Absolutely the most enjoyable adventure/travel/sailing channel on UA-cam ! The work you guys have put into and continue to do to Teulu is fantatstic to watch.
I’m very impressed with the way you go about doing all your own work, learning as you go along. It takes a great deal of bravery and application to take on projects that you’re not expert in.
I would have reacted the exact same as Zach. The rough edges were almost comical. Zach could have easily been a victim of Candid Camera! However, Becka's response was surprisingly endearing. Becka was spot on. The added character and story telling substance is priceless. Becka, thank you for keeping us all in the correct perspective and healthy frame of mind.
I can't believe Zach would accept a simple aluminum plate with those imperfection's. That fabrication shop must have apprentice worker's as employee's?
I absolutely love you guys!!! You’ve become experts on damn near every piece of that beautiful Teulu. Being an older man, with kids about your guys ages, I just want you to know how proud I am of you guys!! You are amazing ppl with the greatest attitudes and most caring hearts. I love you guys but have one complaint/request. Please post something every Monday. I get SO worried when I don’t see you guys on a Monday. I always think the worst has happened. Even if it’s a 5 minute unedited monologue just letting us know you guys are OK!!
Your support really warms our hearts! We're grateful for fans like you who care so much. We’ll make an effort to share something every Monday to keep you in the loop! We do also do daily updates on our Patreon (www.patreon.com/c/teulutribe)😊
It is a shame that these blogs are so far behind, as I’m sure people would be able to give you additional advice, like drilling into plastic cabinets or thin-ish wood/laminate you need a set of ‘step drills’ and some ‘perma-grit’ cutting discs and files for wood and glass, MS4 grease for cables and antennas, red Lucas ‘O’ ring grease name says it all. Anyway it nice to see you struggling but persisting and winning, love the blog series. Keep your heading😂
OMG - i am sooo excited about these changes and its not even my boat. Cant imagine how excited you guys are- Santa really delivered. No more stalking other boats😂
youve gone and bloody done it!!! I Just want to say, i really look forward to your videos. Its become an integral part of my week! keep up the amazing vlogs its such amazing, informative and entertaining content. I am sooo looking forward to you pacific adventures. Be safe and have fun!
Lots of Christmas Prezzys. If you place a depth sounder in a glass glass- jar of water and place it against the hull it will work. So you might find there was no hole drilled through the hull where you removed the old one, but a we’ll planned depth gauge.
Love your videos! And especially the tech updates! One suggestion is maybe put ceramic tint on your big saloon windows! I have 5% tint on my truck and it’s barely perceptible but it cuts so much of the heat from the cab… Keep up with the amazing progress!
What an amazing time to be alive! 30 years ago you would have needed a team of specialist technicians to install that gear ( if it even existed?) And also you are making the money to buy the stuff by posting videos of installing it on the internet. What will the next 30 years bring? Your voyage is powered by the avalanche of technological change just as much as it is by the wind! I think your ability to adapt to technological change will be just as challenging as your adventures to strange and distant lands will be!
I love your attitude Becka. " Radar plate looks dinged and scratched and a bit home made?...It matches the look of the boat!" I understand Zach's scoffing about the quality. " I mean we paid for that!" 😊
In ten days time I turn 50 years old, so when you mention that your boat is only 40 years old, it's good to hear that it's so new, because 40 years old isn't too and just like 50 years old isn't too old.
Wow well done guys doing all that sailing without all that kit, I’ve done a fraction of the sailing you guys have but the chart plotter was my biggest aid in what I have done, the plotter paired with autopilot is like having an extra crew member for me, enjoy 👌
I've been following you both since the very start when you both knew nothing about boats until you bloody did it lol I am amazed and so proud of the sailor's you both have become. The way you both jump in and do everything yourselves is fantastic and some of the wee spaces Becka gets into makes me cringe encase you get stuck. Keep doing what you are doing because you are doing it right I love your channel. ❤❤
Nothing like the second hand anxiety of watching someone else drill holes through their boats hull... I'm so pleased to see all the improvements and upgrades to Teulu... Even if they are an artistically rustic radar mount made by local craftspeople... So boojie! 😂😂 Amazing work she is coming together beautifully!
Here's a challenge for you... next passage, let's have a video on comparing dead reckoning and bearings with your electronics tyoys skills. And then summarise what you learned
I'm such an equipment geek. When you panned to the table I was grinning just like you two. This really was a fun and successful episode, except for the rain. That was hysterical. Who would have thought. Be well you guys!!!
Thanks for your thoughtful comment! We're glad you enjoyed the episode, even with the unexpected rain. It's always fun to share our love for equipment with fellow geeks!
Wow! Significant upgrades , your going to enjoy having better data used to plan ahead ,the Doppler Radar is going to let you optimize your sail plan early while it’s safe and much easier. The chart plotter is a very nice bit of kit to have , I am in my 70’s now and even though there was reliable GPS when I was at sea my habit was to do a “sun run sun “ at high noon every day, I would shoot a set of stars at nautical sunrise every few days and used the HO249 tables to reduce them to a cocked hat position . I don’t sail anymore but still have my sextant and my mariners coronagraph wristwatch . I enjoy watch you two explore the world and learn and develop as you go along ! Keep it up your doing great things and creating wonderful memories!

So much work getting accomplished. I don’t blame you for doing a little head scratching on that new plate Zack. Everyday I wonder where you really are. Several months into sailing season already. I guess I’ll find out all in good time. Stay safe. ❤️🙏
Nice evolution in safety system is simply amazing the upgrades brings assurance of trust I loved when Zack was in Becka`s wardrobe he looked so adorable and I had to loop this video it was too funny !!!...👍👍
I am so blooming proud of the both of you! These improvements will not only give you more confidence it will allow us to rest with a bit more as well! Once again you are knocking it out of the park! Much love to you both!
Very good job you two. You've done so much with this sailing vessel since you first got her in the UK. I really like it that both of you are actually doing the hard work. Like there's a lot of You Tube channels that only one does the work, but the other seems to always say us. How ever when watching their videos is actually only shows the 1 doing the 99.999 % of the work. I'm impressed. As for myself I wouldn't know where to start or what to do. Looking forward to next video
"I've GOT IT.. WOOO HOOO"! Sentence of the year! If you can give us an update on knee injury I'd like to know. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Even though you don't know me I've gotten to know you both and worry becka not taking it easy if she should be. Anyways your channel is my absolute favorite! I love how you both get on with each other!
Thank you for your concern! Becka is well on her way to recovering, but we’ll make sure to give a full update on her knee injury soon. We appreciate your support!😁
Make sure you get a water resistant mattress cover just in case. Got the future, get a small wet dry shop vac to vacuum any water that gets into the mattress to help to get it to dry out faster. Great job on the installs! a stay safe!
Hi Guys! Just out of curiosity... did the metal shop just chew that plate out of some scrap of metal they had laying around- like with their teeth?! They should be properly embarrassed sending a piece like that out to a paying customer! Wow! Nice work on the electronics suite though! Looks fantastic and it will be a joy to use! I still have to install my radar, side scan sonar, wind and chart plotter. It has all been sitting in my garage for 4 years now... sigh... :( Fair winds, following seas and all the best from California! 🧡

The depth sounding unit is excellent, but the paddlewheel will eventually jam with marine growth. The easiest way to clean it is to pull the unit from the thru-hull casing. This is a simple task when on the hard, but a bit more challenging when afloat. I would suggest assembling a maintenance kit of two silicone or wood hull plugs (truncated cones), a recycled toothbrush (or small diameter pipette brush), replacement wire, and an extra tube of lubricant. Pack these in a plastic-mesh bag and tie the bag to a pad eye mounted alongside the depth-sounder unit (to keep the bag floating off to an inaccessible part of the bilge). With a bit of practice, you will be able to pull, plug, clean, unplug and reinstall quickly and safely, leaving you only a pint (or so) of seawater to sponge out of the bilge.
If your bed's mattress is made of foam, it will take a long time to dry. We left ours at a shop that sells seating for boat cushions and beds. It took 6 months for it to dry completely. We had them cut a rough foam shape identical to our original mattress until we could go back and pick ours up.

I didn't see any chafing protection on the radar wires exiting the mast. I would expect this to become an issue if not done due to wind and rocking.
