Hell yeah, get that bread
YOU MAY have to work at WING STOP. YOU ARE the PERFECT HOT to eventually for CERTAIN Run the LINE of Wing Stop and Appear on Commercial WITH EASE
To prove that I'm the REAL DEAL, I'm at TOY MACHINE Skateboarder. Owner of TOY MACHINE
You were featured on Daily Dose of internet around 10th October 2023
War Thunder is russian shit from Gaijin Entertainment
You only built that table to show off that tea pot. I'm certain.
That is the best tea pot I've ever seen.
@@althejazzmanI was about to say it was also the best part of the video but that would be facetious 😝😝
Damn. I had a teapot like that once.
Well damned if now I don't want one of those pots! 😅 Gonna have to troll through Etsy I guess. Unless Xyla kindly references where she got hers? 😊
It is quite thematically appropriate.
Nothing makes me happier than hearing my daughter come running through the house when she hears one of your videos start.
Every time you say "map," I have flashbacks to pilot training and my instructors yelling, "we use charts, not maps. Maps are for hiking. Charts are for flying."
The table is cool and all, but let's talk about that teapot. I am digging the hell out of that.
I love your flipping tool table at 3:05! That is hella clever! what a great way to save space!
yep, gotta do that with my router table/planer to make space in the garage
That looks like Fisher's Shop design
yes, when I saw that, I had to repeat it a couple of times.
Great Idea, I have work in woodwork area for like the whole of my life :) lol and I have never seen that idea.
One of a kind, but I think a lot of people are going to use your idea.
Top One.
I think the proper phrase is “flippin flipping tool table”
My arms are a bit messed up so lifting my large tools is problematic. I think I may build something like this... next spring.
This is the kind of decoration that I think is worthwhile. You see videos where people are putting random spheres in a bowl on the table, or just grabbing some cool looking thing and putting it on a shelf, and I think that’s so silly.
Here, you have a table with a map that has personal meaning, and I assume the photographs are photographs of your plane. To me, if you’re gonna have clutter and knickknacks, they should be things that are part of your history, places you’ve been things you’ve done. Very cool.
The real crazy part is how expensive a bowl full of balls for the kitchen table can be (the cost is a feature for some folks).
I LOVE that you highlight intelligent, strong, capable women on your channel. I'm just in awe at all your abilities. You are, w/out a doubt, my favorite content creator. Your content is engaging, well thought out, well edited, and educational. What more could anyone ask for?
Old sectionals make excellent wrapping paper.
I love when you do aviation content.
Such a cool way to preserve an artifact, and the memories that it will bring to you every time you lean over it! (And, though I know it might be stepping over a line, I love your braid wrapped around your head: efficient, functional, and elegant, just like you!)
That is incredible! You have inspired me to build my next computer desk using my old flight sectionals. Nice work!
You have brought back memories of my release and my exam.
The experience of release is one that is never forgotten, it is the first time you find yourself completely alone in heaven.
The project is very nice.
Vince Fagioli " credit where credit is due " . Dang ... the history ... th3 achievement.. blessed with epica . YOU ARE AMAZING ❤🙏
I just glued a large piece of felt onto a table. I clamped half down first to get the alignment right. Then glued the free half, without having to worry about alignment. No need to clamp the already glued side. Awesome project for you, great memories.
How was this not sponsored by Aviation Gin is beyond belief
Xyla you are a dream girl. As a Pilot, Engineer, DIY fabricator, built kit plane, did model rockets as a kid I'm a fan. You are
smart, beautiful and now a sectional bar table top, yep dream girl. Cheers Xyla. Keep up the building. Enjoy it.
What an amazing way to preserve a well seasoned map! Drawn and paper maps are a lost medium.
Work bench+miter saw is SMART! ❤️ Thx for sharing. Ive wanted to do same project with all my original CD jackets from 90s. Great job!
Never stop using ur tools how you want 😁 People that judge most likely dont have tools and didnt pay for your's
That's awesome! I have a similarly DIY made table but with a glass plate, which I keep movie posters, vacation postcards and/or old long play records in, swapping the contents around once in a while.
Mini bubble levels for your drills and nailgun(s): Game Changer
I’m digging the blues shuffle going on while watching your build. I have to admit I like the look of the bottom of your table. Cool look!
10:52 "our friends over at boatle tote"? LoL. Great Project! Well done.
that's a pretty awesome build to just have sitting against the wall in your house
That was a seriously cool project, and it's AMAZING that your friend who helped you with your private license was there to help and celebrate with you. Sooooo cool!
You've inspired me to look for my first chart that I used for my two stop cross country to get my license. I think it would be cool to use it as wall paper in a little guest cabin bathroom we're putting up in the woods! Would be interesting viewing whilst sitting around doing one's...well, you know. 🤣
Congrats for being featured on daily dose of internet!
This makes me wish I still had my old sectionals. I used them as a kind of wallpaper in my den, but that meant they were left behind when we moved (though I will admit the big sectional wall was pretty amazing while I had it). I love this idea, and you can take it with you if you ever move, so you get to keep all those memories. Brilliant!
I was just thinking about you 🤗😂
A nice way to preserve memories. Although tablet electronic maps have their virtues, they're like looking out a small porthole. A paper sectional gives so much broader a picture.
Exactly! We have a weakness for places with silly names, and it's hard to see places like Marsh Gibbon just off route if you're sticking to a route.
Nothing to stop you getting a large LCD monitor to run electronic maps, and epoxy _that_ into a bar top!
This is such a lovely project, and a great way to preserve a meaningful memento! Thanks so much for sharing this! 🧡
10:52 "our friends over at Botal Toat"😂❤️
A nice table, approachable project, with a great step-by-step process.
Those radials in the pictures above the table at the end.😍😍😍 There's something special about those engines to me.
Enshrining something meaningful like this chart makes this project extra cool. Looks great! Thanks for sharing!
Your more advanced videos are what inspired me to make a foamcore/glass sleeping situation for my car to use on longer road trips. Sooo much lighter than the plywood that most DIY builds use. AND, I started working with composites again, after putting them in the "too hard" bucket when I was a kid. All I needed was teachers (you, easy composites, and AJ Hartman Aero) to give me the pointers and techniques to avoid the mistakes I was making back then.
Great to see actual 1-day builds! Gives people new to making stuff a chance to see a finished project.
Another great project Xyla!! I still have my first Detroit and Huron Sectionals from when I learned to fly in 1975. Great idea. I'ved mount old maps using a large dry mount press I had access to years ago working in a custom Art & Frame Gallery! Takes the wrinkles and kinks right out!! Beautiful job!! Always look for forward to your next project!
This is an easy, attainable project. All it takes is one day and a background with flight training.
Wow ... such a cool table; so *_full_* of memories!
And that Gee Bee Racer teapot is the bee's knees! Really neat!
10:55 "our friends over at bottle toad" 😂😂
Glad to see the first rule of working with aviation maps (folding, laminating or fabloning) still applies even to someone as crafty as Xyla - another pilot will immediately appear as soon as you start to help/show you how you should have done it better!
That Gee Bee teapot is so fun!
Very cool project! I really enjoyed this one. That flip top sander/planer stand is pretty cool too!
These are my favorite types of home craft tables. Very personalized and beautiful.
10/10 video. I feel more encouraged to finish my bar top project. Never would have thought of using a spreader with teeth.
I love this! I want to pour a bartop and this is a great quick reference video. I also appreciate the way you make long term practical items our of what might just be a sentimental piece of paper at the bottom of someone else's desk drawer (:
Having a friend come over who also was a pilot while you're making a plane-oriented table is not _ironic,_ that's just a _coincidence._ As an example to make it true irony, she would have to have already bought a map-table as a surprise gift for you.
Oooh! Good idea. I have a railroad map ftom my great-grandfather when he used to work for the USPS in small-town Nebraska that this would be a great idea for.
That looks so great! Awesome project. 🙌🏻
You literally had to have flown over my house on your CC. What a cool project, and a keepsake. Loved this build
Love seeing your aviation stuff!!
Great job Xyla! The table turned out great!!
“Boatel tote” at 10:54 made me laugh!
Back in the 1970s, when my sister worked in a boat yard in the Bahamas, and I were but a spotty adolescent, she used a product called "Steel Flex" for boat stuff (interiors, decks, etc) and also did some interesting photo and map mounting with the stuff. I haven't seen those pieces in years and years, but your project reminds me of those days....
The existence of both liquid nails and solid nails implies the existence of gaseous nails and plasmic nails.
This is so, so cool Xyla!
Whoa whoa whoa, what is that contraption that rotates the planer and the sander?! I want one! Did you do a video on that? Glorious stuff.
Yeah you did ☺️ you totaly said “Boatal Tote” at 10:53 😂😂😂
15:46 that kettle is very nice.
I took flight lessons in 1978. I got lost on a xcountry flight because I had to keep deviating around small thunder storms.
I turned mine into a livesectional (blinky RGBs on the wall). It's much more DIY than the fancy printed ones, but I like having it. Ironing the map is a great idea, it would have made mine look better. I started with Super 77 adhesive and switched to OG rubber cement. But I wasn't epoxying over it either. Hope you're getting some great flying in!
A great idea to coordinate with your decor. Well done!
This is so cool. I've always been obsessed with old maps.
Awesome project as always, would love to do something like this for an end table or two
I really like the build of this table! I need to think about what I want to put down (I don't have a cool flight map lol) and then build one for my house! Great vid as always.
I love this. What a great idea. I’m going to attempt this myself. Thank you. 🙏
Two words everyone wants to hear in the same sentence when thinking about a pilot: Aviation Bar.
I love watching xyla make amazing stuff 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
this is awesome Xyla. I thought of doing this with some sectionals I have except make cup coasters w/ VORS on the center of them.
That was a good video and project. Thank you for sharing.
I love anything that combines my passions for aviation and making. Awesome vid! Thank you! This has given me enough courage to try my first epoxy table top. More importantly, where can I get that superb tea pot??
Xyla, looks amazing, great work and thanks for sharing! 🙂
Love watching yiur videos, they are always so motivating!
What a great project! I wish I still had my maps from back when I was a student, I'd love to do the same thing. :) Oh, and excellent background music too. Loved the video.
That mitre saw is sick
i’d love to see more one day builds. Marling Baits has a series called “wh-One Day” - super good
Very nice work. Great little project.
That's the coolest teapot I've ever seen!
I need one...
Positively gorgeous! Wish I had done that with my sectional from 22 years ago!
My makerspace has two planers for exactly that reason. A big fancy one for new/unused lumber and a little cheap one for reclaimed lumber.
Best use of outdated sectionals I have ever seen. Nice work, an interesting and functional piece of art.
Love the back to basics theme here. It's still a lot of materials for youngsters who fancy starting a journey of making. I'd have welcomed a '4 t'Kids' section where you made some coasters and/ table mats with side of the map that is now lost forevering the epoxy-ply sandwich. Looking forward more videos........
Sweet bar build Xyla, nice Gee bee tea pot as well.
Great project! Now I’m thinking of something flat to make a table top. And where to put a table top!
Fantastic video Xyla! 💜
Dig it! those old sectionals can pile up as they expire. I did my flight training using an E6B and a paper map- i know what you went through! FYI- I used to call flying low and identifying the roads and landmarks as flying IFR- I follow roads lol!
As a picture framer:
I see your mitres, and am fine.
I hear mention of Spray Adhesive. and I want to cry.
10:51 our friends at botal toat hahaha , turned out pretty slick. Cheers 4 sharing.
That Army getup.. lol
What are the odds that Julia had a layover... :-)
I was thinking "I wonder what she's going to use for table legs..." lol
Thats turned out beautiful!
Whoa!. All that energy is so refreshing!. A friend who is a mechanic?!. Heck, I had a neighbor who was a mechanic in college. (I did not know she was a mechanic until I was fiddling with the clutch cable routing in my bike and her mother visited). Seeing me struggling, she said "I will get Angela to help you!." Thing was it broke because I got the routing wrong!. (Heck, no UA-cam at the time to see how that actually works....)
You are especially bright eyed and bushy tailed in this video. Glad that your health has stabilized and your natural joyous self has returned. Wishing you a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together with family and friends. Peaceful greetings from the southeastern shore of the Great Swamp Erie.
Excelent project!
If you still have the chart offcuts you could laminate/epoxy them onto some 4" squares of ⅛" ply and back them with cork or felt to make some matching coasters.
That turned out really well. This was the kind of project where you stand back at the end and tell yourself, "Damn, I'm GOOD!".
Not sure how I missed this vid when I came out but this is the one I needed. I have bar in my new house without a top and I want to make one with Detroit Red Wings objects I have collected using epoxy. This was a big help and answered a couple of question I have. I am going to do some small test first but feel a lot better about getting started with those now. Table came out awesome.
We have a table top at our flying club that has a 1:500,000 map of Greece (or part thereof) on it. I dont think they put quite asmuch effort into it as you did here though.
Great looking table, sometimes making something out of cheaper materials is great fun. I built a door out of the chea[ wood batons used to attach drywall and it came out great.
This build must have been "plane" satisfying.
..groaner...smiles..
What a great way to remember your memories by having them in a table. 😊
30 seconds in I’m like this is the coolest thing ever🙂You’re videos are so good👍🏻Keep rocking
10:53 “Boatal Totes” lol
