Hello Uncle Momo, Lea Salonga is a Filipina artist from the Philippines. She is one of the best when it comes to broadway music. She sang two iconic songs of Disney which are "Mulan" and theme of "Alladin". She is a legend over here in the Philippines. Thank you so much, and if i'm not mistaken she is also the first asian to win the Tony Awards. Thank you for reacting to her Uncle Momo...god bless....
Lea (pronounced LAY-ah) Salonga is a Filipina actress/singer. She has been performing since age 7 doing theater, albums, concerts, TV and film. She was the original lead in the musical MISS SAIGON in London in 1989 (age 18) and then Broadway in 1991 (age 20) and won all the major theater awards in both countries. This video is from the 10th Anniversary Dream cast concert of LES MIZ in 1995. (Lea also played this role on Broadway in 1993 becoming the first Asian/non-caucasian actress to play Eponine.) Samantha Barks sang this song in the movie. Ann Hathaway played Fantine in the movie - a part Lea played on Broadway in 2007 and in the 25th anniversary concert of LES MIZ in 2010. Please check out more of Lea’s performances! Old ones, more recent ones, whatever! She is fantastic!
I left a comment on your Short of this! I had the amazing opportunity to have seen Lea appear live as Eponine on Broadway in the 1990s. Had the opportunity to see her live again on Broadway too in Miss Saigon. She's among the living Broadway legends! And yes to the other comments: she's Filipina. She grew up in the Philippines and if I'm not wrong, was the first Asian to be blind casted playing a traditionally white role in a major Broadway production.
She’s from the Philippines sir. Originaly she sung A WHOLE NEW WORLD from movie Aladdin and REFLECTION from movie Mulan… She is our Disney Princess …😊❤️🇵🇭
I love this.. I have seen Lea many times .. fantastic performer.. beautiful singer.. I remember seeing this in NY when my son was so young and small about 3 he needed a booster seat to see the stage.. thanks my friend! ♥️🫶🏻♥️x
And yes, she sang as Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin in "A Whole New World". She played Eponine in this 10th Anniversary concert and then played Fantaine in the 20th anniversary concert!
Yep. Pronunciation.... it's live, and the audience deserves word clarity. Live orchestra plus singing live. You probably won't feel it if it's your first time hearing the song tho... love your reaction ♥️
I think I’m sorry to say ? I’ve never seen anything from this production/show…any of them. In the 50s, I had to read the book as an assignment. At least you made interesting. So sad the lighting on her face was in need.
