Hello mate, fellow professional gardener and just subscribed. Well done for not moaning more about the pissy weather. It has been bloody dire for months now for all us outdoor tradespersons! Mind you, I still wouldn't want an indoor job! Good point about the pruning. I do the same. We always have to balance good plant care against customer understanding!
Laurels will quickly grow and provide a private garden which seems to be needed here near a school? They just need keeping under control as you know Lee. More work for the future!
I like all hedges ,I’m going to find some here to plant even though they might not make it in our hot summers. Thanks Lee again you make it look so easy.😅🤩
I do like laurel. I use it to fill in hedges where the hedge has grown too tall and is no longer fill the bottom. Cherry does well under the privet as it can stand the shade and dry soil - it looks great as you have a privet top and laurel bottom.
Good vid.. I'm putting 60 in my garden as my back will testify to..have I done right in putting compost some other mulch from apples and some horse manure in before putting them in and watering them..
I winded up not finding the laurels so I ordered bigfoot cleyera and bronze cleyera. Very similar though..check them out. Still love the laurels. I subscribed bc i enjoy your videos and accent! Im southern btw 🙂
Wet weather🤪 sorry for mixing in, but I spread the roots with a claw, I think the plants grow better. No critic, just to mention, but we have dry hot summers an my garden has very heavy soil (no sand but clay). This might be different from your area.
Hey lee , hows the wheel ? Just planted these myself they were in 4 ltr pots probably around 120cm tall Its 1st week of march is it ok to give them a hair cut now or wait till june ? Some are leggy
Lee ,question for you ive got 70ft area that I want to plant but need a little height to protect my property ,how many would I need in these cherry laurel trees and far in planting them apart..what you recommend, any advice would be good .cheers Steve
Hi lee another top video. How far do you put them apart? There's no need to put new soil in the hole before you put the plants in 👍👍glad you keeping busye 👍
Hi, nice video again. Just a query about the spacing, I'm doing one of these this week, 35 metres and the place I've bought the plants from recommends 3 per metre, as does my local garden centre, so I've bought 100 plants (customer has already paid and I'm making a decent amount for the job as well), you've planted just over 1 per metre, is the 3 per metre recommendation by the garden centres overkill do you think just to sell more plants?
@LHL garden services Pls I am also want to c the update. What is the growth rate? Is it faster /slower than bamboo? Can u explain us the pros and cons of Laurel v bamboo hedging
Hi , love the video, I have just started working at a place where we have about 40 laurels about 2 and half to 3 feet tall, apparently they are planted above an old road . The road is about 18inches below and some seem to be struggling, I have been feeding them with home made nettle fertiliser . Should I carry on feeding them through winter and would it be ok to clip them now or am I best to wait for spring Cheers mark
Nice video. Quick question. It's nearly time to overseed the lawn after scarifying, is there a particular type or brand of seed you would recommend for a really nice lawn?? Cheers 👍🏼
Just want to say i hate that shrub had to dig so many out ridiculously large 40m high and wide just a pain in the backside prefer ligustrum or grisilinea in fact any shrubs better even my best friend pyracantha which ive had many fights with spiny devils
Pet peeve. Hedges growing over boundaries to obstruct footpaths and intrude into other peoples gardens. The Cherry Laurel has a wide spread, and as I believe they want the hedge in for privacy and sound reduction from the noise factory close by. To facilitate a good spread should you not have planted those you can further back into the garden to let them get a good spread at the base all round as you will have to cut them on the outside level with the wall so they don't obstruct the street or have the owner risk a claim for wee Jimmy getting his face ripped off as he staggered home drunk, on a protruding hedge. Just asking, as I had three sets of neighbors plant Leylandii weeds at our rear fence line and I lost five foot of garden to them until I gathered up some gumption and went wild and cut them back to the fence line, which eventually killed them all as lop sided trees don't generally do well.
I'd love to see what this hedge looks like now!
Unfortunately it was a one off but I've been asked a few times about an update so I will drive back and do an update ASAP..stay tuned 👍🏻

I'm about to plant these myself. How close together for a tall privacy hedge? My neighbors are too much lol
About 3ft apart will be fine 👍
Hi Lee, how far away would you plant 2’ tall plants from the lawn edge please? Thanks
All depends on what you want and what they are...Are you going to clip them are they a hedge..what is behind them the list goes on 🤷♂️

In a year or two probably about a metre 🤔

Probably about right..2.5 ft < 3ft apart
Those hedges are very pretty, I bet they'll look awesome once fully grown. Nice soggy soil. 😉🇺🇸
