Wow, that's eye opening. I think that just knocked some of the complacency patina off my thinker. This scenario is exactly what I'm most afraid of, a thug with nothing to loose. The most dangerous kind of person is someone who has no regard for life. Complacency leaves the gun where that victim had left it, but no thanks I think I'll keep mine close!
I was a cop for 30 years, involved in three gunfights and the points made here are spot on. Practice as often, and as realistically as possible b/c safe & accurate gun handling is a perishable skill.

That action caused a lot of business loss for the owner. The now former employee was quickly hired by a different business solely o. The fact that she took action.
My job has a policy of no weapons however they tell me that I have to make deposit drops at night in my own vehicle on my own time so I carry my gun at work and I don't care what they say cuz they have me working off the clock so if they can do that then I can do this
Bet the answer will be along the lines that guns are scary, black and go BANG. Oh and only the police who will be there,AFTER YOUR SHOT can use them correctly.Yes I was an LEO,and as a Jew I see the scary line that would follow. TRAIN,and have TRAINED people that most likely will be there LONG before the police and stop the threat.

Convenience store clerk is THE most dangerous in America = as I see it.Working LONG shifts and totally unable to maintain situational awareness for that long a period, while actually trying to do your job.Gun on at all times = hell yes.If you are as stated, more than 2 seconds from your gun = your UNARMED.That goes for in your home ALL day,not just at night.
In a gun fight, things are happening fast and messy. I’ve been in a few scrapes that came close to shots being fired. Situational awareness of your immediate area is just as critical as having immediate access to your sidearm. I don’t care if I have to carry my 380 as an ankle gun, so be it.
Well that blows the anti's "Having a gun will only get you killed - Just give them what they want and they won't shoot you" argument out of the water. Those thugs came in blazing. How the hell do you get the mindset where you don't care about murdering a couple people for a hundred bucks at the most? It's crazy how cheap life is to these animals.
Note that the clerk with the gun was firing towards the other clerk who was crouched in the corner, too. It's sometimes hard to think about what is downrange when you are engaged.
I carry my small 5-round revolver almost all the time, attached to whatever belt I'm wearing (usually a stiff leather belt of about one and half inches wide). My main problem is sometimes going into buildings where a gun cannot be legally carried, without noticing a sign or possibly just forgetting that I have it on. The whole gun with 5 rounds in the gun plus 20 extra rounds in a small wooden piece made to hold them, plus the Bulldog belt pouch only weight a total of 1 pound! I am 80, a vet, and continually read USCCA magazines and watch the videos you send out.
Thank you for your service, Leon! It is our responsibility to know where we can legally carry but I can understand how you feel. Typically a business that does not allow firearms will have it posted outside the entrance but not every state has to force of law behind these signs. The best way to know if your state does would be to check this website: www.handgunlaw.us/
Amazing how fast the robbery takes place. Watch how the store clerk had to take time to fish for his gun. I can really see the importance of wearing the gun while working in such an environment or any environment for that matter! Good thing is the store clerks didn’t get shot or killed. Criminals don’t seem to practice with their guns, good!
JG Harts I’ve been robbed a total of 3 times, everything goes so fast but 1 second feels as a minute, so many thoughts go in your mind, and you think it’s been 5 minutes since it started, as long as you can keep calm, analyze the situation, know what’s going on, and follow up with the proper actions you should be good.
Here is my dilemma ,I work in Squirrel Hill just down the road from the big synagogue shooting that happened over the weekend. I work maintenance and security at a school a few blocks away, I am a 15 years CCW with training and my other two coworkers ,supervisor included are retired military guys. I feel so helpless not being able to carry on school grounds during student drop offs in the morning when I have to cover for someone else's morning shift. I typically work till 7:30 in the evening and I'm the last employee to leave the school and lock up. It sure would be nice to at least have a pocket pistol when I make my rounds in the evening outside the building. Thank you USCCA.
Talk about dumb luck. No gun at the start, lousy choice of cover and un-aimed shots by the clerk. And yet he still survived, unharmed, and drove off the thugs.
I love how he brings up the caliber because it's honest but I've heard people argue about which is better.unfortunately my best friend who was murdered got shot in the collar bone once with a 22 and bled to death within minutes so I don't argue about caliber.
Clerk at end of counter was smart enough to shoot thru counter top concealment. Also, appears he shot first with right hand and then switched to left hand to shoot around the counter corner. And, the other clerk was in the line of fire. But, the perp was standing and higher than the unarmed clerk. So, probably an ok shot to take. Perps were looking to kill.
Car was just vandalized overnight. Nothing taken, just wanted to bust my rear window (it had an NRA sticker). I live in a pretty safe neighborhood. Ironically enough, right after taping up my window from the incident, this video was uploaded. What a timely message.
my dad used to work at a Liquor store with a single action .44 and a 12 gauge. Not sure why the owner thought a .44 would be a good caliber for employees who never fired a gun....
That is a question that requires a very long answer, Kyle. Ultimately I would try to understand why your employer would feel that way. Every incident will be a case by case basis but during a robbery, it would be best to comply with their wishes because your life is worth more than any material possessions. Kyle Dunn Conceal deep and tell no one was my answer before becoming self employed. If you work for the post office or in some government facility where you can get jail time I wouldn't do it, but elsewhere, why not?
No debate about caliber, however I think the energetic leap over the counter would be less energetic if a full-house .357 Magnum just hit hit from a 4" barrel! :)
