That's right Will... WE GROWN! I'm going to take this adventure very soon. Thanks Mike and Will for sharing!
#FriendGoals!
@@MRADHD-ul8qk #GIANTBIGfriendgoals!
As soon as I saw Will, I just knew this was going to be a great trip. You didn't disappoint.
This channel makes me want to be Titanic-Era North American aristocracy.
dude, youre a legend! hope life is treating you well.
I see you everywhere! OWL games, music videos and now here in train videos! hope youre doing well tay!
Love your music man !
You can temporarily become a Titanic era passenger. I traveled on my "bucket list" train journey. Awesome friend, wonderful views, plus we met lots of people.
I am living in one such area which was built during the peak of gilded age. I simply don't see wat the fuss is about. I hear everyone I meet almost always mention about those golden days - through references about great grand parents. Maybe it was relevant to those times. Maybe it had something to do with the environment here. In heart of Europe you can build the fanciest of houses, trains, the works but everyone prefers to be outdoors no matter how many luxuries you give them indoors. Britain is exception in this regards - maybe because the outdoor weather is not so pleasant.
Don’t take this wrong, I do always enjoy watching your antics and whatever you share…but I love that you brought Will back! He seems like such a kind genuine person, brings a grounded calm and yet fun and relaxed atmosphere
You are definitely "grown!" What a great trip and always a joy to see Will too!
Noting better on UA-cam than another train journey with you & Will. Perfect music too. 👏👏👏👏
We did this same trip during a disappointingly rainy June overnight during our Honeymoon in June of 1991…and it was STILL such an astonishing experience I grew so very nostalgic and remember it so very vividly…even more than thirty years later
man you and Will have the most chill vibes, love taking in the views with yall
Will is such a delight of a person. "You grown" is something my grandfather would say. We're southern us lol
Thanks for taking me along with you.
Will is so cool....it's great to see you two travel together again.
I want to come back next life as Mike Downie!! All your travels!! Love the canal boats in England, but trains have my heart…especially steam. I did my fist extended train trip with my grandmother in May, 1941. I can still show you seat where I sat in while waiting to change trains at Union Station, Los Angeles.
Thanks for taking us all along with you!!
Back in 1973, my newly wed wife and I shared a berth from Vancouver to Montréal on the Canadian after a year at UBC. Even for lovebirds, the quarters were beyond tight but it made getting up at dawn to see the sunrise from the dome easy. It’s still on our bucket list to do it again but next time we’ll do it in style in a roomette. Love your travels both on train and canal boat. Thanks so much for your voice and content ...all the best...Chris Phelan
Such infectious personalities Will and Mike! Loved the episode.
Really enjoy all your travels . Is there ever a time when Will is NOT SMILING . What a great friend you have in him.
Great to see you traveling with Will again! He's my favorite of all your travel companions! 🙂
Glad to see Will again. Love his smile and I can't wait to see the Rockies in the winter. :)
On ANY train, if there is a "Dome car", and you can get up/down the stairs...you REALLY need to experience it! The Rocky Mountaineer (not a "Dome car", but better) is nice, but a train with a real dome car gives you this extra specialness of being above the rest of the train, with the 360 degree view. Experienced it on the "Mountaineer" run of the Conway Scenic Railway in North Conway, New Hampshire. It was summer, so everything was warm/green, etc...but none of that mattered. The views from the dome car as you're riding along....so much better than if you just had a seat downstairs. I enjoy all your videos Mike....but these kind of "bucket list" trips....things you can't see/do everyday...are really great! And you brought Will along to add some more fun to it!!
Beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing 💖
Yup, an advantage that riding a train has that a plane doesn't is seeing all the scenery closeup. Not to mention you have plenty of room to move around! And Will is right, you HAVE grown, in a good way! Taking trains and learning from another perspective of why it's so important that trains are an option helps people become more aware of their surroundings. In the US for example, we've become so accustomed to cars that the moment someone suggests funding transit and transit-oriented development, we snap at them. Reality is, cars aren't meant for everyone nor every place. Some places are just meant to be explored by train. And The Canadian is an example of that.
Mount Robson is the highest in the Rockies, but not in the entirety of Canada! That title belongs to Mount Logan of the Saint Elias Mountains in Yukon. That one has an elevation of 5,956 m/19,541 feet and is the second-highest peak in the WHOLE of North America after Denali in neighboring Alaska!
oh hey it's you again
😊😊
What a cool way to have an adventure from my couch as my cat napped on my lap! I would love to do so many of these train journeys with family or friends. I am so glad you take us along with you, even though we don't know where you're going next.
It never gets old when I hear you say, I don't know where I'm going next, but I know I want you with me.
Though I have a hunch you have in fact at least some idea where you're going next. While I have to be content with IDKWYGNBIKIBTWY.
A very relaxed ride with amazing winter views!
Mike. I just wanted to say, THANK YOU.
I struggle with depression, OCD, anxiety and have just recently discovered you. I like to keep neutral, interesting, wholesome content around for whenever I am feeling overwhelmed as I tend to doom quite a bit.
You are my new favorite for sure. You are extremely kind, have a wonderful personality, and share interesting and exciting topics for all.
You have reignited my passion for travel and are someone I look up to when I’m at my lowest, and I’ve never even met you. I have laughed, cried, and been left in amazement by your content and the awesome way you present it. I have shared you with friends and family in hopes it has the same effect on them.
What you are doing impacts the world more than you may ever know.
Keep being AWESOME.
LOVE Mike and Will trips!!! Love your friendship!
A great idea for a quick trip. To be able to travel through the Canadian Rockies in mid winter in total comfort with a dome car view, that's really something to remember. Good to see Will drop in again; I think I last saw him in the Grand Canyon leg of your vast U.S. odyssey. This is a good start for a new year of Downie Live.
a someone who lives in a place that barely freezes over for a few weeks of the year and only snows well about once every 5 years even trough a video its juts magical to me to see thing frozen in the winter and the beautiful landscapes that produces.
Even though it was just a 24hr trip it seems that you were able to see and experience a lot on this trip. I love when you are able to meet new people along the way. 👍🙏😎
So true!
The chilling music adds up the vibe
Oh, man! As a Colorado native, I've done the amazing 6-ish hour trip in the Colorado Rockies from Denver to Glenwood Springs many times, just for the view... but this trip looks absolutely incredible!
So glad you and Will are doing this together! You two are great travel companions! Your attitude is infectious, which I'm grateful for! I watch your adventures, listen to how you handle everything, and I always have a smile for the rest of the day! Thank you for being a positive force in the world, and, sharing it with the world!
So true😊😊😊

I find myself always smiling through your travel videos. Thank you for being kind, gracious, humble, and positive… both of you! The world can’t get enough of that. What a great escape, even just vicariously! Look forward to your future instalments!
Will- I definitely caught it. 😂
Mike has made me really stop and think about the trains, especially the infrastructure (or lack there of) and it’s upkeep.
Some Mount Robson history: Many have assumed the mountain was named after John Robson who was Premier of British Columbia from August 1889 to June 1892, but it's actually meant to be named after Colin Robertson, who worked for the North West and Hudson Bay Companies. The diary of fur trader George McDougall refers to it as Mount Robertson in 1827. The indigenous Texqa'kallt people, on the other hand, call it Yexyexéscen which means "striped rock".
Mt. Robson was first surveyed by James McEvoy in 1893 who determined it to be the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The first documented ascent of Mount Robson, led by the young guide Conrad Kain, at its time the hardest ice face to be climbed on the continent, was achieved during the 1913 annual expedition organized by a large party of Alpine Club of Canada members who made use of the newly completed Grand Trunk Pacific railway to access the area.
Thank you all knowing Supreme Leader. They should rename the mountain after you.
Quite literally, My favourite channel! Train journeys in Canada are my bucket list items and I've lived moments of excitement and joy through you. Thank you so much!!
Hello Mike & Will... Love to see you both together again.. in this amazing trip
The ultimate Canadian experience to ride the train on the dome car through the Canadian Rockies. Thank you for taking us with you.
Every time you and Will travel together now DH and I call out "hey Will is along for the trip"!. 👏👏👏 Fantastic trip video with great video, editing and music. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
My husband, the train enthusiast and I enjoyed watching this.
Love to watch you and Will traveling together and even though your both recording you both have unique videos of the trip.
Another wonderful journey. This is a fantastic train ride. Would be fun to do the entire trip. Mike, so happy you are back. This was a wonderful way to start 2023. Just a small addition. The dome car is just too cool.
Thanks!
You bet! Thanks so much for the support, Frank!
Just something about watching both of y’all’s content! I’m glad I found y’all and I’ve added so many places to my bucket list!
Always a good day when the Mike and Will train rolls through my YT feed! 👍😊 That some car, with all the views? Stunning. ❤️
Always great to see Will! The Canadian is a great way to see the beauty of Canada, and the food is a great bonus!
That is some beautiful scenery. Thank you for posting this. Keep up the great work, and enjoy your adventures!
I love your travels with Will as I see it from your view and then see it through his! Such fun!! And what a beautiful trip!!
I love your travels especially with Will on board🥰
Y'all are grown! Do what you like. I got you Will
Will is such a lovely person. I love seeing him in your videos
Us too!
Train travel (and trains in general) has always fascinated me since I was a little kid. You’ve inspired me to plan a couple solo Amtrak trips this year. Thanks, Mike!
That's awesome!
You and Willy are seriously two of the most positive and fun people ever, it's always great when you bring him along
I used to do a lot of traveling by train - commuting though, going to and coming from work but still - after some time I realized time was passing differently on the train whenever it was moving. It's not _much_ of a difference but it's there and I think it's what makes trains seem special. The way the landscape rolls by, faster in the foreground and slower in the background is indicative of the warping of time as well. I do like trains. Nice to see these videos.
Just an amazing video. Thank you for sharing a beautiful part of Canada by train the scenery was amazing.
Stunning winter trip!! And wonderful work as always!
Love you and Will together. Love all your content.
I love when Will comes with us on our trip
I just love watching you and Will. You 2 guys seem to have the best time everytime! You guys have inspired me to travel solo. I am ready to go somewhere! 🍷😊
I love this channel, and I love when you and Will team up
These two are examples of human kind. Full stop. Love you both x
Hey hope you see this I watch your videos whenever my anxiety kicks in badly as I watch these vids to help me relax and see the beautiful views that you capture thank you 😊
I work on this line and have been away quite some time, perfect video to watch when I'm missing it.
As always, a simply outstanding video. Mike, you make the experiences seem so authentic, relatable, and real as if we were sitting next to you.
Mike,
Great trip, I love trains although I haven't been on very many.
Having Will as a friend and meeting so many awesome people really must
add a special dimension to your travels.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Here in Ferndale,WA, only a stones throw from Vancouver
This train is on my bucket list, so I'm delighted to find this video - everything about it looks absolutely amazing. Great video - thanks for sharing this trip with us!
That trip must be GORGEOUS during the summer!
A few years ago we too VIA from Halifax to Vancouver. Halifax to Montreal where we stayed overnight. Then Business Class to Toronto the next day. Then that evening we too the Canadian, and because it was a once-in-a-lifetime event, we booked Prestige Class: larger roon, with a queen sized bed, huge windows, all you can eat and all you can drink at the bar. We took it early spring because without the foliage you could see a lot more animals and terrain.
That looks like the most amazing trip, everyone on that train seems so friendly, and then those views. Gotta add this to the bucket list
The train does not go through the Okanogan at all, it goes through the Thompson Valley in the Kamloops area. I have been on the train both ways through Canada.
Another great train video. I'll keep being there with you (in spirit) for each new adventure.
I love these videos of the train ride through the Rockies. I can’t wait to take one of these tours. Thanks Mike.
Great having Will along and I know he must have had a great time. As usual Michael awesome video and thanks for bringing all of us along.
Yoooooo he’s back!!! I am sooo excited!🎉🎉
I love all of your content, but the ones with trains + Will are NEXT LEVEL. ❤❤❤
Here in Brazil we don't have an extensive railway system, we barely have any to be fair, I wish I could see the landscapes of my country while sitting in a beautiful comfortable train.
I did this train with my mom. Thank you for bringing back great memories
Our pleasure!
Thanks so much for taking us along this wonderful & beautiful train experience!!!! Absolutley an awesoe video!!!! It also gives us an insight into just how miniscule we all are against Earth's wondrous landscapes such as its massive mountains, its trees, its animals, for all to enjoy!!!! Much kudos to you & your works, Downielive!!!!! Love your videos!!!! Cheers & happy trails!!!!🥰🥰🦅🦅
“We grown” heck yeah!
This has been a great scenic trip! The dome car is great with the 360 degree views! Thank you for bringing me along!
I’ve been sitting at home bored waiting for you to upload! Thanks needed this!
I miss Oregon watching this. Just beautiful!
Hey Mike, bit of an odd comment here, but I do appreciate that when you do ads, it seems to be for products that you personally do like. It goes a long way when creators truly care about quality and not making a quick buck. Thanks for the great vids! :)
Canada is gorgeous! The train is lovely as well! Winter wonderland! Love from India!

Wonderful Wonderful Mike....last year I took the 'the Canadian' from Toronto to Vancouver and this year, I'm definately going on another transcontinental trip on that wonderful 50's classic, is in my plans...thanks for sharing 😇
Thank you ..what a stunning Landscaping...I was dreaming visiting this area someday.... wishes for all💐👌🏻
What a cozy, luxurious train, and what a great way to see the Canadian Rockies! One can’t help feel a tad envious of you and Will and everyone on board. Thanks for another great video, Mike!
Glad you enjoyed it
Go and Experience 😊
Just booked this trip, except starting in Edmonton, in June to go with my mom for my 40th birthday! My first train adventure, thanks Mike for showing me what’s out there! I’m so excited! 🎉
Thank you for sharing your adventures! I'm traveling through your travels! 🔥
Another terrific train video from you Michael and it was good to see Will. That's a trip I'd gladly leave the states for.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video my sister lives in Vancouver and she has informed me as a world traveler that the rocky mountaineer trip is definitely a great trip
I absolutely love your videos.
When I see them pop up I know it's time to go full screen on the laptop and up the quality as what you are showing is worth seeing in the best quality possible.
Y’all are definitely grown. Love the content and you and Chill Will!
Yes we are! Haha
I like, no I ❤ your channel. I started on the Amtrak videos. So professional 😮💨, so entertaining 🚂. Soo cordial 👈👍🙏. The canals were crazy
Excellent experience. I gotta take my parents on this train when they visit. Thank you Downie.
Did that trip in the Spring about 10 years ago. Had a cabin. It was probably the best train experience ever. I want to do it again!
I noticed a bandage on you neck during this episode in a spot that I saw a lump on other videos. As a skin cancer survivor, I hope whatever caused that is well under control and you're off to your next adventure these days. Been binge watching your channel since discovering it a few weeks ago, lots of inspiration and has me looking forward to a train adventure soon. Didn't realize that Will was a fellow Texan either. Cheers to him.
Even though this is just a small part of the journey, this train is at the very top of my bucket list.
I wanna do this with my daughter. I’m planning the trip right now and I cannot wait 😆
Michael and Will, what a Lovely journey!!!
So Beautiful.
Nothing better than Beautiful nature enjoyed with a Lovely friendship!!! ( on a train 😄)
