I have to disagree with Killer Mike on this. You do have freedom of speech, but you don't have the right to confess to crimes regardless if it's in the form of art or not. That woman's article was a satirical guide on how to kill your husband at worst not a confession to a actual crime. There's a difference. Now if you are making up lyrics that's different, but actually mentioning specifics of real crimes should be allowed to be used in court. I don't think they should be allowed to use lyrics that were written before the actual crimes happened though. That falls under entrapment.🤔
What is killer Mike saying? If they killed ppl then they where they need to be. “Stop snitching” is not smart neither “street codes” this shit has done more harm than the crack error having black kids thinking this is life and wonder where this mind set comes from. I wonder how they will feel if the victim is their relative and some guy is talking about the crime. The police leave out critical details about a crime and whoever is STUPID enough to rap about those details should definitely be brought up on charges

We’re congratulating Newsom on making it harder to crack down on gang violence when we just lost another rapper to what class? That’s right, gang violence. FOH. We’re lost.
Law enforcement can and should use rap lyrics as "actionable intelligence" ie basis for further investigation because freedom of speech and artists expression has its limits and or consequences!
I disagree that young lady just tried to explain this Killer Mike but he wanted to deflect.. she tried explain the consequences of your freedom of speech. if it's proven that your lyrics match an actual crime. "Actions has consequences".
A song isn’t a confession, just like a movie isn’t video evidence. If he did snitch on himself, good now get fingerprints, fine the murder weapon, and DNA evidence. Stop looking for shortcuts, you still have to do real detective and forensic work. BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT
Why are people clapping for that? Your neighborhoods are a nightmare and your clapping for people to get away with crimes destroying your neighborhood. If you're stupid enough to admit to crimes in a song you should get the consequences.
Prove they committed the crime with their art. They shouldn't be difficult to do. They had to prove the whyte lady off her husband without using her words she wrote.
The title of this video is a little slippery. The issue shouldn't be when to use lyrics, but how to get law enforcement to stop using them, altogether, regardless of what's said. Art should be off limits in investigations, full stop.
Mike is right. It about tequity. The law is made up of precedents and it really doesn't matter if they did the crime or not. That is not the point. It is supposed to be administered the same across the broad. Its supposed to be blind. Arts forms should be out of bounds. This is how the law has been used against minorities forever. I would rather a guilty person go free than put someone in jail for nonsense. The law shouldnt be administered using feelings or fear.
If Stragalee murdered someone, he should be in prison. If he just wrote a song about it, he should not. Killer Mike's perspective is part (not all, but some) of why people think that black people have a predilection toward crime. It's not true. If someone committed a crime, we think they should be punished. The problem is that our people are over punished for crimes and assumed to be guilty when we are not guilty. This is different from actually committing a crime. That's not cool.
Why are people still trying to spin this like LYRICS are why Thugga and Gunna are in jail????? I mean, damn, are we gonna just act like 50 shootings/murders don't have anything to do with it??????

The issue that I don't understand that Black people still seem to not understand is we will not, nor have we EVER, or ever yet, be treated equitably and equally under the law here. I don't understand why rappers cling to foolishly "hoping" their lyrics can't be used against them..its just not wise. It's a fool's game. Big facts bruh
I understand your prospective
. But Freedom of speech . . . I don't listen to those artist and agree with much in that genre but we are in America . . .
That has nothing to do with freedom of speech.
@@Twixy-513 you can say whatever you want, its probably not a good idea to say you did a crime that then the police can go find you actually did through evidence.
I dont agree with Tara politically but I’m 100% in solidarity with what she said. These rap lyrics are getting out of control. We are so much better than this
He explains how his momma taught him not to snitch while snitching on his momma 😂
tbf....its already public info
That sister makes too much sense for this show.
Y’all tripping!!! We need to stop these crazy murders and acts on the streets. If putting lyrics on trail to stop this generation of rappers then so be it because they ain’t going to listen to rappers that don’t make the money they are making especially when they ain’t listening to their parents. Let the judge babysit them all
Killer mike lack of accountability is alarming
Welcome to the black community
Not a lack of accountability yet a keeping our Constitutional rights intact. Freedom of speech.
@@kimberlynroberts7059 there are actually bodies on the street because of this beef it’s not just lyrics. To say free ysl when they have multiple murders on their hands is very strange to champion
@@rellfree6400 what happened to innocent until proven guilty? I'm not saying he did it or not but we have a legal system that has to play out. That's like holding a person for years until they plead out or the law figures it out, that in itself is against the law. Khalid Browder killed himself from situations like that.
@@rellfree6400 there were bodies on the street from east coast west coast beef, did courts decide to lock up Biggie and Pac? No.
It’s so uncomfortable when someone is trying to talk, but everyone keeps ignoring and talking over them.
Men. Amiright?!
Killer Mike is wrong af. If you say in your song “I killed XYZ with certain gun and certain area”, and the body is where you said it was, bullet shells match the gun you spoke of and you even named the person, your suspect number 1. You can’t have it both ways. Other dude was right, the first amendment protects you from going to jail but it doesn’t protect you from being held accountable, if your lyrics matches the description of the crime. Gavin Newsom is pandering to win his seat again as mayor so he’s turning California into a lawless state where rappers get killed and the killers are set free the next day.
Killer Mike is in a conflict - talking about helping people and defending the crazy shit said in rap music - the woman is making sense
So the ppl that was the cause of murder and crime doubling in the city should be released. SMH
I love Killer Mike 😂🤣😂
Great topic, but buddy on the right couldn't contribute to the conversation.
I wrote my last comment before I wrote #TaraSetmayer. Thank you for her on this panel.
"Rap Snitches, tellin' all they business/Sittin in the courtroom and be they own star witness/Do you see the perpetrator?/ Yea I'm right here!/ Fuck around and get the whole label sent up for years"
Lawwwd I love me some Killer Mike!! 👏😊💯
I could listen to Killer Mike all day! Endless gems!
Not really
i dont wanna see killer mike on tv, he needs to be somewhere mailing my greenwood bank card, smh 1 year and i still aint got it
I have to disagree with Killer Mike on this.
I'm glad y'all uploaded the longer version
Thanks for watching!
What is killer Mike saying? If they killed ppl then they where they need to be. “Stop snitching” is not smart neither “street codes” this shit has done more harm than the crack error having black kids thinking this is life and wonder where this mind set comes from. Killer Mike should know better…these kids don’t see it as entertainment they see that shit as the way to live life…excuses need to stop.
Gotta go with killer Mike on this 1
I wonder how they will feel if the victim is their relative and some guy is talking about the crime. The police leave out critical details about a crime and whoever is STUPID enough to rap about those details should definitely be brought up on charges
Mike is trying to minimize what she is saying but he is contributing to the problem in this instance. He is trying to walk on 2 sides of a fence. Either you are for the community or against in regards to having progress
I love Killer Mike, but I don't think anyone is taking away anyone's 1st Amendment rights... just using it against them if they choose to tell on themselves in a song.
SMH, they act like the Feds just 🎶 to the songs and saying o get em he said he murder someone. Clearly they have been doing some investigating on these rappers. Especially this new Generation, so no they not just listening to a song and building the case off a song. U have to have proof and if these rappers are putting details of criminal active that they or a crew member did in a song and the lyrics match the crimes, then hell yea locked they ass up
Thank you Mike!!! Iykyfk
Killer Mike just lied stagger Lee is about a man killing another man because he took Stagger Lee’s girl
and stagger lee isn't a real person, its like saying someone wrote a book about a murder that's fiction then saying its the same as OJ's "if did it book"
I love Killer Mike. But I have to completely disagree with him here.
We can not allow these dudes to commit actual crimes but then go out here and spit a hot 16 about it and say those words should not be used against them. This isnt about snitching. And this is not about a constitutional right.
Free speech doesn't protect you from admitting to a crime lol. Bad take.
lol killer mike reeeeally trying to justify the chi drill kill cycle of tik-tok to rap video to gettin' caught slackin'
Why not just admit your lyrics are lies?
If that's tge truth....🤫
wow...killer mike is incredibly effective. Great communicator
That lady is right!! Lyrics and responsibility!
The lady wasn’t listened to. Why have her there if she doesn’t get heard?
Music is to influential and that killing and so on is bad for the community
Killer Mike is sooooo full of it sometimes. Annoying af, fr…
We’re congratulating Newsom on making it harder to crack down on gang violence when we just lost another rapper to what class? That’s right, gang violence. FOH. We’re lost.
Agree its sad. Our ppl are lost
Would they put Eminem on trial for his lyrics
Our community never cares about the victim.
Law enforcement can and should use rap lyrics as "actionable intelligence" ie basis for further investigation because freedom of speech and artists expression has its limits and or consequences!
lyrics should not be used unless they have a witness confirming the validity of each line
The like is for Mike bringing history, clarity, and class/power analysis, to the issue.
Good conversation is all I can say.
Killer Mike for president
Ahhh love me some killer Mike on a panel, dude will stand by his shit
Great discussion and panel
Killer Mike has lost weight. He looks great.
I disagree that young lady just tried to explain this Killer Mike but he wanted to deflect.. she tried explain the consequences of your freedom of speech. if it's proven that your lyrics match an actual crime. "Actions has consequences".
CTG needs Charleston White on this show!!
A song isn’t a confession, just like a movie isn’t video evidence. If he did snitch on himself, good now get fingerprints, fine the murder weapon, and DNA evidence. Stop looking for shortcuts, you still have to do real detective and forensic work. BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT
killer mike is awesome listening to his ideas and thought process is awesome
Why are people clapping for that? Your neighborhoods are a nightmare and your clapping for people to get away with crimes destroying your neighborhood. If you're stupid enough to admit to crimes in a song you should get the consequences.
Facts
Prove they committed the crime with their art. They shouldn't be difficult to do. They had to prove the whyte lady off her husband without using her words she wrote.
@@baller0724 uhmm they use both. When you're suspected of a crime and give details in a song you should be in prison for being an idiot.
LOVE Tara. hands down had the BEST comments. Black Girl Magic.....(even if she is a conservative)
Agreed!
She's been on the View. Love her
Tara brought that energy.
Mike's one example doesn't contradict her point. Louder doesn't mean correct.
The title of this video is a little slippery. The issue shouldn't be when to use lyrics, but how to get law enforcement to stop using them, altogether, regardless of what's said. Art should be off limits in investigations, full stop.
Keeping it real shouldn't be a problem in rap. You don't HAVE TO rap about crime.
Ehhhhhhhhh at some point we have to stop being ok with murder. If you don’t kill anybody and there’s nothing to compare the lyrics to
If Stragalee murdered someone, he should be in prison.
Helping the community by bailing out people when done crime that's helping the community wow 🤔🤔🤔🤔
alot of people smoked a von pack on their song........but we know exactly who killed von though and it ain't none of them ninjas smoking on a von pack🤷🏾♂️ it proves nothing
Lmaooo ...Its funny cuz Tara Setmayer use to be candace owens b4 Candace owens... this rebrand is Crazzzzzzy
Killer Mike holding that grin when she said "I don't know what's going on today" wanting to say I actively make lyrical music today. Lol
I fuck wit killer mike but he wrong on Larry !
Imagine applauding criminals getting away from the crimes they've committed that affects countless people. I swear I hate Charlamagne.
Shout-out killer mike. & I'm glad Charlemagne is on Comedy Central didn't know I needed this show
The issue that I don't understand that Black people still seem to not understand is we will not, nor have we EVER, or ever yet, be treated equitably and equally under the law here. I don't understand why rappers cling to foolishly "hoping" their lyrics can't be used against them..its just not wise. It's a fool's game. And the constitutional right leans more towards criticizing the govt and avoiding POLITICAL imprisonment as a result, not snitching on yourself🙄🙄. Sometimes I wonder about if rappers and their advocates are rooted in reality..
This is such an amazing show. I gotta go get this on Paramount Plus! Great job 👏
Not really much else or that at tho.
