Yes Procedures only work if ya follow them! Shoulda listened to that guy!
'I'm sorry, I can't explain'. Yep, that is what gets people killed. And the 'stand down' order should have included 'Take Cover'.
According to the interwebs, this was not the first time this dude had come on base without being frisked. AQ recognized this, and used it.
I hate to say it but we got take responsibility for this..I mean it's common sense to search him.
He also was actually really really smart he was playing the us and aq
AQ has and always was a fiction.
He was a CIA agent who turned.
@@Asfandyar_ Actually he was an informant, and likely first popped up on the CIA's radar as a threat, considering they only knew who we was because he was arrested by the Jordanian government for suspected ties to Al-Qaeda. The CIA didn't really have an excuse, it's like they thought triple-agents were just a thing in spy movies.
and this is why there are security measures in place.. 🙄
Also why you don't put women in charge. They never should have let that guy onto the base.
@@sweeptheleg. this scene isn’t actually real. There was a woman named Jennifer Matthews but they were following protocol. The guy was a triple agent, they thought he was working for them
Why you don’t let women make decisions actually
@@sweeptheleg. did you even watch the movie because a mothefucker found bin laden’s house
@@sweeptheleg. You forget it was a woman who tracked down Bin Laden and helped get him caught and killed.
Love the one smart girl who takes off sprinting as soon he starts shouting praise. Never have that many close by when first checking a vehicle. That should have been obvious.
she died also - and also this happend IRL
@@martenerlebach7682 Don't doubt it, but she at least had the smart reaction. Never stand or shout orders at someone shouting things like that. Just make distance immidiately.
It's also easy to say a historical event is "obvious" when you're calmly typing it on a computer and not living through the actual event.
@@Twister6424 Except in this case I did live it for years. It was obvious to everyone one of us over there that you never had more than 1 or 2 in range when first checking a vehicle. Wasn't my job, but I also didn't stand anywhere close while they did it.
@@ericlorenzen4795 So you were born with that knowledge were you? You were never trained or learned from experience...that knowledge was just inside you? Take your time answering that question. See, I too do things like this for a living, and we're still learning things that future generations might one day call "obvious". But the bad guys get a "vote" on how things go and they usually vote to not make things "obvious" for us. Maybe you had an easy job standing around not doing anything?
3:30 Great acting from the black cat. Excellent foreshadowing.
I just love the smart girl in the background sprint off at full speed.
She died too sadly
Lol that was most fun part 🤣
I watched the scene so many times to see her run.
@@redswift31oh that is sad.
動物の危機回避の直感は個体差があるから!
3:30 that black cat right there foreshadows an omen.
Watch it just be a random cat that wandered onto the set
This was supposed to be a big deal. The intelligence they were hoping to get from this guy was thought to be so high level that a call was scheduled with Obama to brief him on it.
black cat was a nice touch
yep
Noticed that too.
When I was in the Marine Corps we would have never allowed such action to have taken place. Unfortunately, too many events like this happen in remote areas and the battlefield that never get reported. It's a trust no-one scenario unless it's your brother (or sister) in arms.
That what happens when women run things
lol, you mean Marines don't ignore basic security protocols whenever some chick stops texting long enough to scream out, "Leave him alone, he's my friend! I made a birthday cake for him!"
That part always cracks me up because it really does seem like something a girl-brain would do IRL.
@@gaguy1967 it was the male CIA agents idea to meet there.
Not that simple. And the movie doesn’t reflect reality. Do some research. It was several people who agreed to this protocol. Also they were going to eventually search him…and should have with just one person there, not the ~15 around him.
My uncle was stabbed by a fellow soldier in desert storm, there are a few brothers/sisters in arms you shouldn’t trust either
That’s crazy how they finally got the guy who was responsible for this
Yeah sure we did.... then we just DUMPED his body into the ocean with zero evidence of pictures or anything. Amazing how easy it is for the government to make people believe anything they want. Just like how "deadly" COVID is.
What do you mean?
Can you rephrase what you mean by that
😂😂😂 finally got the guy responsible. Yeah he blew up with the car. Or do you mean the guy who instructed him to do this?
Did they give him his well deserved "Glowie Remover" award?
Procedures only work when you follow them everytime
This is an example of why they preached about complacency. It only takes the one time to disregard procedures.
The car's driver, an Afghan external security chief, survived the blast but was killed by soldiers arriving on the scene who thought he was a terrorist.

Agents I worked with there were always cocky and careless. They thought they were special and didn't need to follow procedures. Always so proud of being exempt from rules military had to follow. Then things like this result.
That is interesting...we never referred to them as "agents". Just saying...
@@Twister6424 Oh get off it. Prefer Secret squirrels? Operators? I usually just called them by their names. End of the day they still had to take a crap like everyone else. They just had more funding for fancy toys and better living conditions.
@@ericlorenzen4795 First names usually work. And they weren't the only ones with more funding, toys and better living conditions. We just saw through the BS to get the job done...sorry if you guys were stuck with the goofy rules. I will say we could see the logic behind some of them though...
@@Twister6424 I kinda remember these types being called "snake eaters" back during the Vietnam era, same attitude.
Stop trying to be “that guy” dude ur not involved in anything your just trying get likes
The guy who blew them up was actually apparently really really smart and good at being slick. He was playing a triple agent with aq and the us for his own end game plan
which was blowing himself up?
Which was being one of the only dude who was able to attacked active cia officers on a cia blacksite. If you know anything about that side of the world you actually know that’s damn near the hardest thing to do.
He also was upset about the Israeli Palestine 🇵🇸 conflict too
One of the wise brothers died here and another wise brother had already died not too long ago and the military pulled a Saving private Ryan to get the youngest brother out of the country who was a marine at the time. The only surviving wise brother is beau wise. Jeremy wise (a seal & CIA) died here in this bombing.
The blonde (Elizabeth Curry Marie Hanson ) you see running also didn’t make it out of the blast zone in time.

@@tombless6596 still, why not try? It was the only thing left to do, wasn't it. Unless they did (?)
It's not like the movie which he's taking his time lol he probably not even completed one allahu Akbar
Thank God smartest person is alife. The cat.
Here carelessness got people besides herself killed.
I thought it was pretty stupid that the top intell allowed unknown foreigners into a complex that house military personnel. I was in Afghanistan, and we even military personnel couldn't even properly clear their weapons into a clearing barrel with buddy assistance looking down their chambers.
Or clear SAWs or 240s properly 🙃
The problem was he was known. This was not the first time he came on base. They trusted him.
@@wukanimation What? He wasn't known he was an manipulating enemy who fooled other manipulating morons in high ranking positions. Delusional narcissistic psychopaths/sociopaths will always fool other delusional narcissistic psychopaths/sociopaths. Just look at drumpf, and all of his other delusional narcissistic psychopaths/sociopaths who follow him regardless of the facts that he's an evil dictator that will turn on them if they say no. Fascist people always people will always have hate in their heads towards anyone who challenges their fragile ego's, and wants freedom.
@@wukanimation I don't see how that changes anything tbh. Unless he was CIA himself he should have always been checked, familiar or not. Hell, CIA should always be checked because your never know who could be compromised. Also apparently he was not even that familiar, if what they say is true they only recently started 'working' together. He was a turned enemy, one that used to be a true believer, literally a textbook example of someone who's the hardest to turn and cannot be fully trusted. It's really hard to believe they made this decision. It's not even letting him through the gate without frisking him, but not taking precaution after is what gets me. There was no reason for so many people greeting him without being checked, especially not chief of base herself.
"Do you know what the definition of a hero is? Someone who gets other people killed." Zoe Washburne
This is what happens when you want to be a hero
Did you several in the military or in the CIA???
You nailed it
It is extremely difficult to be critical of this woman - she is doing all she humanly can to achieve a critical objective. However the facts are she appallingly ignored protocol and as a result she and her colleagues died. Emotion [her excitement/enthusiasm] are NO excuse for her incorrect disastrous actions. She served her country 24/7 but being objective, applying facts = she failed tragically.
In real life however, it wasn’t just her fuckup. The Jordan intelligence agency and the rest of the CIA trusted this guy, so they ignored protocol as a sign of respect
She died stupidly, naively, and justifiably.
She was blinded by ambition.
She was unfit & incompetent, going by just fantasy & emotions, which blew up in her face, literally.
She was overconfident the whole movie and Jessican Chastains character told her that Al Qaeda isn't motivated by money. She should have listened.
Plz, (all) of the Action. 👏
Even a CIA officer, military security protocol cannot be compromise by a CIA officer.Military on that area have more experience than those CIA sitting in the office.
Great acting by the person playing Matthews. Love seeing her smile turn into a frown, although of course I feel bad for those involved IRL.
3:28 the black cat that scoots across the road, I wonder if that was intentional by the director or not. But it's definitely a bad omen
@@Defender78 I believe so. Nice attention to detail.
@@Defender78 Yeah, I also wondered about this and remember writing a similar comment years ago.
The black cat just strolls by in front of the car. Foreshadowing
Thought I was the only one that seen that
I was at that base for couple tours doing stuff and had no idea they were the Bin Laden work group. Shame it went down like that. I knew some of those folks that died. Also, that base was not as clean and orderly amd more rustic for sure. We never did use the pool due to the chances of getting the "itis"
I love how the blonde started running before the explosion 🤣
She actually died in the event in real life. Don’t see how it’s funny? She knew her life was in mortal danger once he shouted god is good. Did the only thing left to do.
The lady running is something I think about often. Like, she just gives into her primal instinct to flee from danger, without recourse as to what people will think afterwards. If it turned out to be nothing, then so what? People would just make a joke about her sprinting away. But in reality, everyone in that vicinity would be dead inside of a second so it doesn’t matter. It’s like thinking “I’m out for myself”, and unfortunately I think she was too late. RIP.
Ha. CIA got their @ss handed to them
When you think you know and have turned your enemy.
It was hard for me to understand this scene and how they just let him drive all the way up without some kind of search
They attempted to follow the procedure. However, the woman who was present convinced them to allow him entry. In the past, he has provided assistance to the United States. She regarded him as a trustworthy source. With her ambition and you have a woman who was dedicated to attaining her goal.
As a result of her actions, she lost her life and caused the deaths of many others on base.
My mom once told me that America adapts to change by the mistakes and tragedies made along the way. It is probably because of this incident that we now have stricter controls on who enters a military base.
@@Ranger215able Blaming a woman is a pretty weak argument...especially since many a dudes have made many of the same mistakes many times over. This one event isn't the reason why we have stricter controls. Look back as far as the Beirut Bombing in 1983.
I've worked security for some high profile folks. Sadly, bypassing security because the person coming through the gate is "important" and "cleared to be trusted" happens more often than you think; though the results are almost never like this.
@@Twister6424 wow you are an idiot. Taking the term woman out of context. Yes there have been men who made mistakes that threw our country into the frying pan more time than not.
But maybe you should read little more on what i said. The term probably must have been overpassed in your attempt to start an argument. And if you have not watched the movie, then how about watch it before you make such a wild punch at me.
@@Twister6424he didn't blame her for being a woman, he stated clearly her ambition and dedication to the goal caused her to overlook personal safety of herself and those around her, which got them killed. That is exactly what happened. You only focused on the fact he identified her as a woman.

"And then I realized… like I was shot… like I was shot with a diamond… a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God… the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we. Because they could stand that these were not monsters. These were men… trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love… but they had the strength… the strength… to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral… and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling… without passion… without judgment… without judgment. Because it’s judgment that defeats us. " --Colonel Kurtz, _Apicalypse Now_

This is one of the most stupid decisions by a CIA agent. Overriding security protocols just for her emotions and excitement.
Also, so what if those bad guys were spooked? The next treeline or settlement isn’t nearby, so if they get spooked in the camp entrance, then they can’t run anywhere near to evade getting captured. Those bad guys are “in prison and in your control” the moment they set foot around 1km from your camp’s walls, CIA agent was a baby 😤
They weren't trying to capture him. He was Bin Laden's doctor. They were trying to befriend him so they can use him to poison Bin Laden.
@@bilawalbilal480 I wasn’t saying they are trying to capture the bad guys. Read what I said. If those guys get spooked then it is because they are already hiding something, and if they try to run away during a security checkpoint, they just showed their true colours and they don’t have anywhere to run to. So there’s no need to clear them from security checks. The CIA had the better cards here, but they didn’t play these cards right.
@@jan_07 Again, the reason why they didn’t wanna spook them was because they were trying to befriend them. Capturing them wasn’t the purpose. Two Al-qaeeda operatives would definitely get spooked by looking at US soldiers pointing guns at them.

What's that instrument? Armenian duduk?
It does sound like it! I’ve tried to find the score for this soundtrack but it’s impossible to find; the closest I get is “ethnic woodwinds” in a contemporaneous article. Even an interview with Desplat doesn’t mention it.
That said, the duduk is indigenous to the general region. The Tula would be another, but that’s getting really into the weeds!
It is a bit too rich to be a shakuhachi or traditional Chinese woodwind (which I associate as being reedy, and a bit sharp on the ear). Definitely not a didgeridoo, so what’s left?
