This is a message from a mexican guy. If you want to come and live in México learn to speak spanish, get into mexican culture and talk with local people. Don't be like other arrogant americans that doesn't want to speak spanish and are rude with local people. And try to not gentrify.
How is work situation in Mexico city? We would very much appreciate some information. I am a nurse working in a hospital. I guess I could work anywhere. My friend is a therapist. Can he work as a therapist for psychology in Mexico city? Could you tell about healthcare system in Mexico? We think about one year work and travel in Mexico. We can't afford to save up and just travel. We need to work. Mexico is so amazing we started Spanish lessons recently.
I agree with rude and arrogant people that go to other places and are not respectful. However, as far as gentrification that is happening everywhere, even in the United States, which is why people are leaving to explore other countries for a better life the same way that people from Central, South America, even from Asian countries went to the United States for a better life. Anytime there’s a war or global conflict, or governmental issues there will always be immigration !Many of them stay in enclaves segregate with their own people, found it difficult to learn the language and trust me as an immigrant here to Mexico I often get shy and insecure about fitting in, especially with light hair, skin and eyes. I’m from Texas originally so it’s not as difficult to say someone from Canada or northern USA However, I don’t live in Mexico City. It did start out living in Playa del Carmen for almost 2 years and grew very tired of being around other Expats and a tourist trap where I was always treated as a tourist although I have my legal residency here. That doesn’t bother me too much because it’s easy to make assumptions as you are doing here. I now live in Pachuca, 1 hour north of CDMX where I have lived for one happy year as a single lady and I have not met one other American or Canadian. I love it and although I will probably never fit in no matter how great my Spanish gets, my neighbors and the people in the town have grown to recognize me support me in my decision to be here and are very kind. On that note, I do make an effort to practice my Spanish every day and I’m just in love with the way of life here. I went back to the USA in January to visit friends and was gone for three miserable weeks. Everyone seems so sad stressed out angry. It’s not colorful. It just seemed so gray and nothing but fast food places and shopping malls. The only major culture is football. I could not wait to get back to my home here in Pachuca. I would be so sad if I ever had to move back to USA.
@@doroparker1702 if you work and have experience being a nurse or therapist i think you easily get a job here. About healtcare system, if we talk about public system, sometimes it can be very weak and doesn't help much, so people who can do it better pay private medical centers.
I would also not take it personally if someone can’t speak Spanish. It takes a lot of time to learn a new language, especially when you’re older and have multiple freelance jobs and hardly any time. I know it’s difficult for me. I’m just shy to speak Spanish bc I think I sound stupid. Sometimes people are shy and the easiest way to get over that is to ignore people. I would not take it personally at all. Americans all wish they could speak Spanish. They’re mostly just embarrassed that they can’t and as a result they may come across as rude but that is not the intent.
There's a lot to unpack here. Gentrification is happening all over the world due to investors. Those are the ones that buy up real estate and then raise prices. And there are so many Mexicans in the US that don't learn English that it's a bit hypocritical to ask others to learn Spanish. I agree that you should learn Spanish, but learning a language is not as easy as you think
LOL! How a person can try to compare Mexico and Thailand? COMPLETELY OPPOSITE DIFFERENT cultures !!! I lived in both of them for more than 1 year, i like both, but it's impossible and non-sense to compare eachother.
I would love to go to Mexico and Brazil, but i hear a lot about safety concerns. I know you said you feel safe there, but what about all the reports of robberies and the Cartels? The government corruption and that in there police force. I have talked with people who have vacationed there that say be careful with taxis, with walking out at night, and possibly getting lots on certain neighborhoods. Are you sure its as safe as you think? Im really curious because those would be great places to go.

Ramon, the distiction between *immigrant and *expat/digital nomad maybe: "immigrants" flee their land for opportunity and to make income from the country they go to. Often, they cannot return to their home country, such as Chinese attempting to immigrate into the U.S. through Mexico. Often, China will not accept them return of the U.S. does not grant them a visa. "Expats or digital nomads" leave their home country for "quality of life" or a unique experience that they cannot find in their country, but they can return anytime. They do not rely or need the new country for income. A form of extended tourism. The latter is the case for me.
@@PhilipJames360 yes, but the thing is, you come here because with your salary (or pension) in your country, you would be homeless or barely living on the minimum, while here you can live it up, making everything more expensive for Mexicans and displacing them.

Thailand is better, please everyone go to Thailand, no more retirees in México.😁
Im really curious because those would be great places to go.
no comes carne - good call bro
Condesa, Roma, Polanco isn't Mexico is a US, CANADIAN, etc, spot, people that can afford to live there, and have spoiled the place.

Immigrant life*
Ramon, the distiction between *immigrant and *expat/digital nomad maybe: "immigrants" flee their land for opportunity and to make income from the country they go to.
Love CDMX but more dangerous and def much more expensive
Kristofer, I agree. And the safety of Thailand has become a big reason to call it 'home' for me. It is nice to not have to worry about crime or random violence like we see in the U.S. and varying degrees in LATAM
😂 Chicago new York California exe exe more dangerous than mexico city
Ciudad de México en general es seguro, hay zonas inseguras como todo el mundo.

Condesa is not the most elegant nor trendy neighborhood in Mexico City!
These foreign people, only showing the nice parts of the city like roma, condesa and Polanco, the most gentrified neighbourhoods of all the country. But they never set foot outside those neighbourhoods 😹😹, because of course, insecurity is more present. You don't seem to be showing the real side of Mexico City... Like Iztapalapa, and others...
And of course, Mexico State (Estado de México) is the most forgotten part by foreigners, literally it amazes me how there is literally NO FOREIGNERS here, because Estado de México is indeed, the place you get to see in news, very dangerous at any hour, with horrific traffic, horrific public transport, horrific arquitecture and urbanization. But ofc, you wont be going to ugly places don't you?. Just wanted to tell you that this city has a huge breach of inequality

Are you getting gentrified?
@@peanutnukle I think so🤔 but this is not the problem, the problem is that some retirees do not like the Mexican culture because we are very noisy, we party celebrating everything, and we really like loud music. I think some Mexican places are not for them due to this.
