thank you so much for your good tutorials :D Question though ^^ is it okay for all the drawings to be in symbol: graphic mode? of no, what are the cons if all the parts are in symbol:graphic mode? (im rigging a character preparing it to be animated) (expect me to post this comment again in another video ^^ i really need to know the answer T_T)
I'm wondering if you can help me with a question. Once I'm done rigging, I want to move my character, but it pivots on the small white diamond at the base of his neck. There are no pins, but I can only move the character's limbs, I can't move the entire character around.. Can you help me understand why?
Even after turning off the (auto set transformation) my bone tool is not able to add points in my mesh, and it is only allowing bone points to anchor point..
i can't find it (mt) or null object (magnet tracker) are not in my library after all the rigging so i had to replace them normal circles and turn down the opacity
Thanks so much, this is a great introduction to bone rigging. I like the way you leave in your mistakes and how to clean them up. That's got to be more helpful than just pretending it's perfect first time off.
Man, thank you! You saved my homework and I'm grateful for that, I'll share your videos with my classmates. I love how you explain all the stuff that I'm like "wait but why doesn't it do this for me" and in the same second you say "maybe for you it might not work because you have to turn this on" and that's incredibly helpful. I also appreciate u kept the part where you are looking for the pin. Thank you!
I wish you did not make your live streams so early I really wanna see it but it is 1 hour before I usually wake up. I guess I will still see it but I have to wake up a little earlier
fantastic!! Thank you!! by far the best tutorials I've found so far :D A question: Can you use "easy ease" with a rigged animation? or is it just for tweens - the movements of my rig look kinda...stocky O.O
Amazing tutorial for bone rigging! It's super easy to understand :) I love that you also explained the functions of important property settings. :) One question tho, is there a way where we can convert an animation for this kind of rig into a template? if let's say, i want to re-use an animation for a crowd with the same rig structure.
You can export your character as an asset by going to File -> Export -> Export Scene as Asset. Once there, you can then export and save. Then you can open up any new animation file and you should be able to see it in your asset tab.
I see when you click a place to put your first bone in it adds in the armature layer. Why is it when I put my first bone in it overwrites the layer I have for the torso and now it is armature? Thank you for the video.
Hey ! Great tutorial. I just have a problem, when I do the rigg for the head, then the head is in the front (my eyes are in a different layer so we don't see them when the head is in the front for instance) and even if I press control shift down the head is still in the front :( Any idea? Thanks

I rigged my character after watching your tutorial. However im puzzled as to what is wrong that my character. it is in squatting position and im unble to make it stand up. Can you help? Where can i send you animate file?
I'm trying to learn bone rigging for game development since my artist skills is shit, I'd like to make my own character ( a basic stick figure) to figure this out but I dont understand how you move the anchors. Also wheres the bone tool and what is this symbol mechanic and how you make a vector shape a symbol? Could you do a complete tutorial in one video so I don't have to watch a whole series...drawing a simple 2 minute snake for instance and rigging it up with simple animation. Edit: Nvm I just realised I'm using illustrator...like I said this arts is new to me lol ik only programming
i am not able to use. i have turned my parts of the character to symbols, but somehow after adding bone tool , some of the layers just disappear! why??
that's great but how to do the first steps ... I`ve drawn my character on photoshop then moved it to Animate but I don`t know how to separate the body parts to save them as different symbols
Loved the tutorial, but I need to ask: in what aspects is this more advantageous than using a character rigging plugin (like Duik or Rubberhose) in After Effects?
I pretty much cover that at the beginning of the tutorial. I drew each shape, and converted it to a symbol. I'm not sure what else I could put in the tutorial. What exactly are you after, maybe I've already made a video on it?
Oh nice!! I have to check and see if you have one for 4 legged animals as it seems like a very complicated process so I'm a bit intimidated yet excited to learn it.
Thanks man This video really helped me By the way is it possible to ease in and ease out the bone's movements at the same time? I tried to do that but I could apply only one of them for each movement
My character is not incredibly complex but I want them to also turn around and show them from different angles ... would you still recommend using the bone tool and just make lots of different symbols and layers for each side or would you recommend to draw it by hand?
Hey man, just found your channel today and I just want to say thanks, your videos have been incredibly helpful, and not incredibly boring. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
I think to save time it would be a great idea to perfectly rig one character and keep duplicating the skin (duplicate symbol) for different characters thus keeping all the bones in place.
Hello there ! Great stuff =) My English is not perfect but I have a question : I think one of the last update give the possibility to save movements of the rig (for example a walkcycle) and apply it automatically to a character when you need it. Do you know if it is possible to make a database of poses / cycles and reuse them for different characters (assuming that these characters have a roughly equivalent shape) ? Thanks a lot !
Good video, this comment is for the bone tools itself. Animating with the bone tools in animate is just terrible. First off there is no IK, second which is the most important is that all movement is controlled on one layer, as an animator you want to be able to adjust different parts of the body at different speeds otherwise your animation will just look bad as all the timing of the limbs will be the same. Better to just use the layer parents.
you should make how to save a rig, I've heard that there was a new update that you can just drag and drop a pre-made rig to the graphics and all you need to do is to keyframe the movements. I think it saves a lot of time especially for those templated projects
@@TipTutyow, first of all, you may not know me I'm your random youtube student and thank you for making such great tutorials it helps me a lot to be educated with adobe an. now to respond to your reply which is very accomodating of you, I can't, I try dragging it but nothing is happening I think the problem here is the software itself
Hello, thank you very much for the video! I have a problem, I can't move the central bone, which belongs to the center of the body, therefore I can't make my character jump or crouch. Do you know why? Thank you!!
Hey man, I dont care is this is an Old video, I LOVE YOU! I was asking to myseflt what in the hell I did decide to study animation but this is GOLD!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Is there a way to change a symbol while also using the bone tool. Example, if I have a character rigged, and I move the arm from one pose to another and at the end pose I want change the hand symbol from relaxed to a fist, it won't let me. When you rig a character, what you rig on stage is essentially all you can work with?
After I rig the character, can I save it as a symbol or something. Then re-use the same rigged character in Any scene? Sorry I am new so don’t know how else to say it haha-thanks
I’ve noticed that when you turn off joint rotation for the arm, you can no longer rotate the torso. Is there a way to turn off joint rotation for the arm socket, but still be able to rotate the torso? Actually, literally 5 seconds after writing this comment, I realized that to fix the problem, you can constrain the rotation for the torso. This solves the problem, however, I feel that you shouldn’t have to constrain that join to make this work.
I realized that layer parenting is much better than the messy half baked armature tool. Though bone has IK, you can do the same in FK with layer parenting. Bone armature puts all symbols in one layer making it difficult to revisit key frames of individual symbols. Moreover, the translate constrain is kinda broken.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You explained everything which made it so much easier to understand. I did not now this was possible in adobe animate, so again thank you! And if you havent already done it, I would love to see the magnet tool tutorial also :D
