The resort looks fantastic ! I can't believe it's already 2 years since you were up in the part of the world - time is flying by. You're looking well Peter ! All the best from Prague
I have stayed there twice, with a third visit booked. I would recommend it to everyone who wishes to visit Kanchanabri. The POW Camp was in fact this side of the river, across the road from the hotel.
Hi Peter, I agree about the hotel. I’ve stayed there twice, once in a room like yours and then in a bungalow next to the pool. I live in Hua Hin and usually go three times a year: ANZAC Day (April) for the dawn service Remembrance Day (November) And when Hua Hin play Kanchanaburi City 😉 It’s difficult to please everyone when doing a vlog on somewhere like Kanchanaburi. Sadly most of us know the history regarding the area which is usually the reason we initially visit. Yet people also want to know about nightlife and places to eat. I’d just say, keep on doing what you’re doing as your videos are nicely paced and enjoyable 👍🏻
Hello Peter The museum at Hellfire Pass is excellent....like everyone else who has been it's incredibly harrowing. A very emotional experience. Take care.
A bit of humor, Peter...I had a similar hat years back, & a "hillbilly" friend remarked, "Bob, I'd like to own 2 of those hats! "Why 2"? He said, "One to Crap in, another to Cover it up with"! (Of course I wasn't excited to hear this...but I did find it fairly humorous! Haha😂..Cheers, Peter!❤)
I enjoyed the video as I am coming to Kanchanaburi to see the Bridge while I am staying in Bang Saray for the winter from the 1st October till April. I do not usually do tourist things and just live a normal life no car no scooter just public transport as I like to integrate with the locals but I have a friend coming over for her first visit Christmas and new year. She wanted to go to Bangkok so it’s ideal to have a Friday in Bangkok catch the train to Kancanaburi and as an ex serviceman pay my respects to all the fallen no matter what nationality and then celebrate the ladies birthday in a nice riverside hotel. Unfortunately as it’s the new year the hotel was booked fully so I have to book the zeig river kwai which also has the opportunity to have breakfast by the river. So thank you for the inspiration to combine many of the things we wish to do. I do know some of the history as my father was stationed at changi in Singapore and visited himself. I see from comments that someone was not impressed by it being factually incorrect but I would not let that bother you as it was not your intention to mislead. Everyone who does visit should go to the museum as that will enlighten people to the atrocities and to the graves of the young men. I will not let that opportunity pass me by to show respect.
A very nice and relaxing place with a sad history..always worth another visit and even stay the night..lovely resort..and some lovely places to look along the river when you hire a long boat EXCELLENT video👏🙏🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
Stayed at that place a couple of months ago. I was in the hotel part. So noisy. For unknown reasons, you have to swipe a card to exit the corridor where the rooms are. Every time someone does, there is a loud "Ding dong" you can hear in your room. Also hotel employee talking loudly on his phone, sounded like he was in my room. I would recommend staying one of the rooms like yours.
Stayed there a year ago and endorse all you've said. I wouldn't call it a budget option, but it's good value for what you get. Those Bangkok prices must be getting to you! There's a nice coffee shop with aircon almost opposite the entrance. If you stay a couple of days or more, there's Erawin waterfalls about an hour's drive away too. The museum next to the war graves cemetery is the best one IMO. Thanks for reviving some good memories.
Your looking well peter I have seen this place before there is so much to thank the veterans for peter. There are some bars there as well I want to visit this place wow don’t get much better than this
Hi Peter.....I stumbled into your videos by chance as I am contemplating a vacation to Pattaya(not decided as of yet). In one of your stories, the writer goes to a massage place(the reason eludes me right now) to get a one-hour massage. He makes note in his story that there are massage rates for 30 minutes, 1-hour, and 90-minute massages. He did enjoy the massage and called back on Line to ask if she does house calls, which she does, but he asks for a time that exceeds that was on the menu, if i one for at least two hours. In your experience in Thailand, either from hearing stories or talking to others, do the employees frequently accept doing massages for a time that exceeds that which is not on the menu?
Yes no problem most of the most stay with you for several hours if not all night and evening for days on end as long as they are paid for their services
@@ThailandBound Thank you for replying Peter. I didn't word my question well. I wasn't referring to and long or short stays. I was inquiring about a request for a massage for a strange amount of time............a five hour massage. But I see what your saying. Thank you again for the reply.
Once again I go down memory road. And in the mid 1960's we took a ride out to the bridge and to view the reclining Buddha. But all I remember seeing was the bridge at the end of a dirt road in the forest, and one small sign. Gee, development in Thailand has been extensive. 🤔🌞👁️
Great video Peter, I was in that restaurant by the river 20 years ago, very nice did you feed the fish! And the hotel you stayed in looks fantastic, must be quite new thanks for the info cheers.
Just lovely, Peter...just wondering if that river has any crocodiles, snakes swimming about..? 😊..I might think twice b4 I went in there for a swim! Haha 😄
That place looked so nice and tranquil Peter, i have been to Kanch a few times and that hotel will be my choice next visit, how delightful was that view when having breakfast.
