    Wow you have sooo many watercolours , I haven’t tried shminke yet, but I’d like too. I use Windsor and newton and some other uk ones. Love the vibrant pink paint , and the French brushes are amazing for big washes. Lovely video Debbie , really enjoying your videos. Take care j. 😊

      I can explain! 😅 When I was moving from Germany back to Canada I wasn't sure how long it would take me to find work.... So I made a massive art order- the biggest I've ever made! And I thought I would focus on building my art channel up while I hunted for work. But I got hires pretty fast and started working right away! 😅 So this project got postponed for a few years.
      I do like the schmincke paints they are very reliable and lay very flat. But winsor and newton are great too! I would stay will what is affordable where you live. There are so many great paint companies! Happy painting Johnny!

You will do so well with your art 😊just keep going 😀🤗.
      Similar happened to me too , I started channel then had to keep stop making videos as my health was poor and my wife left me, it’s taken a while but little by little I’m more positive and so happy I can make art and videos again. Now I just need to start growing this channel of mine x 😀 all the very best debby x

      Gee, thanks Em! I'm so glad you thought so. And yes I know, I have a problem. 🫣 😅 The collecting has been put on hold. I should give myself a painting quota before I’m allowed to get anything else. 😂

    Thank you for your information. I feel like I'm torn between being lost in the wilderness, and falling down the rabbit hole with art supplies as I did with art photography, fly tying, and wood carving. I'm currently navigating sketching/ watercolor with poorly stocked office/ craft stores and Amazon. Do so many options stiffle creativity, or invite personal development? Danged if I know..

      You are most welcome! That is definitely an interesting list of activities! 😁👍 As Art supply fanatic myself, I will attest to the fact that collecting can become a distraction from the actual doing. So just remember what you got into it for! But pretty pigments are definitely a weakness of mine. 😅

    Great video! I'm a new subscriber after finding you today, but I've already watched several videos and very much enjoyed them all. Do you mind sharing the brand and info on the non synthetic as the info was warn off or not shown or mentioned? Ask me how I know or how many times I rewind hoping to catch it. 😂

      Thanks for subscribing! I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos. The brush is the Davinci Cosmotop Spin - Size 6 Round. And this one is at least 10 years old! 😅 It's a great synthetic. I can highly recommend! Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I'll add it in the description box. 😊👍

    What kind of case do you have your watercolor tubes in?

    • @warmyellowshade
      @warmyellowshade  8 місяців тому

      I'm not sure really. I think it might be meant for tools or screws or something hardware-ish. It was something the workshop I was working at was getting rid of - and I snagged it. I would keep an eye out at the hardware store for something like it! I did a quick search on amazon for "screw case" and found similar options. Maybe check the compartment dimensions and see if it works with the tubes you own. 😊

    I have to disagree on old Holland as a brand. Like Bruce MacEvoy on handprint pointed out about this brand they have a really gummy consistency and are one of the hardest brands to rewet. They also contain lots of animal ingredients which come inevitably from extreme cruelty and are not necessaey when there are better paints out there. I got a tube of discontinued manganese blue and manganese blue deep from them years ago and you have to scrub at the paint for half an hour to get much colour off once dry.
    That Windsor and newton cobalt pale is the nicest cobalt colour there is and I’ll be sad when mine runs out as I no longer buy paint with baby cows in. A truly stunning pg50
    Can we stop spewing old nonsense about synthetic brushes being springy and showing the cheapest old brushes and comparing them to the hair of the fur industry from animals trapped in the wild and often skinned alive or kept on horrific fur farms where they live piled on top of each other in cages with no floors or bedding and spread zoonotic diseases?
    Modern fibres like those in winsor and newtons professional synthetic kolinsky sable are made to mimic the microscopic nicks in real hair that holds water and pigment. These brushes are so unspringy they dry like real hair splayed out and create even softer washes than real fur.
    The art community needs to stop sugar coating what is the same as a fur coat to the fashion industry. Insane cruelty for what? A painting?

      Oh interesting! 🤔 I haven't had any issues with the tubes of Old Holland that I bought. But as with all art materials it comes down to personal preference. And yes that blue is lovely! As far as the brushes go, yes there are options. I personally don't like to judge other people's ethics, everyone is free to choose what they are comfortable with. 💛
