- There was a lot of great gear at NAMM 2024, but the two standout keyboards have to be the Nord Grand 2 and the Korg Grandstage X. Long awaited updates for both that don't disappoint...mostly. We review the pros and cons of each.
If you want to review some great NAMM coverage, check out the @sonicstate You Tube channel / @sonicstate for some great videos.

Magnificent review. No fuss, or decoding speech, just straight to the point. Beautifully done!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video.
nord needs to figure a way to use an external harddrive with additional immediate sounds
Grandstage X looks like a giant PS5. 😅
Lol, it does.
It's the keyboard edition
Holy crap, that's right on the money
It does 😂 This comment made me watch the video
I went to Namm and tried both Grand 2 and Grandstage X. There was no clear winner for me. I am currently on a Nord Piano 5 so the only thing that stood out on the Grand 2 was the Kawai keys--otherwise, everything on Grand 2 is very similar to Piano 5--down to the paltry memory size. The Grandstage X was great but the RH3 keys were a big bummer for me. I used to have a Korg SV-1 which had the RH3 keys and I found that to be too heavy for me when comparing to other keyboards. Sigh.... Maybe I'll wait for next iteration of Grandstage X2 or Grand 3. Although.... if I had a gun pointed to my head and forced to choose one of the two...I would pick Nord Grand 2. I love my Nord Piano 5, so having Kawai keys is a bonus.
Thanks for the info Dennis. I had pretty much the same thoughts. The Grandstage checks all the boxes except for the action and that's a pretty big deal. It's no fun playing a keyboard with a terrible action, no matter how great it sounds, at least for me. If Nord had put 3 GB of piano memory into the Grand 2, it would have been on my wish list, but it's not worth upgrading if I have virtually the same memory as my existing Nord.
Amazing voice, great cuts and camera angles. You should publish more. 🎉 korg’s design is stunning. It is a shame they neglected the keybed.
Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the Grandstage with a Kawai action would be pretty great.
wow nice comparison and great products🎉
Thanks, glad you liked the video.
Hope the Nord has fixed the ppp issue as to me, the White Grand sounds gorgeous but plays unlike any acoustic at ppp.
Thanks. Great vid once again.
I wonder if the GrandStage X has MDF (particle board) underneath. Its predecessor did and I’m not a fan when playing on liquid inundated surfaces ;)
It’s one of the reasons why I like my Roland RD-88. No particle board or MDF there. And the Nord also looks like it’s metal clad underneath. Here’s hoping for the GrandStage X.
Thanks Pro. I did not know about the particle board. That’s not acceptable for a keyboard over $1000 in my book. Yes, the Nord does have a metal bottom and it’s built pretty solid. The only thing I really wish the new one had was more memory.
Nord piano sound is best of the best.❤
It's definitely my favorite.
Dann sollten Sie mal den Viscount Legend 70s Artist w ausprobieren!
Dad joke at the start haha!
FTW! ;)
Did anyone lay the Korg Grandstage up off the floor without help?
And it's the round-ness that won't help!
It's like a bullet train!
Great job but how about wooly bully watch it now 😮
Ha, that's one of my band's favorite songs to play. Always gets people dancing.
I know, a 256GB microsd card is only $20, so I think they should be able to have much more than 1GB
Heck, even if they put in an SD card slot, that would be great. Then at least you could have different set ups that you could switch to.
@@arcticfoxstudios2018 yeah, so it is like it has a hard drive. Or when SSD drive is cheap enough, if they can put a 1TB or 2TB drive on it, it'd be so amazing
Great review, but the Grandstage has a music stand.
Thanks for the correction.
It’s the same action with an updated PCB. Neither of them have escapement.
Really? That's disappointing.
sorry but I would take the Kawai mp7se anytime over these 2 ..
It's a very good board for considerably cheaper. I just preferred the Nord pianos when I bought mine.
Ridiculous Pricing......I guess it will not work like the CP 1 from Yamaha. It started with over 5000$, and today you can buy it nearly unused for a 1000 €.....
Yeah, that's why I go used. Can't afford brand new gear at those prices.
I do the same. I bought the CP4 used for 900€. It has a fanstastic Yamaha Grand Piano. Some other sounds are good but menwhile a little aged, but the the grand is top, and has wooden keys and 16 kg weight.@@arcticfoxstudios2018
@@arcticfoxstudios2018 ......and the keybet was a big disater on the first version.....who allowed this !!
Why does korg use that cheap black & white screen?
Seems like they all use the same screens on these synths nowadays.
Nords are so laughably overpriced.
This is an idiotic clickbait video 👎
