Fabulous work, great work well done congratulations 👏
Such perfectionism and self discipline, such mental as well as physical stamina to keep striving for excellence the way you do. An affirmation and example to the rest of us sloths who compromise and give up and flub our way to mediocrity. Thank you for setting such high standards of achievement for us ..!
Ah, thank you for the kind words, but don’t let our “excellence” in this project fool you LOL There are plenty of other projects where we’re the first to bend the rules and make it work!
@ Even so, you are an inspiration. Because of your hard work, and your patience, and above all your modesty.
DITTO!!! Love your videos - each one you strive for quality! 😇
Not only have you mastered probably four languages, but you are disciplined in many things including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and also gardening. Then, you have your day job that probably takes you to another discipline. You and your wife are amazing! Happy New Year to you and your family!
Happy new year to you and your family. Thank you for sharing another video. I love watching the progress you’re making on this old house.
Happy new year!
🎉🥳🥂🍾💃🕺🍸Happy new year !!!!!
It's always nice to get a new toy.
Especially when it makes your work easier.
I'm glad the new sander is working for you.
Illia is such a craftsman! Congratulations with the new machine, can wait to see all of them ready and install! It’ll look amazing ❤
I have never seen a drum sander like that before. I am so jealous. Love your work. I thought you had an edge planer, guess I was wrong. Even without it your work is great kiddo.
Happy New year, keep up the good work, having worked with a lot of Oak do your finished sand at 120 grit this will allow the surface to take the finished stain. You can also purchase a range of furniture wax in desired colour this will allow you to fill in any finishing nail holes and around wooden pegs. Hope this helps
While we are both engineers and I understand fully the quest for perfectionism, I’m stumped on this one. These are floor joists, not some piece of fine furniture. These joists will be overhead on a 10’ tall ceiling, not where anyone can reach and touch them. From a distance, they will look beautiful! Keep in mind that many of the boards are checked, have knots, splits and/or other natural blemishes. These imperfections will be noticeable from the floor below, not that you spent endless hours sanding these boards to furniture grade appearance. Same thing with the different stains. Nobody can tell the difference! Don’t drive yourself crazy with the minutiae. Marina will be claiming that you’re OCD. Crack on! Remember, you’re rebuilding a barn, not an art exhibit! Happy New Year.
Wishing you, your family and the Catspector a Happy & Healthy 2025 xx
Hi. Love the channel! All the best to you and Marina.
Can I just make one suggestion? My husband is a long time wood guy and he noticed that you were storing or stacking the wood on only 2 beams to support it off the floor. He says you should always use 3 to keep it from sagging in the middle. I hope that helps you. Much love to you all and all the best in the new year!!🎉❤🎉
Ohhhh, I am jealous!!! you have needed that sander for quite a while, It's good that you folks finally can afford to get one or a company saw that you needed one and gifted it with review. Any which way, it will be the difference between night and day with that and save your physical wear and tear too. Have FUN
I pray you all had a Wonderful Holiday!
The dust can come through the cloth bags of your dust collector. Many users construct a sealed compartment with an outdoor vent. Commercial dust collection systems in the US are supposed to be on the outside of the building.
Thank you!
Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
Have a safe and Happy New Year!
You are my favorite "family web site" and I wish all that you would need to begin a new year !!! Love from Burgundy
Happy New Year! Greetings from Germany! We come from Republic of Moldova and watch you chanel with big pleasure.
Well done ❤ some of your jobs are repetitive and long but the better the preparation, the better the finish x we're all still encouraging you x ❤❤❤
That sander makes the work definitively easier and quicker, also compared with a belt sander there is no risk of getting grooves in you work as the drum is wider than your timber.
wood dust is hard on the lungs. but that is a fine beast of a machine!
Marina and Illia, Happy New Year to you, your children and especially the Catspectors🎉 I hope that 2025 is a very good year for all of you❣️🙏🏻✨
Helps to have the right tools 👍Happy New Year , cheers 🍻
Maybe you can use several boards together, if 1 side is too small for single sending?
Thank you for your videos )) Happy new year to all of the family!
Thank you so much for this years videos, I've really enjoyed them. Happy New Year to you all and much luck in the coming year! 🎉
Happy new year to you and your Family
One reason for the dust can be the Bending of the tube.
Every bend of the Tube you lose power of the airstream. So its not strong enough to Remove the dust. The shorter the Tube the better. It was the same in my Workshop.
In the conditions you have, the most economical and safest thing is to work outside, [if it's not too cold and it's not raining], and take the sander outside.
Happy New Year Illia and Marina! Love watching your progression of your farm house. You’ve accomplished so much , it amazing! God bless you and your family.
You are very patient, Happy new year to all of the family!
Best wishes for a happy healthy new year to you all.
Wishing you and your family all the best in the New Year?
I look forward to watching all the hard work you are putting into your home. 🎉🎊🍻
Happy New Year! Happiness and health to you! With love from Russia!
Congrats on your new tool. I wish you many happy hours using it. Happy New Year!
Another new toy to play with Illiad, it`s better than doing it the old way. Happy New Year to you both & to your families, friends & subs.
Looking good. The drum sander is a great addition to your shop. Happy new year to you and yours!
Holy cow! Looks like you’ve got about 400 board feet of lumber at about $10/, that’s about $4000 worth of lumber.
Keep the good work and Happy New Year for you and your family 🙏🏽
Happy New Year 🎉🍾🎄🌟🎉
Sometimes finishers wet the surface of the wood to raise the grain. Then they do the final finish.
Happy New Year 🎆 to all of you.
I have the same drum sander in my shop, although it's an older version. You'll get a lot of utility out of it with the large number of surfaces you need to deal with. Be aware you don't want to sand beyond 150 for the Rubio Monocoat.
Add some lockable wheels to the Sanders base to aid in moving it around. My favorite stain color is "Early American", check it out!
I have followed you from day 1, your video content has being great Have Happy a New Year and come back refreshed for 2025, see you then.
You really needed that sander.
Joy to see you and very good work. Happy new year.
Happy New Year filled with health and happiness 😊!!!

Vielen Dank für die lieben Worte, Anita! Ebenfalls alles Liebe und Gute für das neue Jahr! 🙌🎉
Happy Healthy New Year
Great tool, and a great job! ♥️♥️♥️
200 grit is a very fine grit, it’s what I use to finish paintable wood. Problem with going to that fine of grit is it closes the wood pores, making oil harder to absorb. With your project, I actually liked the little bit of roughness. It was closer to the original. I think 150 grit would be perfect for you.
When using painting samples holding the samples up in the postion the wood with be as when put in place is something that as always worked for me as the light hits it differently laying down. HAPPY NEW YEAR and may 2025 be filled with joy, laughter and peace.
Bonne année, Illia et Marina. J'ai hâte que les éléments du plafond et du sol soient réunis et que vous puissiez admirer le fruit de votre travail.
Happy New Year 🎊🍻🌟👏👍🍀💐

Why did the drum sander bring a band-aid to work?
It heard things might get a little rough! 😄
Happy New Year 🎄🎁⛄

@@DeHoeveOldBelgianFarm 🥰🥰🍻🍻
Looks good Happy New Year
Happy new year 🎉
Dont you have to keep the same number of passing on all boards? To keep the thickness
You can probably sand two pieces at a time!
@11:19 Yes, it's visible in the hose, there is dust left. That indicates your dust extraction is not adequate enough for this machine.
Are the other hoses closed?👴🤷♂
Happy new year ❤🎉🎉🎉❤
Happy new year!!
I know it is selfish and not a first priority, especially after all the wonderful and amazing things you both have done on your farm renovation but every time you go through that door ,🚪 that beat up, red painted mottled pealing door to your workshop I think it looks like a 200 yr old barn door that shrank to the poor opening it is. Scrape it, sand it, oil it, paint it (Even red) and put a cool logo on it, like: "Abandon all hope, All ye that enter here", with a picture of Anika inspecting a hinge with a magnifying glass🔍 and De Hoeve 🍻 in gold lettering on top. (you already have a nice one for your shirt but hey, something new for the door) Most people don't know that "Dutch" De Hoeve means : "Farmstead" in English.😉
Happy new year, wouldn't your planer do the job of getting it smooth?
Why don't you make a workshop across the street in the bigger building? It's big and perfect for a large workshop. A little renovation and that's it.

I DON’T WANT TO SCARE YOU, BUT I WANT TO WARN YOU!
You have to be very careful and inform yourself well about the mixture of sawdust and air, because at a certain concentration of sawdust and air, an explosive atmosphere is formed, and you are really riding a bomb. I don't think you want to demolish your house, but to renovate it, and even more so to suffer a major accident.
Any electric spark at a certain amount of dust suspended in the room can cause a major fire, especially since there are wood dust deposits everywhere.
First of all, very good ventilation is required. Don't forget that all your equipment is electrically operated, and you have sockets and switches everywhere, which can be loaded with sawdust, and become a real hazard. In carpentry workshops where there is such a large amount of dust, electrical sockets and other special equipment for explosive atmospheres are used.
I really like your determination to do a super quality job.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Oh boy, yeah keep your breathing mask on while you're sanding and see if you can blow out or collect all the accumulating sawdust.
👍
❤😊
I think you should wear ear protection….
Happy New Year!
