I've been following since the beginning. One of the best restorations on the internet.
There are many reasons why i love the series. First of all. That he started as a kid is now a Boomer. But for real. He showed that with dedication and researching you can be a better mechanic than ectual mechanics. I wouldve replace alot of the parts he rebuild which i think is pretty inspiring because he really wanted to keep it stock and know how everything works. He probably will never do that again. But his dedication to make it as perfekt as he can is really impressiv. Edit; something really important down here
Edit; i just notice something kinda important. Your seatbelts should be replaced with new ones. When you pull them out theyll still full of mold. But thats not the problem. I think they might get weakend by the mold and beeing that old and could snap in an accident.
You might hate me for this, but I think you should swap the rear springs for the aftermarket ones as well. Because when you changed the front springs for stiffer ones, you have changed the balance of the car's handling. Presumably the lowering spring kit is actually thought out as a whole, so the spring rates complement each other and the car's handling balance is preserved.
It should be a lot more fun to drive with the whole spring it in it.
this. im pretty sure the rear springs are simply just worn out abit since the engine weight is in the back, i also have a car with engine at the back and i was also dealing with this exact issue, and replacing the rear springs with new oem spec ones fixed it completely. id bet if the rear eibachs would be fit too, it will sit as it does now and the suspension wont be out of balance.
Agreed fully. Having different rate springs front and back is a bad idea, especially when the old ones are worn out. Putting the lowered ones in the rear should make it site perfectly evenly and have the correct matching spring rates front and back.
Yup. One more vote to replace the rear springs too. Especially since you bought a matched set of 4.
Yeah, you may as well USE the matching new rear springs since you HAVE them.
As others have noted - the stiffer suspension springs all around will likely ride perfectly and level.
Having stiffer springs in the front will just increase the understeer, which is perfectly fine. It's not a safety issue and the handling won't be noticeably screwed up unless he's autocrossing it.
But having said that, yeah I'd swap out the rear springs as well if it was my car. Nobody wants to buy rear lowering springs without the fronts, so he's stuck with them, might as well use them. Also there's no down- side to installing them.
Needs a proper finale for one of the greatest UA-cam series of all time.

@@thebigjohn8239 if I remember correctly, he did changed the AC compressor and all the rubber seals to be compatible with r134 refrigerant, so i guess it just needs to be charged with refrigerant.
Guy is amazing. When he started fixing easily replaceable components, my initial reaction was “Why? That’s silly!” A few videos later, the fact that he’s doing that is my favorite part. That’s pride & professionalism on a new level.
White walls would have looked so good with those turbo fan rims! Personally I’ve been trying to look for white wall for my Toyota matrix. They’re due for a come back in popularity.
That last epilogue sounds reminds me of finishing graduate school. A monumental project seen to almost finish and little unsure of the future

I loved fallowing this. Me and my dad watched all of the episodes! He is a really petty carguy with just like he raised me. We restored my engine and cleaned it with toothbrushes. And sandblasted the shit rust to the moon. But we really ejoyed this series my guy well done.. This car is in fact actually in top notch shape now. You should be proud. Support from Sweden!

Honestly I've just let the ghost completely take over wiping duties. He has completely stopped making my toddler's head spin around while vomiting, and my undercarriage has never been cleaner.

I worked in the parts department of a Pontiac dealership in south Florida in the '80's and we sold a lot of Fieros. I never thought the day would come that these would be classics but here we are! You have done a spectacular job of restoring this car and taking us with you. Thanks!

That feeling when you turn the ignition key and your stuck tach finally goes to zero.
I remember building my supra up, first 3 years getting it running and driving doing an engine swap I've never done. Blowing it up in 3 months and repairing and upgrading over a 4 month period and spending years driving and repairing and upgrading things over a 15 year period. I congratulate you. It will be fun to spend that time with your significant other on cruises all over and enjoy a sorted vehicle.

You definitely want matching spring rates when driving down the road.
I agree, was thinking the same thing. It will make the car handle really weird, rock hard in the front, oem bouncy in the back. Especially for a mid engined car, I can imagine a situation like that would cause things to get real interesting in hard cornering and quick manuvers

I am one of your viewers when this project started. I was in college back then, and followed along. I graduated, still watching you progress in finishing this great car. Even in my review days for my licensure exams which took 6 months, I was there, waiting for your updates. I think this is one of the reasons why i didn't give up on my goal and never stop on reaching to it. I passed my licensure and still looking forward on seeing you finish your goal too. I envy those who can watch this series in one seating. Because majority of us here, waited patiently for you to finish this. We are all so proud of you. Watching the end of this finale had me tearing up, just like the ending of "The Truman show".
I am not only happy that this happened, but makes me feel better about my project. Time and money are 2 very big factors to be taken into account when it comes to either projects or rebuild/restorations. Too much time into a project and you get burned out. Too much money and you burn out your wallet and you don't want to touch it. Being able to stay focused and work on little things are what make our hobby fun. The trouble shooting, the busted knuckles and freezing/melting in your garage.
I myself have jumped into a project of dropping a Honda 2.4 into a dihatsu minitruck. Crazy I know, but this is the art that we make. So many mediums, people will either hate it or love it.
While I wish this series to not end, but as all things must. I look forward to any other projects planned for you and your channel. Thank you for the pleasure of giving us this experience

I've been here for the full 3 years and have been invested in this series like many others and I'll gladly say it was so much fun being along for the ride. So cool to see your channel has grown so much because of a Fiero.

I remember starting this series on the second episode, I was preparing for mock exams in school. I laughed to myself saying "I'll be in my final year of school when he finishes this" and lone behold, I sit my final exams in 3 months from now, exactly 3 years ago
Many people have enjoyed watching you with this series and you learning from trial and error to make the car yours. Your memories from the past times you had with your fathers car, to the one you had in high school make this rebuild special.

I had a neighbor that went through this type level of restoration with a Fiero. He even put a Buick supercharged V6 in it and had it almost completed. They were doing a really quality job and spent a couple of years on it. Just before it was finished they realized it had a transmission front seal leak and asked me what was wrong (I was an AAMCO Transmission mechanic), I told them they needed to replace the pump bushing along with the seal, instead of just the seal. That was the straw that broke the camels back...they didn`t want to pull the transmission back out and do any more work to it and decided they were moving. They said the first $2000 that comes along gets it. I didn`t have $2000. I sure regret being so broke I couldn`t buy that! It was like 98% done.
Oh man. A part of me wants to see it finished, another part of me wishes for that series to never end. Come on Brain, you can't have both.
Man at this point watching the new episodes feels like seeing an old friend. And that’s a good thing. Truly and amazing series. I’ve never been so excited for new episodes of anything.

That's why when my dad was working for Toyota in the early 2000's he told me NOT to buy an MRS. It takes so much work to do a minor thing in small cars like this.

Ya know I think I found out what I like about u. I was wondering why I was so entranced in this whole series when I had never been remotely interested in cars or restorations. in late 2019(I think) I found myself looking at you to get an old Fiero off somebody's yard and tow it into your place. The video was randomly recommended to me and I had no idea why I was looking at this. what separated you from any other car restoration video? Well, it was your honesty and the realness of everything. I've watched a few more restoration vids since you on other channels but nothing comes close to your content and your style. Most just are silent and show themselves restoring something and not going over things or even having a bit of humor thrown in to keep you interested. You don't know everything so it's a journey to see you grow and solve problems in ways that are sometimes not exactly the proper way.
You have a sense of humor that you insert into the commentary at the best points to keep everyone entertained when you don't even need to and the best thing I like about your channel Ron is that you feel like a person. UA-cam has a way of making a lot of ppl make the same type of content or have the same personality type but you feel like a real person(god that sounds weird lol) I mean that you fail, you break things, you make mistakes, you get mad, you succeed, you find a solution, you calm down. *YOU FEEL REAL* and in a place like youtube that can carry you a long way and you also inspire. I knew very little about cars when I started watching you but your vids interested me and I started wanting to know more about how cars work. I was out of a job at the time so I got a job at Advance Auto. You literally inspired me to get a job where I get to work and talk about cars everyday. I have loved the job ever since. I'm still learning quite a bit and have A LOT to learn but damn is it nice to recognize some of the things in the video and know the solutions. I look forward to your next projects and ill always be here to watch the vids :)
