As a stage technician who has paused my career because of COVID, this has brought me to tears. I miss being in the darkness having voices crash and wash over me. This lament also brings hope, that we can return to the stage. Hope that we can heal ourselves and the planet that we live upon. Thank all of you who gave this to me.

Obviously, this is a COVID-19 distance performance. Which can not be fully live in the sense of “everybody is performing at the same time, without any prerecorded guidance track” as far as I understand current video streaming technology - which will, over the internet, always induce an amount of latency to long to really play/sing live in sync. Yet still, it looks very much like every person is recorded while singing; so the video images are those of people (including Annie) singing live.

I love this song by Henry Purcell, magically performed by Annie Lennox (my secret love) and so many London residents (my secret hometown) in the times of the pandemic. He is also to be played at my funeral. I thank God, Pucell and Annie for this work! There is no more precise way to sum up the end of his life!

It is surely a testament to both the genius and emotive musicality of Purcell and the interpretative/performance skill of ms lennox that this baroque aria sounds so beautiful and striking in such an alternative style to that for which it was written. This is incredible.

Fantastic backing vocals by London City Voices who all learned their parts and recorded themselves remotely. What a moving performance by a group of people who have dealt with unique loneliness of not being able to sing together. Can’t wait for those vaccinations and the opportunity to see the wonderful LCV performing live again 💕
My son was a chorister impacted by the pandemic. The technology used to record and blend all the voices remotely was in its infancy at that stage but used here also to create the choir using each voice. Timing and practicing that split second timing took some work but this is the pinnacle of that work. Annie has such a powerful and soulful voice, she is spectacular along with so many with London voices. Bravo!

I love Annie Lennox, so anything new from her is always a treat, but this is something different even for her. This video conveys that strange modern phenomena of isolation and coming together coexisting in the same space/time beautifully. What a work of art.

A lament for the planet but, given the times, poignant for the millions who've lost loved ones to covid. If there is a public Requiem for the lost once this pandemic is over, this rendition of Dido's Lament, sung with Annie's exquisite voice, would be perfect to include. I lost my father just before the virus to sepsis, an awful condition growing in prevalence, and he suffered greatly. Purcell's words are the universal last words all of us would wish to say to the loved ones we leave behind.

Stunning version and choral arrangement. I've always liked the piece, and liked Annie Lennox's singing, but never in a million years thought of the two together. Really enjoyed it - goosebumps and shivers down the spine at a couple of points. :-)

I have just listened to it for the umpty dozenth time after chatting to a friend who absolutely loves Dido's Lament. I'll be interested to see what she thinks of this adaptation of it.

I love Annie Lennox, so anything new from her is always a treat, but this is something different even for her. This video conveys that strange modern phenomena of isolation and coming together coexisting in the same space/time beautifully. What a work of art.

A lament for the planet but, given the times, poignant for the millions who've lost loved ones to covid. If there is a public Requiem for the lost once this pandemic is over, this rendition of Dido's Lament, sung with Annie's exquisite voice, would be perfect to include. I lost my father just before the virus to sepsis, an awful condition growing in prevalence, and he suffered greatly. Purcell's words are the universal last words all of us would wish to say to the loved ones we leave behind.
