I’m actually in touch with Danny Parker, the sound mixer of Sins and singer of Mona Lisa Overdrive/A2. “All of Me” was never intended to be used in Shadow at all. It was written by Sins singer Wylie Biechler about legal troubles he was having at the time. Hope this info helps! P.S. Mona Lisa Overdrive is on track to return to making music in 2025 according to Danny.
Something I found before watching this video that I can provide is the fact that for the band description for Sins of a Divine Mother on Spotify, it explicitly mentions that "Broken" along with "All of Me" were intended to be used for Shadow the Hedgehog. The description explains that the songs were pulled due to SEGA not gaining permission from one of the band members to have either song included. Assuming their songs were added to Spotify officially, I guess this would confirm that "All of Me" was intended to be included in the game but wasn't included for whatever reason. In my opinion, I can see potential in the song being related to the game given the lyrics talking about ideas being "inside my head," and particularly the lyrics: How does it feel bein' innocent And gettin' treated like you did a big crime With the policemen and the government Gunning for you all the time Which could make reference to the G.U.N. Commander and G.U.N. targeting Shadow despite the fact that he does not remember his past which would be confusing to him personally as he has no memory of the Commander or the events of Sonic Adventure 2 where Shadow antagonized G.U.N. and so on. Then, of course, is the name of the song and chorus being very similar to "I Am All of Me," which is likely what primarily sparked the rumor. I'm unsure how much validity there is to the Spotify description but I think it's the closest we have to any kind of "official" answer. On a final note, despite "All of Me" containing more explicit profanity than what was included in Shadow the Hedgehog, I'm still willing to bet that maybe "All of Me" was an early main theme for the game. Earlier on in development, Shadow the Hedgehog was going to be rated "M" and was going to include an explicit cutscene of Maria being shot which we can see in pre-release footage (as well as the final game, sort of, it's only a screenshot of the cutscene in the form of a memory for Shadow), and there were also blood graphics too. Early English voice recordings of Shadow the Hedgehog also seemed to have Shadow and other characters dropping very explicit profanity, as confirmed by Jason Griffith in an interview. Given how there WAS a Sins of a Divine Mother track in a beta of Shadow the Hedgehog at least shows that the band's songs were meant to be included, which may have included "All of Me" given how I think it was released in 2005 and before Shadow the Hedgehog was released, but until more concrete information is shared or a beta including the song is found then we'll probably never know for sure. If true, the song was probably changed during development either because they wanted the main theme to be done by a band that had been associated a lot with Sonic at this point in time or "All of Me" wasn't the kind of song they wanted for the main theme, given how "All of Me" is slower and not as high energy as "I Am All of Me," which is more comparable to songs such as "What I'm Made of" and "Live and Learn."
13:29 Counterpoint: Vandalize by ONE OK ROCK. Originally, the song had the f bomb in it, but they changed it with the Sonic Frontiers version, so if All Of Me was intended to be in Shadow 05, they could've done the same thing with that song.
3:24 weirdly, I think Broken actually fits better to the ARK ending than Chosen One. Because while its tone is a lot more somber, the lyrics carry more of a melancholic feel, rather than a regretful one. Chosen One sounds like someone who is trying to do good, but ended up doing more harm, especially with lines like "Is this what I've become?" and "But I can't change the things I've done" In comparison, Broken sounds a lot more like someone stuck in their past, wishing they could spend more time with the ones they love. It's trying to rebuild what is lost, rather than failing to save the world. It's a lot more personal. It's especially clear with this line: "Couldn't walk away from something broken, Tried to find a way to make it good again" In the Hero Ending of the Semi-Hero path, Shadow believes that all he did was in vain, and that despite all his efforts to save the world, he has caused so much harm. It fits Chosen One's theme of regret... In comparison, the Dark Ending has Shadow become a protector of the ARK, clearly trying to desperately cling on to his past and, by trying to maintain it in an untouched state, relive a shadow of his past. That all just really fits the melancholic vibe of Broken, in my opinion. Both themes are clearly depressed, but they have very different motives, different concerns, different sources of that depression.
I do realize that's not at all what the video was about, but it stuck out to me because I'd been looking into choosing themes for the different endings of Shadow for an art project thing I was working on literally today, so I have feelings about this. XD
I think i know why "All of Me" is considered a Shadow song. -The game was T rating, with a lot more swearing, before the ESRB made the E10, which caused Sega to tone it down to match it, cutting the song - "All of Me" and "Broken", unlike the rest of 'Sins of a Divine Mother's' repertoire which were lost, have been online for years; earliest upload being 16 years ago (earliest use was for a Mortal Kombat GMV, and then Blackblur7 uploaded the song again about a year later)
Hats off to the cyberspace stages in Shadow the Hedgehog for being the only cyberspace themed stages in the franchise that actually sound like a cyberspace setting. Banger of a soundtrack, 10/10

I thought "Who I Am" didn't make the cut because Sega wanted the full rights to the song, but they (Magna-Fi) already intended that track to be part of VCKM so they wrote "All Hail Shadow" to be used instead I heard this from i think a podcast of people talking about VCKM? Also if anyone knows what Sins Of A Divine Mother/A2/Mona Lisa Overdrive is up to these days, if they're even still together/active, i would like to know
Do you have a link to the podcast or a source? I've heard this before but Mike Szuters comment on the non album version of the song kinda contradicts that.
funny enough all hail shadow got to be a final boss song in the end LOL (gonna add a ton of space in case people see it as spoiler) its the final boss fight theme in sonic x shadow generations
Who I Am was never gonna be on Shadow The Hedgehog. It didn't nearly make it or anything. Mike Szuter wrote the song for Shadow but Jun Senoue said he wanted to write a song with him. 8:27 not taking this Magna-Fi slander on main either Save Me is the standout 1000% 😔
I am a certified "Broken" enjoyer 🗿
Seriously bro that shits a banger🤣
I don't care how edgy it is, it's a cool song
@@IdiotMayCry Calling something edgy as a critique is overused imo. Just because something edgy doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Same.
It's so beautifully hollow and grim
