I know right, I love this show, and even this episode was pretty good. Steward's acting in this episode was amazing (as usual 😝). But you have to overlook a lot of stuff here. The magic collar for spot (that got a lot bigger), the deevoling into stuff that doesn't really make sense, the fact that Riker didn't change at all 🤣🤣 (not my joke, but thought it was hilarious)
Haha yeah, Worf as the big monster with venom sacks didn't make any sense and neither did Riker turning into a proto-human while Picard was turning into one of the original mammal forms. I have to say though....I would have lost it if Data turned into a blender.
Every time I see this episode, I laugh at Riker trying to get the fish in the ready room. Good thing Data wasn't affected though, because he may have regressed back to one of his ancestors, like say, a Commodore 64. 🤣

In Star Trek First Contact Picard suddenly develops ripped biceps just in time to climb away from the Borg queen. I think he must have replicated a couple of cans of spinach off-screen.
I also notice at the end before the cure is administered that he is growing a bit of primate hair/fur on his arm and chest. A bit of a detail that's easy to miss though.
I find it hard to believe no one died in this incident. Worf alone must've killed at least a dozen either out of rage or feeding when he was in his de-evolved state.
You would think, after all these emergencies with people getting trapped in turbolifts and needing to get out of the top hatch, they would keep an emergency ladder hidden behind the wall panel or have it drop from the ceiling or something.
I couldn't finish the episode as a kid because of him. As soon as he attacked Dr Crusher, I turned off the TV and ran crying to my dad (also a Trekkie). His reassurances that everything would turn out okay fell on deaf ears. I was not okay for the rest of the day.
Picard should have had her up on charges of dereliction of duty or some such shite. Drop her off at the nearest star base and leave her in the brig to answer for this. See if the judge accepts the old "in a way" defense. lol
In case anyone scrolls through UA-cam comments for trivia: 1) This episode was directed by Gates McFadden. Hence the in joke about the episode being her fault at the end. 2) Marina Sirtis had to endure 4 hours of make-up for this episode... and because the water in the tub kept destroying the appliances, it also took another 8 hours to film the "waking up in shock" scene! Because she had such a rough time filming this episode, she threatened to quit the show unless they gave her quite a significant raise in her salary... but luckily, the network agreed.
And in the next episode it's as if nothing happened. No PTSD, no unwanted pregnancies, no awkward letters to family about their dead son who was eaten by a proto-klingon. Just a funny quip about how Barclay will be extra neurotic for a few weeks.
It's her wanting to name the disease after him for me. Like Crusher, he is obviously unhappy. "Traditional" does not mean required. You didn't need to name it after him.

I've always loved Barclay's character and how the crew treats him. Led by example from Picard they may be slightly annoyed at times but are always supportive.

Worf was chasing because he was trying to mate with Troi, and Picard was distracting him with synthesized pheremones. So what exactly would Worf have done if he caught up with Picard? Tried to mate with him? That would make for some awkward scenes after data re-evolved them... 🥴
I’m consistently surprised the Enterprise crew doesn’t come across ships floating through space less fortunate than they were in successfully navigating all these land(space) mines.
Funny coincidence that in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in a fight at the upper bell tower you can fight and defeat Nemesis exactly the very same way Picard defeats Worf :D
Man I had a major crush on Beverly Crusher when I was younger. But if we would have hooked up, I would've had to adopt Wes off the ship though. So glad nothing came of it.
I find it hilarious that, other than with a few plot lines, a bunch of pre-evolved humanoids (into various creatures not seen since a fevered acid trip) didn't destroy everything. You take humans from any era and stick them on that ship, it'd be blown up within 30 minutes. (Pressing buttons is our favorite past-time as a species)
I hope Picard thank Data for literally saving his butt. Picard should also thank Patrick Stewart for signing another season. I'd hate to see Picard go out in this fashion. 1:55
the fact that Troi, the so called professional shrink, is fed up with helping people by scoffing at how Reg will need her, just speaks volumes about how awful she is. Guinnen was a better councillor. When Riker became captain in the Wolf 359 incident, it was Guinnen who counselled him. When Wes was having trouble getting respect, is was Guinnen who advised him. Troi defacto response is "I am sensing nothing" or pointing out the obvious.
Am I the only one who thinks Warf should have devolved into something vulnerable and pathetic, and Troi should have evolved into a giant ravenous monster? Not only would it have been a subversion, but it would allowed fans to really speculate about their evolutionary paths to civilization.
I despised this episode in so many ways... While it is slightly slightly believable that riker, ogawa and picard would deevolve into their forms... although much more likely that they would have become cavemen not variants of primates... what.. how... how did barcley become a spider... was he an alien and we just did not know. Since troi and Worf were made up alien spieces they could have become anything or anyone. But why did Barclay become a spider .? I just .. what did laforge become? A blind Monkey? In the wild Animals with disabilities either do really really well or are killed off very fast.. There was no middle ground... Who wrote this episode... a 9 year old child...Poor Johnathan frakes .... You mean I have to do how much make up and act like what? I better get paid for this... also in 30 years I better be married to troi and making pizza in the forest...
