Jordan you killed it and Leonard(C-god) killed it for putting this together. Also respect to the woman who came to the show who probably knew she would get killed. It takes courage to do that and talk about what you believe. I hope she grew from this experience has a better perspective of the world we live in.
@Draya Mitchell she said students shouldn't be taught to focus so much on the skin color of their peers. They counter argued with "would you trade places with a random black person". Then talked about a number of other black people that wouldn't want to trade places with a random black person. And he himself said he wouldn't trade places with a random white person. This whole thing was a joke.
@@JayTac1 first I didn’t say she was wrong I said I hope she grew from this experience and that she can see the issue from a different perspective. Just like Jordan and Leonard probably took away something from the conversation. I agree that she made some good points, but made me re-evaluate how I talk to my kids about this type of subject.
I don't think Jordan or Charla killed anything. She was invited there to speak, but they weren't planning on listening to her anyway. This wasn't the right setting for such a discussion. It was her vs everybody else in that room on limited time and I don't think they granted her the time to state her views properly. Almost every time she paused to think, Jordan or Charla stepped in. Imo that made it more difficult for here to state her views clearly. And she failed to so. ... Up until the last minute. I understood from her that she agreed with them, but just thinks it should be taught differently. But there definitely should be a better platform for these discussions. As a man that likes to hear both sides of the argument, I thought this was trash.
That’s why they should bring a black person with a different point of view. She can’t mention how our kids aren’t graduating, and our fucked up culture.
@@MrG22333 she didnt bring enough artillery...dude tried and thought he was going somewhere with that 3/5th's question and asking like 3 times...mf learned 3/5this in the 80's..it was never white washed from me..and no that has nothing to do with the flaws of CRT
I'm a Black woman, and I was actually very curious to hear more about what the arguments against CRT are, specifically, and what problems the critics perceive, and whether there's any merit. But this woman wasn't allowed to actually finish a thought or point sooo...yeah 🙄
I think the whole discussion might have been better if they had started with a base explanation and agreement on what CRT is and what it teaches.... sometimes it seemed like they weren't discussing from the same definition.
She spoke and didn't finish her explanations and statements as well. There's plenty of channels and docs on this subject this may not be the best show for it.
Anyone who has any confusion regarding the fact that CRT teaches Racism, is a lost soul. Teaching children to judge others by their skin color versus the content of their character as MLK dreamed, is the very definition of racism. No politician, educator, administrator knows who I am! They do not have the authority to tell me that I'm an oppressor due to my lack of melanin. They can fuck off, and they won't be indoctrinating my child either. The fact that you have to start off by saying "I am a black woman" says everything one needs to know. Whether you're black or not should be absolutely irrelevant.
Please no one engage the ignorance in the replies to this comment. These people CHOOSE to hear what they want to hear and there is nothing WE say that will change their hate. Our children have gone to their schools and been fed lies and half truths which left them ill prepared for the world ahead. Now when we say we want our children to be taught facts and truths as soon as their brains can comprehend, that is somehow forcing their children to feel guilty. I have NEVER been responsible for how someone else feels and this is no different. Feelings and emotions belong to the individual...if the feel guilt or disappointment in their people, well those are THEIR feelings. I can't force someone to feel something that is not in their heart. So arguing with the very people who refuse to accept their role and responsibility in all of this is dumb. #DOBETTERWHITEWASHERS ✊🏾❤🖤💚
The United Daughters of the Confederacy shaped education in the South to present the Confederates as heroes. That’s the reason people still fly the flag today in 2021 as “southern pride”. Sure it’s been a min since that time period but to act like we still aren’t affected by the past is just ignorant at this point. That’s just one example I’m sure y’all can think of thousands. Thanks Charlemagne for having these tough conversations. Peace and Blessings to everyone
You are correct but they also fly that flag in the nw. And they don’t understand how confuse they are. Ain’t no since debating the insane. Especially when they don’t know what crt is and they lying on the kids.
They should do what they want on their property and be proud of their heritage and their traditions no matter what it was...it isnt your job to take away from their freedoms. I'm black and loved this open conversation, and appreciate the courage of Maud Maron to be on a show with most likely a black audience, black host, and sitting with another black guest and speak on the unpopular side of the debate. We need more of this to understand each other. Great points from both her and Jordan Carlos!!
Great topic of conversation, great host, and great guests. I would love to have heard her finish all of her sentences without being cut off. @@calsarchandler6851 while i agree she didn't get to finish all sentences. she didn't have a vision and so she wasn't able to complete her own thoughts because there was no basis to what she was saying. she like most of the anti are in fact looking at things through their lense of race and then using that narrative to try and hinder correct and truthful history. ps. i understood what you were saying about her "vision" just adding to it
I thought the same thing. I think it's important to hear the perspective of those that you don't agree with. Making jokes and cutting them off mid sentence might make for great entertainment, but it doesn't encourage healthy dialogue.
I was called the hard R in elementary school 1st grade. Only black kid in the school. We need this because now a days I feel very depressed and have 0 friends. My childhood best friend called another brother the hard R right in front of me, which ended our friendship. All of this is 1000% real not exaggerated at all. Very sad.
What states and which schools are ACTUALLY teaching this....I would LoVE to attend a KINDERGARTEN class...pretty sure NONE is being taught...it's a COLLEGE class....for LAWYERS! 😖
It sounds like she agrees in the truth, but disagrees in how she's seen it implemented. That's her experience. I think the truth should be taught as truth without the intent on making anyone feel bad. At the end of the day allow the audience to simply react to facts. Teachers go through professional development all the time and part of it is teaching the truth in a non bias manner. Just ensure that's happening and we are good to go. Awesome conversation. Jordan did a phenomenal job at delivering the facts and directing her to speak on them instead of changing the subject. She did a great job at sharing that she agrees with the facts, although tough, but wants to see them taught without MAKING white kids feel bad. I personally don't know any teachers that make anyone feel bad. Simply allow the crowd to react to the content.
I think saying "you as a black student, are going to be oppressed by a white person. It could be today, it could be tomorrow, but rest assured, you will be oppressed by white people unless you do something to change it." Then the 7 year old black kid starts becoming sus of his white friends. All the while, the privately funded white/asian schools are teaching their kids math, proper English, and instrument playing.
@@extremecentrism9796 Or with the knowledge, they become the example of how we should behave, and work to change the system as they get old enough to do so.
@@extremecentrism9796 I mean, black parents are going to raise our children as we see fit based on our experiences in day to day life, irregardless of what they're taught in the classroom. If we've experienced racism and sabotage in the workplace, or even as a small child growing up with other white kids, we're already preparing our child with the lessons that we wish we'd been taught. The only kids who are going to be in the dark about all of this are white kids.
We def needed to hear more from Maud. Cutting her off with a point that 'certain history happened' isn't the way to change her mind or even understand a group. This could have been done much differently to allow us to walk away with more. Thank you for sharing.
Is that your take away?? Further...generation after generation these very people tell Black people to get over it...I never owned slaves, control and hide history. I was NOT taught, that the “founding fathers” owned slaves 🤣 I had to learn on my OWN as I got Older.. if it wasn’t for the internet I probably STILL wouldn’t know..
I don't know. Considering the time period, it kind of seemed obvious. I just remember thinking as a child, oh I guess that's just something we don't talk about. A huge problem in our society is that we lack intellectual curiosity and we refuse to critically think, which is ironic in this conversation. Like Jordan, I also had to put many puzzle pieces together on my own, whereas to many, they're not learning something unless they're being told directly. No one is seeking their own understanding. To this day I still have not been "taught" that the founding fathers owned slaves. I was never taught about something like, "the Big Switch", which I feel is important to understand to see through modern-day political intent. But I came to understand it by looking over Reconstruction-era politics (which were never properly taught, but thankfully were in the textbook) and how things CLEARLY changed overtime. All because I was confused as hell how Lincoln could've possibly been a republican. And like people nowadays need to see their president and public officials wear a mask and socially distance in order to believe a pandemic. We're more sheeple than we'd like to think.
I saw a documentary on PBS, One of the points of the documentary was that black soldiers were hung in their uniform after returning from World War II. Black soldiers weren't allowed to eat in the same restaurants that German prisoners of war ate at. So is that CRT or the truth?
That's ancient history - no employer TODAY says "I WAS going to him Jamaal, but because his ancestors where treated unequally I'm NOT going to hire him" - no one says that. If you go back in a time machine, sure, blacks were legally treated unfairly - but you live in 2021.

I will be completely honest...no PK-12 school I have ever worked in taught CRT so I have no idea what her specific criticism is and they didn't really give her much chance to explain. Like any concept or theory...it can be taught incorrectly or lose its spirit and maybe there is a real conversation there. I think Charla and Jordan did what a lot of people do (which she mentioned) is lump any critics of CRT into the same pile and refuted points she was never making because some of the backlash against CRT is so visceral that too many proponents feel they have to shut down any type of criticism whatsoever.
Hopefully one day everyone can open up their minds and listen to each other out of curiosity without being offended even if you don’t like what they got to say.
I remember being late to school one morning in elementary school.. I came into class on a random slave video.. I felt extremely uncomfortable. That did force my mind to look at wypepo a different way than me.. I don’t remember any conversation from my teachers but the video was stuck in my head..
I'm bothered by the fact that she really didn't talk about CRT. CRT is about the systemic problem, not the individual. It's not being taught in K-12 schools. I feel that in order to have conversations with these BS artists, that we are allowing that point to be considered a reality. Great job by Jordan, he really had her behaving like his points were rhetorical, and since that is based on actual history, they were. It's exhausting engaging with people in denial of reality.
One thing about CRT from both the RIGHT and LEFT perspective is that it seems curiously hard to define WHEN CRT should be implemented in the classroom. If you do it too early, say K-5, the depth of the conversation will be lost, confusing or traumatic to younger minds. But…. 6-12 grade might be where these conversations need to start happening. What colonialism did to an entire swath of Native Americans and Blacks human trafficked (from a completely different continent against their will) is important to discuss and shouldn’t be minimized to make whites feel better, BUT…. I don’t want my sons in 2nd grade talking about it. It’s something that needs to be addressed when they have the cognitive presence of mind to understand how it happened, why it happened, it’s past and present impacts and how we can shape the future with that knowledge. So of course introducing hardcore racial topics to grade schoolers might be a bridge too far but introducing it in middle school and expounding upon it high school should be a requisite for history classes. Beyond critical race theory American children should be learning a second language before 8th grade. We give them 3-4 years to learn one in high school when they could start in grade school and be conversational before high school. Introducing lesson plans that include tax law, the finances of owning a home, not just compound interest but the secondary expenses such as insurance, PMI, property taxes, home value over time, the cost of higher education, etc. these are all topics that could be taught in tandem with CRT. American children are woefully behind in so many ways, people are getting jammed up on racism being taught in class but won’t acknowledge we aren’t pushing the importance of a better, more robust educational system that prepares American youth for the challenges the world will present to them, be it racial, financial or otherwise
Black people have feelings too though is the point, white people don’t get to do 75% of the discrimination and then say what they want people to acknowledge. Don’t do it if you don’t want us to speak the truth about it.
That is why I find her so insidious. When black and/or brown people bring up race issues she gaslights and tries to make you think you're crazy. But she is taking serious fake and crazy ideas. CRT is not being taught in schools!
Because CRT asserts that we are inherently stuck within a nation of systematic oppression, discrimination, prejudice, etc. towards racial minorities in almost every institution of our society and I don't necessarily agree with that notion. I think we have grown a lot as a nation in a relatively short span of time and will continue to do so. It also arguably indoctrinates youth into fixating heavily on race at an early age, which in and of itself could be considered racist and the very antithesis of its intended goal.
This all comes down to you as a parent being dependent on someone else educating your child. It wouldn't matter what theroy gets spoken about, as long as that child is being taught at home. You get manipulated by TV. Teachers are not the end all be all. Educate your own kid.
I like this dialog but don't think the live audience or atleast the clapping should be allowed, it's makes it hard to get the truth out of a guest like her. The clapping makes them twice about their response
A lot of people in the comment section are saying she couldn't finish her thoughts. What I viewed is her making the same tired reheated boilerplate arguments and the men pounced. The only unfairness I really saw was them teaming up on her. Charla should have played ref and let her and the comedian go one-on-one.
Nonsense. I'm A Black veteran. And, I have multiple relatives who are Black veterans. I used my VA Home Loan benefit. And, I advised my relatives to use theirs. They haven't. Can't blame that on the white man. The only thing holding Black people back now is mentality. 3/5 was 235 years ago. The Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964, 58 years ago, half a century. How many Black people purchased Amazon stock 25 years ago or invested in Bitcoin/crypto? Why not? Is that the white man's fault? Or, is it the result of having the wrong mentality.
Homegirl went through the entire segment and never gave a single hard, definable example of the problem that she was claiming was happening. I can't possibly be the only one who noticed that. "She kept saying, 'kids are being taught that their skin color is the only thing that matters' but never explain how or provided an observable instance of that happening.
I applaud Charla for having this conversation, however, he added absolutely nothing to the conversation. We just got the same rhetoric we’ve heard the last 20 years and got it condensed down into 13 minutes
No, Charla did actually add to the conversation when he asked how has this country benefitted the ADOS's as we've lost more than we've gained as a community both psychologically and financially. The problem is that he's hosting and not speaking as you can tell that he has a lot of insight on all of this, but as a host he can't dominate the conversation. He may need to redo this and have a different host while he participates.
@@sparklesp9304 none of those things are true. In fact, people who are on the opposing side of the argument often use the progress that ADOS have made since the abolition of slavery as a measuring stick to justify ADOS position and leverage in society today. But because of the people we often have representing us in these conversations usually fall back on tired rhetoric, the best defense they often have is just describing the still present gap of success between blacks and whites, thus giving caucasians the out to chalk it up to classism. My only point in saying all this tho is that we as ADOS have to push forth and represent better arguments than this conversation displayed. With Charla being as “informed” and intelligent as we know him to be, I just expect more from him in these convos

This was a very uneven platform for this lady to try to get her point across. Maybe it was the time frame, maybe it's the two on one side (plus the audience) and one on the other. I would have simply liked to hear and fully understand her perspective. At which time I could come up with my own conclusions.
They never allowed her to given her alternative to CRT. What do they want to replace it with? It left her off the hook, to me. Give us the opportunity to hear the opposition.
I can probably makes some assumptions about what she would say. We say these are the bad things that have happened... BUT we have moved beyond those things. The world wasn't quite as sophisticated back then, but solid foundations were laid that allows us to live in the greatest and most comfortable society the world has ever known. Her argument was to not ignore the past, but don't hone in on skin color so much. Remember, these are kids we're talking to. Wait until college to talk about all of the nuances. Let's work on making our kids smart so we can compete with other countries, instead of filling their head with racial garbage.
@@extremecentrism9796 so what do you do when kids are confronted with race issues before college? The point they are trying to make is just because you feel it's not an important discussion you need to have with your kids doesn't mean it's unnecessary. @@madhash83 so should we implement other social interactions in with our curriculum? Should we start having entire class sections dedicated to relationships and how to handle a boyfriend/girlfriend. Or how to handle a breakup? Relationships are a very common part of our society, much more common than racism. It seems it would be a better use of our time to promote marriage and family. But we kind of have to pick and choose what we teach in school. We have only so many hours in the day. We should not be relying on the government to teach us EVERHTHING. That's why parents exist. They teach you the things that aren't as black and white. Things beyond 2+2.
@@extremecentrism9796 Why is it we have all this time to teach about how great George Washington is and how Christopher Columbus was a hero but we don't have time to teach about ills that they did, the laws that were implemented against poc, and the effects of that today?
I had a convo with my state board of education rep. They don’t want CRT taught in school for military purposes. You start telling kids that the ppl they put on pedestals are terrible, now recruitment is down and young men are burning their selective services cards on Instagram.
CRT has nothing to do with feelings of guilt. The only reason whites would feel guilt is if identified with losers like robert e lee, rather than John Brown, who was on the right side of history.
1. No one made her feel guilty. She felt "guilty" prior to coming to the show 2. When American history is taught certain whites feel guilty. That's why they want to forget about the past. Christians don't feel guilty about Oklahoma city. Muslims don't feel guilty about 9/11. 🤔
I’ve never heard a solid logical argument against CRT. It’s a comfort issue. And to put it bluntly, one group wants to continue to allow the other group to remain uncomfortable so try hat they don’t lose their abundance of comfort.
CRT views everything through the lens of race and racism. For example, if two people - one black and one white - walk into a clothing store at the same time and the white attendant helps the white person first, CRT views that as racist because the white person was helped first. If the white attendant helps the black patron first that is racist according to CRT logic (or more correctly, illogic) which teaches that the black patron was helped first because he couldn’t be trusted to move around the store unattended.
@@DHFrank Again this is not accurate. CRT is designed to to show that racism is built into the judicial system. Your argument makes no sense. It’s not to make white kids feel guilty about being white. Which is most of the arguments I see. And again it’s not taught in a k-12 setting. Most of these kids wouldn’t understand it if it was taught. Hell half of you adults don’t even understand it 😂😂
@Zero Kool235 I think you’re inaccurate. “Although CRT began as a movement in the law, it has rapidly spread beyond that discipline.” (Richard Delgado & Dean Stefancic, “Critical Race Theory: An Introduction,” p.2) CRT is being taught in K-12 public schools: - A Cupertino, CA elementary school forces third graders to deconstruct their racial and sexual identities, then rank themselves according to their “power and privilege.” They separate the eight-year old children into oppressors and oppressed. - Buffalo Public Schools teaches students that “all white people” perpetuate systemic racism and forces kindergartners to watch a video of dead black children warning them about “racist police and state-sanctioned violence” who might kill them at any time. There are many more examples that I can cite. Care to rethink your position?
@@DHFrank and I think you’re a liar. What Cupertino school? See this is what people like you do. You didn’t name anything. You tried to cast yo our net wife and say a Cupertino school . Didn’t name the school or the alleged incident. There’s lots of questions here was this an exercise? Was this used as a teaching tool? Is this all schools? If you’re going to make a claim provide a factual example. You know this whole thing is bullshit because because their trying to remove teaching about African American history from schools. It’s the next step. You’re just pandering ideas from the daughters of the confederacy. Nice try though.
@@DHFrank CRT is about law, not ideology. Individual action wouldn't really be an issue in college level courses, and the little CRT that is actually taught in schools usually revolves around the history of slavery in our country, which goes back generations. Your anecdote also assumes both ways of looking at the scenario would lead to the same conclusion: does the store have a history of being racist? How about the employees, maybe theyre having a bad day? Do they work in a bad area? Nothing you said makes any sense.
This needs to be longer. Please redo this into a 2 hour segment of this subject, and the fact that there's been very little effort to research and FIX the impact of slavery and Jim Crow on the African American community. Thank you for having people who the descendants of those are directly affected by all of these topics be the ones to discuss them. American slavery and Jim Crow should NEVER be discussed on a public platform without ADOS's and people who actually experienced or are the children of those who experienced Jim Crow being present. I DO think that you guys needed to have defined what CRT actually is and what she specifically opposed being taught in schools if it wasn't simply the truths of American history.

As others have stated, this would've gone better if Maud had been allowed to speak uninterrupted. Jordan needs to learn how to listen, how to not interrupt, and in general how to have a better CONVERSATION. If Maud had interrupted Jordan the way he interrupted her, I have a strong feeling it wouldn't have been acceptable. I would like to learn more about this topic, unfortunately after 13 minutes of this video I learned nothing.
Was Trayvon Martin not in middle school? Black parents have to start early teaching their children how to behave if outside because of the bias that some people have outside in stores or in the police force.
This was a terrible terrible conversation. And I’m all for CRT. The reason why she looked like she didn’t have a point was because ctg was not moderating it was two on one and she knew she couldn’t really scream at them. It does nothing to just preach to the choir. This could’ve been good if they actually let her talk and then let her come to different conclusions because she thought she was part of the conversation….
She didn't have a point as she couldn't clearly explain what SHOULD be taught in the public system other than CRT, and if she was scared to say it because she knew it'd offend them, no amount of moderating would have helped that as I think she was alluding that black history should be taught the way it always has been, which is from a white person's perspective and not the perspectives of those experiencing it. A black person's perspective of anti-black racism will never make her or her children feel good because it doesn't make us feel good.
It would appear to me the young lady's concern was more about how history is taught and the effects it may have on children, in lieu of what history is taught. She agrees that factual history is fine to be taught but, if I'm understanding her correct, she is concern about emphasis being placed on the negative aspects of our past. A past, of course, in which white people may not be painted in the best light, and the effect of it on children.
I know it's borderline illegal to say this anymore, but maybe the reason black people don't succeed as well as other people is their culture as a whole.
As much as I love the concept of this platform, I was really looking to seeing Charlemagne's challenging and provoking character come through in a more productive fashion. Jordan was great to listen too, Maude could have been. I just wish there was more structure, including a proper central question, introduction, definition, and key topical points delivered to the guest to discuss interrupted, at least initially. Rather we see this "talking at" format. It was even unclear as to whether or not there was a mutual understanding of what CRT is in the first place. Regardless, it's nice to see the beginnings of a debate format amongst individuals closer to or directly within our communities.
I would have loved the truth about all history when I was in school. Like going back to Columbus. That was a big fat joke. Looking back now most history and truth has been found after we are out of school.
I had to explain to my 3 1/2 year old that she was Black. She was told by one of her classmates that “I don’t share books with black people”. It was devastating because how do you explain to a 3 year old color… The other kid admitted to saying that. Definitely a learned behavior and race needs to be talked about as early as possible.
1st you must understand that she is not black. She has a complexion that is dark olive hue. History has lied about so-called black people are answering to something they are not. Great segment! I kept dying for someone to ask her for an example of what's currently being taught in classrooms that she disagrees with. You hear this all the time from anti-CRT people, "I agree we should teach history as it is, I agree that these issues exists, etc. BUT I don't think CRT should be in schools." What does she actually think is the "critical race theory" being taught in schools? I'd love that question to be answered because I feel like the examples don't actually exist, and that she/other critics just use CRT as a sort of made up figment to have 'something' to fight against.
Funniest thing about this conversation is that they’re not teaching CRT in K-12! Teaching kids about racism and America’s history with it does not equal CRT.

Lenard’s “Would you trade places with a random black person?” question reminded me of the Chris Rock bit about trading places (from 20 years ago): “Shit, they ain’t a white man in this room that would change places with me. None of you would change places with me - and I’m rich! There’s a white, one-legged busboy in here right now that won’t change places with my black ass. He’s goin’, “Nah man, I wanna ride this white thing out. See where it takes me.”
They don’t like CRT because they are afraid to have to explain their bigotry and racism to their children, and their children can see them for who they really are. Nobody keeps you honest like your child will.
Sadly my 3 yr old who was 1 at the time was treated bad in predominantly white spaces of kids, I do believe some people teach their kids negative stuff. My son was just as natural than any other baby who wanted to play but was treated bad but I stopped it before it could go far.
I think maybe they got a bit off topic...my understanding of CRT is that it makes the case that historical racism is embedded in our systems and institutions, the byproduct of which is inequality and a continued impediment for many Blacks in our country from being as successful as their individual talents would allow them to be. Centuries of explicit racism and dehumanization that was woven into the very fabric of every aspect of American life, has led to a lack of empathy, knowledge, understanding and widespread implicit bias that negatively impacts the lives of many Blacks in this country.
Maud is there to just say "WE DONT WANNA HURT OUR PRECIOUS other/wink kids Feelings about the truth about their ancestors) That's all, She has no real argument!!!
My problem with this woman and people like her is she wants to use that cheap argument “oh look Charlamayne you’re successful so therefore America is fine. The fact that there are successful black people in America does NOT mean that America “the land of freedom” helped them become successful, usually America is the reason it was hard in the first place
Im so confused she doesn't sound against it at all 😂😂😂 she said herself she wants to teach the good and the bad well slavery was 1 of the bad things based on skin color and kids should learn these things
As I have been told many years ago. When someone is telling you something and then they say...BUT, everything they said before that "but" is a lie and everything after it is their true feelings. Keep that in mind when you listen to this "conversation"
This was great. I wish it could have been a longer conversation. Also I wanted more dialogue between the two guest. I know it’s tough to sit there and moderate, but hear those two complete their ideas and go back and forth would have been better. I feel my nigga was gonna kill the debate. But it’s dope that CTG has a platform where the conversation can be had.
What if she was thinking, "I love my life and I really don't want to trade places with anyone" but knew she couldn't say that for fear of sounding racist? to be fair, none of us know for sure what she was thinking.
If Charlamagne and Jordan were more interested in something other then scoring "black points" this could have been a really good conversation. We could have learned Maud's approach to teaching children history without the CRT syllabi. This was really a missed opportunity.
Can they just ask her to acknowledge that her view of CRT being overwhelmingly negative is steeped in her own privilege? Like maybe this makes you uncomfortable because you were learned about all the “good” and none of the bad?
Watching this was so difficult. Man I wish I could have sat across from this woman. I would have ripped her argument apart while still being respectful. Jordan did a great job but there were some missed opportunities. Maud made absolutely no point. It was like she was just arguing for the right to argue. Drove me crazy!

That implies what she was saying was wrong. She actually brought up a lot of fair points.
This lady was completely unprepared. She was just there to listen

It’s a college course at a handful of universities. It’s not taught in k-12. It’s just to rile up the conservative base

What’s the difference between CRT and teaching accurate history?
Exactly. It goes to show you that they are not teaching the truth.

As soon as an anti-CRT type of person says the word “Divisive” 100% you should already know what time it is.
I caught that. I always thought it was pronounced with a long i. The British might say it differently. So what?

The color of her skin isn't the problem. It's the mentality followed up by the actions that's the problem.
CRT has nothing to do with feelings of guilt. The only reason whites would feel guilt is if identified with losers like robert e lee, rather than John Brown, who was on the right side of history.
@@thecliff4670 thank you
1. No one made her feel guilty. She felt "guilty" prior to coming to the show

@@fitawrarifitness6842 well said
"Would you switch places with a random Black person in America" her facial gesture spoke volumes…
Hell half of you adults don’t even understand it 😂😂
@Zero Kool235 I think you’re inaccurate.
“Although CRT began as a movement in the law, it has rapidly spread beyond that discipline.” (Richard Delgado & Dean Stefancic, “Critical Race Theory: An Introduction,” p.2)
CRT is being taught in K-12 public schools:
- A Cupertino, CA elementary school forces third graders to deconstruct their racial and sexual identities, then rank themselves according to their “power and privilege.” They separate the eight-year old children into oppressors and oppressed.
(You not need to answer that it’s rhetorical.) obviously it’s not. Was it brought up in a student board meeting an addressed? Buffalo Public schools? Again what school? what year?

What is Brave about her going on a show to speak her views?
She didn't have a point
@@PoetPariahMusic So youre saying they didnt really want to hear what she had to say, but expose her.
Michael Forde-What Malcom X say "We sick Boss"
It would appear to me the young lady's concern was more about how history is taught and the effects it may have on children, in lieu of what history is taught. She agrees that factual history is fine to be taught but, if I'm understanding her correct, she is concern about emphasis being placed on the negative aspects of our past. A past, of course, in which white people may not be painted in the best light, and the effect of it on children.
I know it's borderline illegal to say this anymore, but maybe the reason black people don't succeed as well as other people is their culture as a whole.
As a conservative black man this woman got bodied. I give her props for being on the show but Charlemagne and homie came with the facts 💯
Great point about the Haitians
I would have loved the truth about all history when I was in school. Like going back to Columbus. That was a big fat joke. Looking back now most history and truth has been found after we are out of school.
Indeed when it comes to history you usually have to reteach yourself after school

Critical race theory is for slow people who are ashamed of their color
It's NOT being taught anywhere BUT college...for LAWYERS...do a little research...it's been a political stunt. 🏵️
Funniest thing about this conversation is that they’re not teaching CRT in K-12! Teaching kids about racism and America’s history with it does not equal CRT.

Lenard’s “Would you trade places with a random black person?” question reminded me of the Chris Rock bit about trading places (from 20 years ago):
“Shit, they ain’t a white man in this room that would change places with me.

I want y’all to remember these poor kids will still be poor after they learn CRT
Can we let the woman finish a thought so we can understand her perspective? Very good points by Jordan.

There should be a word for race simping. This talk doesn't seem to have been conducted with good faith for all parties.
8:46: Whao nelly. Her face said it all.
She could answered it...and it wouldn't have sounded racist cause she just BSing she know most of us go through so BS she herself couldn't take.
Definitely a missed opportunity.
Can they just ask her to acknowledge that her view of CRT being overwhelmingly negative is steeped in her own privilege? Like maybe this makes you uncomfortable because you were learned about all the “good” and none of the bad?
It crazy how she said that there is no right answer to whether she would trade places with a black person, then they went on to prove her point.
Watching this was so difficult. Man I wish I could have sat across from this woman. I would have ripped her argument apart while still being respectful. Jordan did a great job but there were some missed opportunities. Maud made absolutely no point. It was like she was just arguing for the right to argue. Drove me crazy!
Great job Charlemagne. The comedian was smart, articulate and informed. Maud was brave. Let's continue the conversation.
