David Humphrey and Shadow’s Japanese voice actor Koji Yusa are the GOATs of Shadow! Keanu Reeves is gonna be fantastic in the movie and solo everyone that came after David, though. Jason and Ian are both great as well and tie in 3rd place, with Kirk in last (though Kirk has definitely improved in SxSG.)

So far I think I have to go with Kirk Thornton, pretty much my favorite VA for Shadow since I finished Shadow Generations and I pretty much grew up with him. Jason as Shadow is good in some titles ( like Shadow 05 and Sonic X) but I'm so used to him playing as Sonic. For David, it sounds a bit goofy but I guess you can't blame that because there weren't like very popular gaming VAs back in the early 2000s. Ian however is pretty interesting, I do like Sonic Prime and his voice is pretty good. And finally Keanu Reeves, dude...as a fan of John Wick, I can't wait to see his performance once Sonic 3 is out!

Now take a look at David Humphrey-HE was the most underrated Shadow voice. He gave Shadow the most emotion and paved the way for the next Shadow actors to take over, and yet ever since the SM3 trailer and Sonic X Shadow Generations, the amount of slander for his performance has gone up (not really on this video, but on other comparison videos,) while the Kirk slander has drastically decreased.
Actually, i think the Sonic X - Unleashed cast is overrated by so many of fans but that doesnt mean it's Bad or something,it's great,the voices fit with characters
I just love the nuance David has with his Shadow. Jason feels like a more matured Shadow. The others feel a bit flatter for me personally. Mostly because they are attempting to emulate Jason's impressions.
Kirk Thornton's initial performances weren't the best, but his performance in Shadow Generations feels closer to David Humphrey's performance, and it's grown on me quite a bit.
When I hear Kirk, I still can’t help but think of Don Patch or Kisame. I think of Shadow at times, but those times are less frequent. Though I don’t have as bad of a disassociation with his voice for Shadow as I do for Kathleen Delaney as Rouge.

I find it interesting to see that the fan favourite more often than not, is Jason. I've been on this website for a looong time, and people absolutely hated Jason's Shadow back in 2008 or so. We all thought he was way too edgy and angry. These days I personally don't have a fav, I can find things I like about all of them.

First just to say, I don't think anyone has done particularly bad in this role so far. Personally I think Jason's preforminces are by far the most enjoyable to me. I think Jason is just a fantastic voice talent and has shown time and again across several franchises his talent and skill. There are a number of individuals who are some of the most stand out animated voices from my youth and some how Jason managed to be several without me ever being able to hear his actual voice beneath the preformince. To me that is talent.

David was a starting point for the rest to work off of which he still did an amazing job for SA2 Jason was massive jump he made the Shadow we grew up with more impactful through voice Kirk has a very distinct tone which makes sound colder which is a good benefit to have for a character like Shadow Ian seemed more stern than cold or agressive like Kirk and Jason which worked for what he was doing in Prime (haven't watched season 3 yet don't quote me 100% on the role thing) Keanu oddly has a weird kinda mixture of Jason, Kirk and Ian, he has the cold tone if Kirk an odd sort of agression in his voice like Jason and a sternness like Ian. This is just my interpretation of it maybe the way I see it isn't the same for others but this is how I see it.

He was great in the role, but you should give some credit to where it’s due. David Humphrey, his predecessor, laid the foundations for what Shadow is supposed to sound like, and Jason tried to improve off of what he left off for him. They sound similar, but Jason has more gruff to his voice that captures Shadow’s stoicism in 06 and even in Black Knight.

David Humphrey is by far my favorite. Jason Griffith is pretty good, but definitely not my favorite. Kirk Thornton proved that he can be pretty good in Shadow Generations and Dark Beginnings. Ian Hanlin is just fine, and I don't like Keanu Reeves. Shadow's voices have declined with each one.

@ Sonic is 15 since 2006. He can’t be 15 forever. His voice actor even said Sonic isn’t a 15 year old anymore, and in Sonic Frontiers he was more mature. Sonic is a man and not a boy anymore. Sega should confirm it.

David Humphrey is by far my favorite. Jason Griffith is pretty good, but definitely not my favorite. Kirk Thornton proved that he can be pretty good in Shadow Generations and Dark Beginnings. Ian Hanlin is just fine, and I don't like Keanu Reeves. Shadow's voices have declined with each one.

They're all decent my favorite being Kirk Thornton now granted i wish he put more gusto into the more expressive lines that require a bit more bass but it's a flip flop sometimes it's a little flat and sometimes it's fine, something Jason Griffith does well but still it's fine I'm not gonna let a minor thing ruin his overall performance that'd be like hating a va for a character because of one mid line read out of a million other good ones and no one does that... "sub elitists seeing a dub clip"
