My Art Journey: From Dead Bodies to Sticker Shops... and the Messy Spaces Between

Hey art friends! So, this video is a bit different. I realized I've never properly introduced myself or shared my journey as an artist, so here we go! From making actual dead bodies for film sets (yep, you read that right) to freelancing, creating kids’ books, and trying to figure out this whole ‘independent artist’ thing-my path has been anything but straightforward. I enjoy using blending stumps for oil pastel both for blending and adding color in small details. I have a bunch and I use them with similar colors. So a red one, a blue, etc. For me it makes it less likely to contaminate my colors. Thank you for the video. Nice painting.

    That was a super cute painting! I use that palette all the time. I love the Sta-Wet palettes! I also have the 12 x 16 that I use for regular acrylic paints. If you soak the paper completely, and make sure your sponge isn't too wet, you can keep your palette moist for several weeks. I put a drop of hydrogen peroxide on my sponge to make sure that things don't go moldy. I also wash it out with hot water (by hand) if it's been sitting for a while. You can also re-use your paper, which is awesome. You can wipe out the paint with a paper towel, the spray it down with water and wipe it fairly clean. Also, you can use cheap baking paper (the good stuff has too much silicone which makes it way too impermeable) and cut it the same size as your palette paper and lay it on top of the sponge and the paper both. That way you don't have to be super careful about the amount of moisture you have in the palette paper and your palette paper will last a really long time. Have fun! it is a bit of a learning curve as you are finding out. But it is really worth the effort, imho.

    • @warmyellowshade
      @warmyellowshade 29 днів тому

      If you are planning to mostly use watercolour then I would stick to a watercolor sketchbook. It’ll be much more enjoyable to paint on thicker paper!
