) for reflowing. Works great on almost parts depending on how much copper the pcb has. Sometimes I use a pre-heater in conjunction with that.@@rogeralex4803
Impressive !! What kind of machine/materials did you used for doing such that thing ?
perfect! I have now been inspired to blow up my defunct ps3 with a shotgun and buy a slim! Great video on what I will never attempt!
great yet another lost ps3 fat a- - sorry that my thing lol
Don't bother. It's not the reballing but the reheating of the CPU that fixes it. Just heat it at 125 degr for 10 miniutes will have the same effect. It's not the connection to the board but the waver to the pins that's the problem.
@@sticky170 ROHS complient solder requires higher and higher temps to reflow each time you do that. It should be replaced with leaded solder in accordance with US Air Force Policies to insure substainment.
@@tillmanadkins713 you're missing my point. It is not the reflow oud the cpu contracts to the motherboard that fixes the problem. It's a cheap cpu and reheating the cpu temporarily fixes the internals. But ends up breaking again as it is a shitty quality to begin with.
@@sticky170 Usually, there isn't any problem with the IC itself. The 7th gen game consoles all relied heavily on ROHS solder. Guess what? All of the consoles in that generation have issues, despite having different BGA IC's. It's usually a cold joint under the chip, which heating sometimes does "fix", but only for a little while. It's still the old solder that caused the issue. Reflowing in this case is a temporary fix, and reballing (what's shown in the video, and suggested by Tillman Adkins) is to replace the leadless solder, and replace it with leaded solder. This will break ROHS compliance, but it will give better than new results.
Super, Grand, Fantastic.
Great soldering skills.
Really satisfying!
I can say this job is done by a perfect technician..great video..What was temperature of your iron when u were cleaning gpu chip and motherboard.? can we use rework station's frame instead of stiffen frame..
Hi,
What kind of heater do you use to remove the rsx ? And what about the temperature ?
Best regards.
Excelente vídeo. Saludosssss
Fascinante!
Im not sure if i can do that but im intrigued👍🏻
Excellent job. Good luck.
excellent! ! ! thank you for your sharing.
