Yes I absolutely love it!! Love HBOs Tales from the Crypt as well. Don’t really think Demon Knight is too hidden though I think a lot of ppl know about it
Some other 90s hidden horror gems....Ghost In The Machine(1993), The First Power(1990), Man's Best Friend(1993) , Bats(1999), Thinner(1996), Stigmata(1999), The Guardian(1990), Sleepwalkers(1992), The Ambulance(1990) , Popcorn(1991) , Innocent Blood(1993)
Watched all of them. When Fallen (1998) came out. I told friends that it was a copy of the first power and they never heard of it. Lou Diamond was on a role back then.
@dualleh Yes same here, I'm like this is First Power, Lou Diamond Philips is underrated..."see ya around buddy boy" lol....I also put Bats with Lou, great creature feature that needs more love
@@jesseswarbrick7895 Bats is a great one too. (See around buddy boy) the way he said it gave me chills. Lou diamond was the goat. Young guns even in The Big hit he was cool.
@@QuetzalcoatlOdinCan see that reasoning for sure, though I've often felt that many "psychological thrillers" are basically horror films without the gore. With many "thrillers" actually being more tense and disturbing/frightening than a lot of films termed "horror" (which i love by the way) And I think we can all agree that what's happening to Jacob is quite horrific, at least initially. Amazing film regardless of genre we place it in. On a side note, I can never think of this film without thinking of Angel Heart (1987) for which Mickey Rourke, in my own personal world, won an Oscar for his role as Harry Angel. Both films are fantastic examples of psychological thriller/horror imo Cheers 😎👍
I love them both (especially Lord of Illusions), but objectively I would say there is some questionable acting and effects in them that hold them back from being more widely recognized, and Nightbreed really got chopped up in the editing room before theatrical release.
In the aftermath of the 1980s, the horror genre had fallen on hard times. Many franchises like Friday the 13th and a Nightmare on Elm Street were no longer scary and weren't taken seriously by fans and critics. Yet they're were an underrated assortment of films that should have been popular but sadly were forgotten. Many were either straight to VHS or had a limited run in theaters.
The resurrection was a real surprise. Had made for TV written all over it, but the horror was very effective. Dr Frankenstein eat your heart out (alongside all the other parts too).
Not many people know if this movie at least the people I know maybe it's a generational thing but I saw this movie randomly on TV a few years ago loved it since
Not sure they're ''hidden gems'' but some other great horror movies come to mind: Serpent and the Rainbow, In the mouth of Madness, Event Horizon, and Phantasm 3 & 4.
Demon Knight is amazing!!! Billy Zane was great in that!! I would love to see another Demon Knight...as it is set up for more.... But I have enjoyed watching all of these movies!!
Great compilation. A hint for the Ravenous movie (a gem), it's actualy based on the Wendigo legend; eat your prey, gain their strength, heal faster, live longer.
Reavenous found me after 2am on cable tv... I never heard of it and decided it would help me fall asleep.. well, that never happened and I watched what became one of my favorites of all time. It was one of the first movies that left me with the empt, hollow feeling in my gut. The other was another phenomenal movie Lars von trier's Antichrist
ultra hidden you say. How do you hid something ultra? if its hidden its hidden. You cant hide something more than hidden. Best you have is past or future tense. IF you hide something then that is it.
This movie has my favorite scene ever in it. When Billy Zanes character gets fed up and goes off. " You f*ckin, hodunk podunk well, then, there mother*fuckers" 🤣🤣🤣😢
Some great mentions but still a lot left out! Bad Moon was a great 90s werewolf movie! Loved the wolf design! Demon Knight is also another favorite of mine! Great horror with comesy! Love, love the special effects and the demons!
Stir of Echoes is definitely a hidden gem. Jacob's Ladder, however, is not. It's a gem but quite well known. Good list, though. The Resurrected was new to me but looks really interesting, I'm gonna have to find that one!
I saw it once ages ago on like HBO or something and those creatures were just so nightmarish that I wondered what the name of the movie was for many years. Fast forward to present day and they've got it out on blu-ray which I'm glad is still as creepy as I remembered!
@@residentpotato6023 What really got me interested was the scene where they found the thing that washed up on the riverbanks. that thing was creepy AF, still is! But yes, the scene within the crypts is all kinds of nopes!
The Pit and the Pendulum - This was such a disappointment to me. I was expecting a straight horror movie and instead it was laced with bits of stupid, almost slapstick humor. I didn't think the acting was all that great. And finally, the film was full of really obvious goofs. Like a woman supposedly being stretched on the rack, except that her elbows are bent nearly the entire time. I mean, if they can't even get a small detail like that right, the filmmakers just weren't paying attention. The whole movie just had a shoddy feel to it.
i hate when some1 intentionally makes a movie or photo black and white. thats like throwing away a lighter because u wanna rub 2 sticks together instead
Sometimes it works like with Ed Wood and Mank but yeah alot of times it's Unnecessary like especially movies where they do both like color and B&W like Oppenheimer and Blonde
Ravenous! So underrated.
Bad moon was and still is one of my favorite movies. So under rated.
I love demon knight, easy one off the best ever demon movies.
That's a 10

First Power and Stigmata are two of my faves.
Stir of Echoes was dope
Jacob’s Ladder was amazing, Tim Robbins was perfect!
Agreed, though thriller send more appropriate.

@@midknightgeek6629 agreed. I'll have to check out your suggestion.
The 1990's had tons of very good horror stories. More than I can count on my fingers and toes.
The Night Flier should've gotten a mention.
You forgot Lord of Illusions and Nightbreed.
I love them both (especially Lord of Illusions), but objectively I would say there is some questionable acting and effects in them that hold them back from being more widely recognized, and Nightbreed really got chopped up in the editing room before theatrical release.

Death Becomes Her, one of the best movies ever!
Bad Moon has one of the best werewolfs in movie history.
Great list! But I would add the movie Popcorn. 1991.
Demon Night was good! Every time I see Billy Zane in any other production or movie, I always remember how scary good he was in Demon Night.
Ravenous is a great play on the cannibal / packer legend . A must watch.
I just found this movie on DVD 📀 at a yard sale last year Best $3.00 I ever spent especially since I never see it on any streaming services
I'm so glad you included Bad Moon! One of my favorite movie from the 90s and an underrated werewolf movie.
It needs more attention
Brainscan, With in the Rock were good also.💀🤠
Demon night was amazing
The resurrection was a real surprise. Had made for TV written all over it, but the horror was very effective. Dr Frankenstein eat your heart out (alongside all the other parts too).
Nightbreed is one of the best horrors of the 90s
Thor the dog is badass!

The mom in Bad Moon ain't shit for how she did Thor.
Fantastic list. Ravenous, Demon knight, and The Pit and the Pendulum will always have a warm place in my heart.
Wonderful movies in 90s🌟🌟🌟🌟
Recently watched The Resurrected for the first time! Amazing practical effects and great story! Highly recommended
If my wife has heard of the movie it is not "hidden". Which includes Jacob's ladder, Ravenous, Stir of Echoes and, The Pit and The Pendulum.
I've heard of the Pit and the Pendulum before but I'm definitely going to look for it now
Foremost among my peers!
Glad Thor, horror's goodest boy, is getting some love. I don't see a lot of mention of Bad Moon.
Glad to see Ravenous on this list, I watched it just the other day
Jacob's Ladder is considered an ultra hidden gem? Pretty sure it's one of the most popular movies ever from the 90s.
Jacobs Ladder is mainstream or was but is one of those films that not a lot of people know about still despite the actors and the rep.
Not many people know if this movie at least the people I know maybe it's a generational thing but I saw this movie randomly on TV a few years ago loved it since
The one with Mark Hamill was also parodied on THE SIMPSONS TREE HOUSE OF HORROR when Homer get new from in the form of Snake's scalped hair. 😂
I've never seen the Dark Half, but I have read it and it's a thrilling and hilarious book. The villain has some great one-liners
Bad Moon has the werewolf that haunts my nightmares. A bipedal killing machine that is fast and efficient in tearing bone and muscle from sinew.
Ravenous is a great movie. I love the sound track
Ravenous is one of my overall favorite movies. The fact it's so underrated actually makes me hate the world a little.
Jacob's Ladder that is the one right there
Not sure they're ''hidden gems'' but some other great horror movies come to mind: Serpent and the Rainbow, In the mouth of Madness, Event Horizon, and Phantasm 3 & 4.
Serpent and the Rainbow is so good! It's based on the book of the same name that's supposed to be a true story.
So glad to see The Resurrected on the list. So many favorites here (Ravenous).
Demon Knight is amazing!!! Billy Zane was great in that!! I would love to see another Demon Knight...as it is set up for more....
But I have enjoyed watching all of these movies!!
They made one more movie Bardillo of Blood a vampire comedy with Dennis Miller worth watching 👍
Hardware is fantastic
"Stir of Echoes" really messed with me back in the day! I remember most all these movies, and maybe I need to give them a chance, from the look of it?
hardware is a damned good movie this is what you want this is what you get
Sad that these are not included: wishmaster, Warlock Armageddon, Castle Freak, An american werewolf in Paris 😅.
Demonknight really brings nostalgia
Horror gem from the 90's Mr. Frost with Jeff Goldblum
P graveyard shift with Brad Dora
Body Parts (1991) and The Relic (1997)
Great compilation. A hint for the Ravenous movie (a gem), it's actualy based on the Wendigo legend; eat your prey, gain their strength, heal faster, live longer.
6:34 LOL I bet Carl just picked out his stage outfit from when he needed to perform with his band Fields Of The Nephilim.

Not many movies can creep me out but , Jacobs Ladder is one that I do not want to watch a second time.
Just by the thumbnail i already love this video
Demon Knight was badass great soundtrack
This movie has my favorite scene ever in it. When Billy Zanes character gets fed up and goes off. " You f*ckin, hodunk podunk well, then, there mother*fuckers" 🤣🤣🤣😢
Thanx for the video. Only heard of Demon Knight and know that I watched it, plus heard of Stir of Echos. Hard to believe how few I heard of.
Some great mentions but still a lot left out!

Demon Knight is also another favorite of mine! Great horror with comesy! Love, love the special effects and the demons!
You say a lot left out well Name some more were all here for Recommendations
The 90's had some awesome movies. Now we are lucky to get even a few. Movies are not like they use to be.
Stir of Echoes is definitely a hidden gem. Jacob's Ladder, however, is not. It's a gem but quite well known.

Resurrected is a tough one to find. I have it on VHS somewhere. The scene where they descend into the crypts in darkness is pretty rad.

Some good fx but the movie is boring😢
Lets not forget Puppet Master 1 and 2. Andrew Divoffs strong acting made those two movies epic
Where is John Carpenter's Vampires? A true underrated gem
You forgot The Night Flier (extremely underated King adaption ) Habit ( obscure vampire horror ).
Both good vampire movies. No the vampires in them are not good.
Brainscan was a hidden gem
ultra hidden more like ultra known
The Boneyard is underrated.
Bad Moon 🤘🤘🤘. In Brazil: "Lua Negra".
I wanna see the addiction
My favorite thing about the 90’s was the lack of AI.
Ravenous was awesome.day it in theater.i was the only one.wsy underated
bad moon rules!
Most people think the 90's was just Scream and it's copycat movies like I know what you did last summer
I know what you did last summer was based on a book that was written long before Scream, so not really a copycat.
Urban Legends @@cinema_chic
Yeah, that M Night Shyolomen can be hit or miss..
Other less well known decent 90s horror films - Braindead, Cube, Class of 1999
Watching these in order
Shaymalan is a hack.
Well no one can deny that he had a hit with the 6th sense. Other than that though, I didn't think there was anything else really all that great.
Ditto that, 6th Sense was great but all his other movies were 'meh' at best.
Still, at least pronounce his name correctly.
You should do a list of best directors cut horror movies.
i feel old when they say 90s movies are classic

He’s literally using it wrong haha
Brain Scan 1994, Body Snatchers 1993
Stir of echoes scared me to death
How do you say, “I don’t personally know horror”?
“Shyalaman”
Most of these are not “ultra hidden” as they are revered among the horror community. Couple of good picks in here though.
It's The Resurrected, not the resurrection
these movies are mainstream af😭
The ressurected was pretty painfully boring lol
Hidden? Well I found most of these.

Ultra Hidden 😂😂😂
