Jonny: The 10 WORST skateboard tricks
Jonnny introducing every trick: dis trick is AWSUM. I LAHV doing dis trick so mahch.
This is the second time he’s done this, but I’m pretty sure it was over a year ago so I’m not mad. 😆
@@DFunct905 second time but changed all the tricks 🤙🏼
the majority of skaters hate them but i LAHV most of em. Beside triple flips, tripple flips defenitely don‘t feel AWSUM ❤️
@@JonnyGiger agreed, triple flips look ugly.
i love making fun of people’s accents
Low effort airwalk look bad. But when you fully extend the front leg and kick the back leg up like rodney does. They look amazing.
Oh that’s why I think very few look cool
@@Uhhhhiwantpancakes done people like it and some people dont 🤷♂️
Rodney makes them high and stylish af. You are right.
Andy Andersons aren't bad, you're definitely right though thr extra leg work makes all the difference
There are people that hate on backside boardslides? You might as well hate on the ollie folks.
how else to boardslide? doesn't it become a lipslide otehrwise?
@@00flydragon00Lipslide is when the backtruck goes over the rail first. So you can do both FS/BS Lipslide and FS/BS Boardslide
I agree back boards are lame.
Idk, back boards feel pretty good when doing them but they aren't anything special. Unless you back board a 10 foot or longer rail, then they become alright hahah
Genuine question, why is it called backside? Isn't he facing the front?
This is kind of off topic but I really feel like I have to mention how much I love the skateboarding community. It is the only community that I know of that truly support everyone and encourage them to learn and perform new difficult tricks.
I mean seriously, when you go out to the park even complete strangers cheer you on. They respect you and encourage you to keep going and I think that’s why the community has stayed so strong over the years. Most people I have seen will give you space to do tricks; try not to hog the whole park. They give everyone their turns.
Kinda like the Bodybuilding community
@@magnusmaersk8219 LOL
Anyone I'm skating with is a homie and as one of the older guys at the park these days I love seeing the young guys progress, I get them hyped which gets me hyped. Skating is the best.
Well, lf you think about it, most people that skate are doing positive things with there life like school or work. Their are a few weirdos lurking around but they never last.
@@magnusmaersk8219 Yeeeaah!! 😜👍
"Don't let someone tell you what to do on your skateboard. I'm a good example for that, I landed all the tricks on this list."
Best skate channel 10/10
I feel like I'll break my knees doing that crossfoot heelflip
Do a 6 worst tricks for your board! Like darkslides and stuff..
That is a great video idea !
i like this
hey Giger, look here ^^^
Yeah and primo slides, and freestyle tricks lol
@@isak8059 freestyle skateboarding is bad for your bones.
Something about good no comply variations puts me in a trance to watch, especially when putting it as a little flourish to a rapid flatground chain, super fun!
I love watching no complys keep innovating them plzzz!!!
Ray Barbee
Who says airwalks are crap? One of my favorites! So beautiful
In 1989 it was one of the best things I could do. Along with no-complys and varial flips.
I still think fakie varial flips look good, especially if you start with your board backwards.
I want to learn that one
When Jonny Giger does a trick, there's no way it'll look bad 😁
I just do not get it. I love doing and also watching varial flips. More than tre flips actually
Fs 180 varials look so good
Me too
Varial flips fucking lit
woooa idk ab more than tre flips but theyre nice yes
burn
Hey Jonny you've inspired me to learn more tricks, love these content you put out
yes that‘s what i love to hear ❤️🙏🏼 thanks for watching the vids 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Haters can hate but airwalks are iconic!
Man, I remember back 15+ years ago doing body varial kick flips. always got people out on that trick. Not sure if I even knew anyone that did them. hell don't remember seeing pros doing it either back then.
I love airwalks and no comply's - but I also skated back in the days of Animal Chin and H Street.
Same here. Been skating since 86 and both of those are still regulars in my trick inventory. Hitting a big kicked-out airwalk out of a bank or transition is just damn satisfying. As for no complies I'm not a huge fan of the basic 180 no comply (kinda regard it as a basic set up trick), but they're great with just a little variation thrown in (shuv, pivot, rewind). Ray Barbee's part in Public Domain (IMO) is still unmatched as the perfect example of how to make no complies look really good (of course it helps a lot if you have that dude's effortless style).
@@Dystopia1111 So many variations of the no comply. I was always a fan of the impossible one, but even the basic one can look good if you get elevation and stick it high.
And as for airwalks.. I always found people that rag on them are the ones that can't do it with style.. :P
@@Gainn True, no comply impossibles can look really good. The basic straight-on no complies can look really good too. Saw a friend no comply right over a traffic barrier and land it clean (1st freaking try no less), was one of the most jaw-droppingly awesome things I've seen in a while. No idea how he powered up 3 feet of weirdly-contoured barrier, boosted up over it, and got his front foot back on. Freaking sorcery.
That golden/green model of yours (in the video its on your wall on the most left) looks sooo good, i would love to buy one, unfortunately i couldnt find it in the stores :(
Love your videos, i always watch and like them :)
another phenomenal video! keep it up!
the image quality took a huge jump!! Man, interview shot looks so good!
I love your vids man you rock
It's the first time that I see the Plasma Spin. I have always wondered if it was possible to do (I haven't skated for years but sometimes I think about tricks when daydreaming, visualizing the process, and strangely it's what comes to my mind) so thank you ! (I love it btw)
When you watch a Jonny giger video don’t just watch it you also like subscribe :) Great Video 🙏
thank you! 🙏🏼❤️
@@JonnyGiger You’re welcome :)
@@JonnyGiger What brand of skate pads do you use?
Great video jonny! Radrat has really good plasma spins,he does them almost like an ollie late plasma spin, which is insane. Btw did you watch ryan decenzo's new part?
luv the vids jonny
Very nice video jonny
You are the only person on youtube I watch videos with 'x worst/best things' titles.
Super video bro . Bester skateboard kanal 😀✋
I filmed a few varial flip body varials today, lol. I love that trick. It feels really nice to do them.
yea if you land it, kind of strange fun feeling.. like what the hek..
i restarted to ride again to weeks ago after almost 20 years and i remenber that some of my best tricks i did it before i left are varial flip body varial and hardflip body varial and i was really happy doing it.
Ooof. This felt like a personal attack, thats my trick portfolio in a nutshell 😁. Keep up the killer content.
I love varial kickflips
Same
Definitely dig that varial flip body varial...looks sick
Yeah there cool. I mean I think I like tre flips more but I still like varial flips.
Same. I actually think nollie flops are worse
me too!!! i don't get wy everybody hates them
kinda like the varial too - always have ! Great vid as per :)
I love how Jonny is talking “this is trick is so hated” and then does it perfectly and I’m like “how-, why-, what kind of magical creature is this man-“
Then says he loves them
Hats off to you man these tricks would drive me crazy trynna land
Hi coll video, where is the skate park? I maybe go to Switzerland soon, and I really like the parks your go-to in your videos. Do you have any suggestions for skate parks in Switzerland
Most of these tricks are actually pretty cool 😎
That was good. Fun to watch
Jonny you make every trick look dope AF but I never understood the hate for varial flips lol
I agree on pressure heels. I used to do pressure kick flips flat though. There was no scoop, just hard pressure over rear wheel and it would flip level.
I think p-rod did something like that pretzel heel flip in the game of skate with Carlos Ribeiro but it’s like a kickflip using the medial side of the foot.
kf varials are the only ones that belong here (maybe also benihanas. plus mongo pushing). excellent channel, man.
I absolutely love the airwalk!!
Nolie Front side big spins use to be my jam when I skated good. I could do big spin every direction lol
Ive done a plasma flip since i was 15, didnt know what it was but my footing was different. still feels good.
and same goes as a triple flip, best i got was 3 in a row and the spinning is crazy XD
I can't even balance correctly but I'm watching this so seriously. Thx!
love doing fs willys on ledges and fs overwilly on rails, so man of my friends hate them so much, i get if you just fall out of the grind it looks pretty bad but if you get a little pop out it looks sick to me
Willie grind is my favorite tricks and when I saw it in the intro and started creating, you thought me how to do what I want when I'm skating and then betrayed me. Just kidding fire video
I strongly disagree with everyone who thinks ANY trick is ugly or whack! Skateboarding is meant to be the very definition of freedom. So you should be free to do everything you'd like on a board without being judged by wannabe- or (even worse) 'sport'-skaters. My personal all time favourite is Pop-Shove It Body Varial. Pop it really high and maybe fakie fs revert it and you got yourself a banger right there! So I agree with Johnny as he said: Don't let anyone tell you what to do and what not to! Period.
i was a meteocre skateboarder as a kid i remember how much i loved doing the nollie big flip as it was easy to me icould land it 3 out of 5 times , it looked pretty hard to do as a kid and not many others could do it that i knew of
Good to see Carlos on here. Love that guy.
Dude yeah I flipped out when I saw Carlos, super underrated skater
I'm surprised you didn't put the willy grind in the list, that back willy was actually pretty dope in the beginning
Agreed on that 1. To me willy grinds always look like a 50-50 where the back truck failed to connect, even when they're done right. Really hard to make those look good.
my favourites are, late inward heels, heelflip BV and a simple pop shuvit BV :D
Hello Jonny i like ur videos im from Russia and i subscribe to u 4-5 years ago and i learn many tricks by ur videos i love u and russia love u
Varial flips are so fun though. That’s one of those tricks I can pop and catch pretty high, and imo looks great when done like that.
Thats what I was going to say. They are typically way higher pop and catch.
Check out rad rats plasma spins, the look great. He sets his foot up like a pressure hard flip.
Is it weird that almost all of this tricks are in my favorites?
Every time I watch your videos I think of how Italian you are with your expressions and moves🤣
He's Swiss though lol
I did a pressure heel on accident like 7 years ago and thought it was so cool. Now I’m launching regular pressure flips out of the bank and think the pressure heel I did so long ago and was kinda wack.
You should do a video on the best tricks. You know tricks like Half cab flip and tre flip. Ones that look and feel really natural and clean.
Jonny is the best flatground skater in my opinion ! Giger would be a joy to skate with ...
Crook grinds look so dope when done right
Have a great day, NAMASTE.. Namaste is back
Dude a huge benihana is SICK
I freaking love your energy bro. Yea not stylish but it’s fun so do it if you want.
I once did so many crooked grinds one summer that the left roll fell off at some point.
In my recommended it showed a top ten worst skate tricks from a year ago, then I click on his channel and he has another one for his newest video
Such a steezy airwalk :0
I would definitely include these tricks:
No comply (as in no 180 no comply - with 180's, 360's and shovits, they are completely cool imo)
Boneless
Willy grind
Pogo
Old school kickflip
Indy grab
People hate triple and even double flips because you don't run your foot off the nose. You have to kick down to get a fast enough rotation, and most sk8ers aren't used to that
Personally hate crooked grinds when I skated every one I skated with could do them I could lock in and grind but never ever could manage to land and roll away even off the end of a ledge where as I could bs and fs nose grind. It was if I was always to far forward and learning over the board to much doing crooked. I’ve not skated for about 10 years but did skate for about 12 and I can remember the rage from trying this trick and failing.... failed for about 12years 🤦♂️🙈🤯
Love the fart sound after the pressure heelflip
varial flip is great, but the muscle memory of tre flip makes it hard to do both properly
Subbed for the airwalks
“Almost impossible to catch” CRAZY hearing someone so good saying that about the triple flip. My friend who I got back into skating with can pop them consistently and cleanly and we’re still learning the basics. He can just crack out triple flips for some reason haha and he still kicks out the front like a regular kickflip unlike on the side like you.
Has a doubleFOOT kick flip or heel ever been done. like idk if itd have to be a late flip? But flicking with both feet? Seems gnar
Seems “gnar” lmaoooo
Smh
I took a 15 yr sabbatical from skating, been back for about 18 months because my 9 year old expressed an interest. Just got the hang of consistently landing bs boards and varial flips again, glad to hear that both are now considered lame lol.
I love proper no comply tricks. Imo no comply laser/big spin heelflips and no comply back 3s are some of the dopest looking tricks.
Also idk what it's called, but the no comply flip where u hit the tail on a curb or something to make it flip is sick. Ofc what anyone says.
Video was so fun.
All of these tricks are great
Honestly I don't know how u don't already have a few million subs
Jonny's varial kickflips look better than 99% of the tres
I'm learning nollie big spin its really hard to jump and land on your switch side.
Don't let anyone tell you what to do on your skateboard... YES!!!
We need you in BATB again
Also Jamie Griffin and Jylan Jaeb
I hope they put you in there
You're good af
I'm definitely gonna learn that pretzel heel, specifically to use in a game of skate. (already got pressure heel on lock). 😈😂
hahahaha 😂😂😂❤️🙏🏼
fakie fs bigspin one of the best feeling tricks i ever did. and id never stop doing em
Thanks buddy namaste
People don't like Varials because once they start learning how to 3 flip or Lazer they usually struggle with the varials. Personally varials are some of my best looking tricks.
Don't you hate on one of my favs: Varial Kickflips of all sort. Just love them
What about Nollie Pressure Flip? Has been around for one year after invented and rapidly forgotten, unless performed "Rodney Style" looks an awkward trick to me
I have a triple flip in my recent edit that used to be my trick back when I was in my prime 15 years ago that I level out but it is a very hard trick to catch. I used to be able to catch them leveled out but now I catch it inches from the ground and I don’t do them often because my 34 year old legs aren’t what they once were lol one of the hardest tricks to make look good I will admit but not impossible 😎 I am going to post my edit soon on UA-cam and I’ll someone get the link to you so you can rate my flat ground triple flip that’s in it. I hope you rate it decently ✊🏽💪🏽 love the videos as always. Keep being you, you and Johnny hill were the reason I picked my board back up after 13 years and started trying to put together an edit that I always wanted to do when I was actually good. Thanks for the inspiration my friend 🙏🏽 🛹🤟🏽💪🏽🤙🏽🤘🏽
the pop shuv body varial me and a friend nicknamed it a lil spin cuz it’s almost like a big spin
lol Why is it like every trick I was obsessed with when I started skating xD
Jonny gotta do more air walk finger flip variations after
@ZachDoeling did a backside tripple flip on a street ditch/hip for a video part and it was honestly clean af and he made it look good
Please try Bigspin late Tre that's always been a dream trick of mine and it seems to go against physics completely
Awesome ✌
My dude can land a triple kickflip on flat. Jonny is a goddamn madman.
10. Super cool
9. Super cool (I think rocket looks fine)
8. Amazing looking (agree with doing what you want)
7. Cool
6. Cool
5. Super cool
4. They're fine
3. Fine
2. Crooked Grinds are cool, but I agree with you.
1. I agree, the cross foot is just awkward.
A pretzel heelflip??? How the funk did you land this...did you just make this trick up?? Love yo vids. Good job mane' '''
I all enjoy those more than tray flips
