Lea is playing Eponine here, played in the movie by Samantha Barks. Ann Hathaway played Fantine who sings “I Dreamed a Dream” (and dies early on in the story). Lea played Eponine on Broadway in 1993 and then did it for the LES MIZ 10th anniversary concert in 1995, which is where this video comes from. Lea went into the LES MIZ Broadway revival in 2007 as Fantine and then sang Fantine in the 25th anniversary concert in 2010. Lea was the first Asian (and I think maybe the first non-Caucasian) actress to play Eponine on Broadway. She is also the only person to be part of the 10th and 25th anniversary concerts as different roles. Please react to more of Lea! Lea is the singing voice of 2 Disney princesses but she has sung other Disney songs in concerts. Whether she is singing Disney or musical theater or anything else - it sounds gorgeous!
I'm leaving this comment not for the video creator because I'm sure they already know by now, but for those coming here to watch the video. Salonga is now in her 50s, like me, and she started her career in Broadway when she played the role of Kim in "Miss Saigon," a role that she was cast in when she was 17, 18, and for which she won a Tony.
Les Miserable is my absolute favorite musical. The story is like no other musical. Les Miserable by Victor Hugo was one of my 5 favorite books of my entire life. The movie was HORRIBLE. Russell Crowe destroyed those songs. This version is the 10th anniversary tribute. It is not the entire show but, in my opinion, it is as good as seeing the full stage show. There are 3 performances from this production that are in my heart, including this one. ❤ karen
The movie, in my opinion, was a pretty awful version of Les Miserables. Although, the woman who played Eponine (Samantha Barks) was by far the most talented in the movie as she was already a broadway musical actress.

Lea's vocals are phenomenal and she always express her emotions when she sings.
Please react to Lea Salonga singing "I'd Give My Life for You" from Miss Saigon Manila

The second pronunciation was correct. LAY-ah Salonga.
